  9. Have you visited Writers' Corner here yet? There's several threads discussing writers' block. I've been doing fine. Life's pretty much the same.
  10. The database on the forums have just been cleaned out. Users who had remained inactive for at least a year had been cleared from the list. We did this because we had hundreds of inactive users who never even posted or visited after signing up. Feel free to re-register. Just keep in mind that if you let another year pass by without logging in, you'll be deleted from the list again and asked to re-register yet again.

  19. Masturbation's worked for me before. If this "boredom" occurs once in a blue moon, I'd recommend that too. It's the cheapest solution. Another solution is spontaneity. Throw on some nice clothes, then hit the town. Go to a nice restaurant by yourself, or a random movie. It'll make you feel better. If this "boredom" starts occurring more frequently, go see your physician or therapist. It could be a symptom of something more serious.
  20. I like the theme songs for Elmo's World and Caillou. I don't watch the shows at all but I always tune in for the opening theme. I like to watch Global Grover and I still watch the sections of Sesame Street featuring Oscar the Grouch. If I'm on the edge of a study burn-out, I can calm down by tuning in to a kids' show that I either watched as a kid or is based on a a book series that I read as a kid. It's the more dignified version of grabbing your blanky and teddy and sucking your thumb in an effort not to cry. Face it: there's just a little part of us that shall always refuse to grow up. I shudder to think of what we'd be like without it.
  21. I remember that there was this one person who was a huge fan of one of my fics and he wrote good smut himself. The main problem was that he reviewed my fic and admitted in the review that he had just turned 16. If that review were at FF, I wouldn't have cared despite the fact that it's rated M. But it really irked me because this age admission was in a review at AFF after he had reviewed the same fic at FF. I chose to send him a warning about discretion because I was somewhat sympathetic to him. I started reading smut at 14. I did report him and kept the review up as evidence. One week later, he made the same admission in his story's disclaimer after he had joined the site. I had to report him again, and I was extremely pissed off this time. I liked him as a reviewer, I liked him as a writer, but I can only tolerate so much stupidity. I deleted the review once the second report was acknowledged. Tell this fan: "I'm glad you like my work, but please use some discretion when reviewing and don't admit to being a minor. You're incriminating yourself and you put me at risk. I'm afraid I'll have no choice but to report you in the future for the sake of the site, the story, the readers, and myself. Whether or not you continue to visit adult sites is up to you. All I ask is that you be smarter about it." So I've just re-iterated what others have been saying. It's the most balanced response I can think of. If this reviewer heeds your warning, apologizes, and exercises some discretion, then good for the reviewer. If not, you can rest knowing that you've done your part to address the issue tactfully.
  22. I realize that there are emancipated minors out there who count as legal adults but do you honestly think that the site mods have the time or resources to check out each member's scenario case-by-case? Frankly, that's ridiculous. We can be confident that someone 18+ is definitely a legal adult. We can't be sure that the same holds true for a 16-year-old unless we pry into private and confidential information. That would be crossing a boundary which most members don't care to cross for the sake of posting fanfiction. Come to think of it, if that were the case, the site would be more likely to get sued for something relating to breach of privacy (which it'd lose). If an emancipated minor sued AFF for discrimination, who do you think would be more likely to win that case? I'm a pre-law student, and I know that both you and I know the answer to that question.
