All lolicon/shotacon/under-18 materials banned on Hentai Foundry today

Recommended Posts

This morning, the administrator of Hentai Foundry announced that sexually suggestive artwork and stories about characters that are less than 18 years old (or appear to be so) will no longer be allowed. Apparently, someone complained to the site's host, which required HF to make this change.

This is really disappointing to me, because maybe 70% of my stories involve under-eighteen characters. AFF is now the only site where I have any such stories posted. And not to diss AFF, but those stories tend not to get as much traction here as they do on HF. (AFF readers seem to be more into either fanfics or adult incest, d/s, and rapey stuff.)

I guess I'll be using the "exclusively on AFF" tag more often now. :( Although I have to wonder whether the same thing will happen here.

The difference is largely in the visual depictions found on that site. I'm going to quote from the response we give to complaints about stories with under-18 fictional characters:

Title 18, Part I, Chapter 110, Section 2256 of the US Code defines what constitutes child pornography in the United States, the country where AFF resides. The key part of this definition is paragraph 8, including subparagraph A, which states in part: "'child pornography' means any visual depiction … where the production of such visual depiction involves the use of a minor..." The link to it is here:

Also, the supreme court took on such a case, and their decision is here:

Child pornography is only defined as a visual thing as in pictures and such, not dealing with stories. That is what we go by until a law is changed in the US.

We follow a policy of no censorship, as long as the content is legal. While we can't allow stories involving real persons under the age of 18, fictional characters are permissible as long as the story is properly tagged so those readers who prefer not to see such content can click on past it.

And given the volume of Harry Potter fictions involving a large cast of generally underage characters involved with each other, with professors, with parents, with siblings, and with creatures, I'd say that it's not so much the content as it is the context. :)

Yep rescue, the thought police are branching out...everyone remember to goosestep together. That's why I like this place, no one freaks out when I write something outrageous. I'm not actually into ped or underage, I write those scenes just to shock people, thats whats fun!

But I do have an issue with hundreds of people having to change everything because one busy body whines, my response is don't like it don't go there!

That's too bad. Does anyone have an archive of hentai foundry art before the ban, or at least an archive of affected users like lucky-curse?

I'd just like to point out that we have a site policy of not passing around hard copies of anything. If there is a legitimate website that also hosts the work, by all means. do link that, but we do not want to become a pirate site.

What is with Ao3 that site allows Shota and Loli

Honestly? By all rights, AO3 shouldn’t be hosting any adult content, because they aren’t an age-restricted site, and have no method in place to verify the age of a reader. What they DO have is a seriously deep-pocket not-for-profit backing them, and a team of lawyers who are exceedingly adept at obfuscation.

I’m not saying anyone shouldn’t post there, but I will venture my opinion that if a legal issue arises over adult content, AO3 will throw the author—I’m sorry, “creator”—under the bus faster than a cartoon villain.

I don't do Shota or Loli just saying they have it.

And yes they would throw you away easiest is to make your own blogspot for that

I heard blogspot went downhill a ways after google bought it in 2003 or 4 or so, I think blogging in general seems to have taken a bit of a backseat to podcasts and youtube and that – certainly don’t hear as much as used to around ‘em although I know some are still going. Heck, livejournal used to be big for fanfic at one point too…

My blog is moribund. I’m also avoiding FB and Twitter for the most part, except for sporadic bursts of marketing. It all feels so toxic lately, and I don’t need toxic right now.

Sorry ta hear about the toxicity, absolutely a good reason to avoid social media though. I see so much obvious fake news/hoax stuff on facebook, I ended up unfriending a lot of past work colleagues and that, people I hadn’t seen in years and now is mostly family/close friends I don’t get to see often. And even then you got that one or two family members with, uh, robust political views at odds with your own.

Also, sorry about the blog  -I hope you are able to build it up again if you need it for personal enjoyment or marketing.
