I think all of us on staff feel the same way about the site. It’s a home online for us all, and we all want to make this site a haven for our members. We all have each other’s backs, and honestly, I can’t imagine not being a part of AFF. And that goes for all our members, too. I’ve gotten to know some of you, and I thoroughly enjoy feeling like I can make friends here like all of you.

Manta is our coder and when she makes a suggestion about site code, I listen to her. While I was working abominable hours, BronxWench and all the other moderators picked up the slack for me. For years, all I did was work and sleep. I certainly appreciate the acknowledgement, but, there are others more deserving of it, such as manta2g, BronxWench, Melrick, etc. I’ve only just recently (the past few months) become more active like I should be. It’s taken over a year to recover from the years of overwork.

I actually wanted to say a bit more here, not just to apologize for speaking up here before seeing if clearing the browsing history would help (I knew it fixed an issue with the age verification button, but arbitrarily assumed this problem was completely different), but also to say something I think goes unsaid a lot. I know @DemonGoddess and folks like @manta2g do a lot of work behind the scenes and may be stretched very thing, since donations can be scarce. I just wanted to say that I appreciate everything you all do, especially when something happens with the site and I’m suddenly anxious about what to do, as happened just now. I’ve never really interacted directly with either of you, but since I know that sysadmin can be a stressful job and can feel very unappreciated, I just wanted you to know that I don’t take you for granted, and that what you do for the site and for the people here means a lot to me.

I also did this just now, so that might have played a part. Sorry for being a bit behind everyone else. 😅

Try doing a forced reload CTRL+F5, sometimes it takes a bit of force for changes to show up.

You shouldn’t have to apologize for anything! You’re doing great work, nobody was sitting here expecting it all to be 100% through straight away I am sure Thanks for all the effort and work!

I quite like that Originals has its own menu separate from the fanfiction.

There are many having issues at the moment. We are aware, and there are things that a user has to do in order for everything to work correctly. First thing, before you proceed. DO NOT use anonymous browsing for this part. You can go back to it afterwards. Be sure to do this from the main page: https://www.adult-fanfiction.org No matter WHICH browser, you must clear cache and cookies for ALL TIME. After doing the clear, close and restart your browser. Finally, you need to force refresh. (Press Ctrl+F5) That should fix the issues. You should be able to proceed once you do that. Remember, major software changes generally do require this sort of action. If, after all this, you’re still experiencing issues with the age verification, in Chrome/Edge, press F12 to access the console. You’ll see the exact error being generated. Let us know what it is. If you are experiencing bugs, please post them to the bug tracker. What we will need from you are specific steps you took to get the error, and screen shots if you are able. This will help in getting everything fixed, if there are bugs. DG

I knew Manta was involved heavily in site-related matters, and you’ve always been around as well, whether you were formally working here or just struggling to survive your job (I’ve been there). My apologies for not also mentioning Bronx and @Melrick Thank you. I don’t know everyone here, and I don’t always talk, but this is also how I feel about this site. thank you for all that you’ve done for the site, and as with all the others, even if I don’t really say too much, please know how grateful I am for all of it. ❤️

Hi, everyone! So while I can sign in here on the forums, I’m experiencing a problem with signing in on the main site. I hadn’t logged in for a bit, and the site updated, and today when I typed my email and password in, a box popped up that reads “Please activate your account first. Check your email for the activation link.” The problem being...there is nothing in my inbox. I checked spam, and there’s nothing there either. Has anyone else experienced this problem since the update?

Tried it again, now it seems to work on firefox. (Noscript & UBlock origin are normally active, simply to try to keep rogue javascript from taking over… or FB snooping)

I went and re-cleared all the cache and the rest of it again and that seems to have done it – originals showing now Thank you again!

When logged out The bar just shows “Home” “Fanfiction” and “Forum” options without originals option – When logged in it also has eg Account drop downs you don’t get logged out. I wonder if it’s something to do with the way Firefox is loading the bar when logged out? I just logged out, originals disappeared, logged back in, there it was!

Normally, yep, though I’ve whitelisted AFF.

Are you using something to disable and/or block popups in Firefox?

Originals is now showing for me as a separate dropdown link, right before Fan Fiction which has all the other subdomains.

I apologize for the hiccups during the upgrade. I missed a few files that controlled Ajax settings, and they were still pointing to the beta. While the bulk of the upgrade happened last night, with 640 files involved in the new site software I was bound to miss something, which is why we had the end time set to Monday evening.

One lighter annoyance… when refreshing specific story stats, puts me back to the profile page, instead of leaving me on stats. (Thus, have to navigate back in.)

Heya, I’ve cleared absolutely everything for all time, restarted, and went to log in – got an error message on log in, but then I was seemingly logged in anyway as I could see my control panel. The only real issue I have noticed is that when not logged in, the “Originals” domain does not show on the archives menu at all for me – It showed the anime, and books comics manga, then a list from Buffy to Television – Tried that on Firefox and Edge. Then I logged in, and suddenly the originals link was showing above the “anime” link on the archive drop down menu. So I logged out, cleared everything again, went back… no originals link on the menu again! I can send you screencap if it would help, though I expect someone already mentioned it on beta. I know you are all busy working on it so just dropping the two things I noticed here and running :) It’s all looking good and the new functionality sounds amazing, and I am grateful for all the work you’ve all put into it.

Tried that in Firefox, nope, still not clicking through. Even tried their “fix site issues” checkbox, nope. Though I do have chromium working for that, meant a google search to return to the forums (as I still prefer firefox and I couldn’t click from the main site anymore with that blocking banner)

As with any new browser based software, there are some things a user must do to use it. First, and foremost, force clear cache and cookies for ALL TIME. That should fix the problem

One of the things you have to do is to force clear for ALL TIME with cache and cookies. I have been able to login successfully by doing that.

That appears to be a bug with some browsers. The new archive is a work in progress, and they’re working on it as fast as they can.

Ditto… while it works on Chromium, won’t work on Firefox (which is the one I prefer to use here). Was also annoying while trying to find my story statistics (which I do daily/more-often-if-fresh-posted)

Yeah, I totally get the concern around that. Not in the context of a fanfic but in another writing collaboration, I wrote something for someone and they basically took bits and pieces from what I wrote and used it to say something different that wasn’t my original intention. So there’s definitely reason to be concerned. I can see why being clear on what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to preferences. I’ve seen a few different fics on here from people who seem to be similar to what I write. In fact, I’ve been inspired by some other people’s writing to write my own version of the idea. Maybe if there was some kind of approval process for collaborations where whoever creates the story has approval over what chapters do and don’t get posted.

To Answer. Hellhounds are sapient and on par with souls. Rex is fully aware and capable, he just looks like Malinois. Its part of what makes Hellhounds so dangerous. They can plan and coordinate, he’s just lacking opposable thumbs and vocal chords that can handle speech. If Rex ever decides to take a human visage... Rex IS smarter than Private Daniel. Whose been down there long enough to know the things down their like to play with their food. With everything that implies. There’s a reason why he’s eager to do even suicidal tactics. @JayDee Yes he does in fact have a fiery knot. fyi. A lot of accidents aren’t as nobody suspects the dog in plain sight. The Hellspore is a hell that in transcends and interjects with liminal and interspatial places.

I have some that are one-shots, and some that sort of turned into a sort of series over the years. But even those are able to stand alone. So now I have a little project after the rollout!

One year… might’ve been my first. I did a Halloween story, and decided to continue it with a sequel for the holiday story.

Think that’s what everybody is referring to, the typical halloween/holiday format.

That setting will always be open to you. Though, I must admit its nature likely a few characters have shown up elsewhere despite my best. It seems that Maker’s story has interwoven itself through quite a bit. I will probably have to write it at one point if only so it can leave me alone. In many ways Jophiel’s story is just beginning. The hellspore does open to many places and her makers sins have a way of reaching her creations.
