  1. For Hazardous Duty: Thank you! I love the limitation of flash fics because I love the challenge in fitting enough plot to give the sex a backbone, as it were. This is one of the little character development pieces I wrote to help in the revision of a novel-length work in progress that occupied two NaNoWriMo. I like having a good handle on all the characters, and these oneshots help me get to know them better. This will be the poolside project for this year, I think...getting this monster revised, and both parts merged properly. Which of course will teach me to attempt sweeping sagas that cross star systems and end up with inter-species relationships.

  3. Hi! I'm a moderator, not an administrator, but I can answer this question for you. We LOVE to have authors add links to the forum in their stories to the review or discussion threads for a story, and I'm equally happy to have you add that link to a review, so folks can know that they can come and chat with you and magusfang here. The Fan Fiction threads, where most of us post review reply threads, is open for anyone to read and reply without registration for the forums. It has to be a registered forum user who starts the topic, but magusfang is certainly registered. The Writers Corner threads are for forum members only, so those discussions would only be open to other forum members. And as an author, can I say thank you for being the kind of reader who wants to generate discussion and spark interest among other readers? That's the kind of thing we all love to have happen, so thank you!

  8. The actual author is hpg70, who published the work originally offsite. KhaosKyuubi posted it here, but our Terms of Service don't allow the posting of someone else's work on another author's account, so we could not allow that story to remain as it was posted. As long as the original author is at least 18 years of age, they are welcome to post the story here themselves. We do allow round robins, as long as the story is posted as such, and each author adds chapters from their own account.

  16. If you can find the first chapter via the author's page, there is a clickable marked "Next Chapter" at the bottom of each chapter. It's right next to the "Review" clickable, which is also very nice to use, to let the author know what you thought.
  17. Hi, See my response in the Suggestions thread.
  18. If you have stories for those, or if there are stories in the archive for those that can be moved, by all means, request a category here.
  19. I'd prefer it specific to the character, simply to avoid any future confusion. It's always best to be overly cautious. And I've learned not to sip my Starbucks while reading your stories, but frankly, the Happy Meal is best stuffed anywhere but one's mouth.
  20. Okay, those links help hugely! I think you can do this as an original, and call it a request by the creator of the OC. He seems to love having people write using his characters, and you can certainly tell that he's aware of us over here. The safest thing all around from our point of view here is to keep a record of his permission. I can take that via an email from him, a quick one liner referencing your pen name, the character name, and his okay for you to use them. If he's more comfortable doing it via comments on H-F, link me and I can take a screenshot to show that he was aware of you using his character and approved of it. The "Thans for the story, I'll go read it" sort of thing certainly shows that he's aware and approves. The fake brands and such comes only if the usage is a central feature. Obviously, if you mention a person grabbing a cup of coffee at Starbucks, and then don't talk about Starbucks again, it's not disclaimer-worthy, and for the most part, constitutes a bit of free advertising for that chain. What gets touchier is if you have an ongoing reference, such as a character like Superman making an actual appearance. Saying someone is "...acting like Superman, for fuck's sake!" is not something you should need to disclaim, though. If that makes it clearer than the usual mud I toss out there.

  22. I ask only because we normally use this thread for duplicate postings which are old and discovered by readers. It's very simple for an author to delete a duplicate from the Control Panel: Go to the subdomain, click "Delete", use the dropdown field to find the story title, and click the Delete buton next to that dropdown field once you have the right story title. Of course, I can also delete that duplicate for you. You need only ask.
  23. My opinion of the above highlighted sentence is that it's not graphic. That's the reader in me speaking. The moderator in me would be happiest if there was a Rape tag on the story if it goes beyond that mere mention of an act that did not exactly occur. Rape is a trigger issue that can greatly upset readers who encounter it unprepared. Unless there was sexual content beyond that mention of a contemplated assault on a twelve year old, I would not ask for a Minor1 tag on the story. However, again, if there was any consummation of that bad act with an underage individual, we do have to have either Minor1 or Minor2 as story codes, which you do already, so no complaints there,
