BronxWench reacted to ChrissyQuinn in Heart of the Forest discussion/Review thread
It's not just because she's human. I think Caolfionn says something about it, that their love gave Aneurin too much power, and the blood curse didn't like that so it nipped it in the bud if that makes any sense. True love is power, (as cheesy as that sounds) it was the same reason why Baba Yaga couldn't bother them, Baba Yaga is powerless to effect those who are truly in love according to legend

BronxWench reacted to GeorgeGlass in Plot bunnies must die
It's been a year now since the plot bunnies pinned me down with my own bedsheets, jumped all over my face, and demanded that I write an epic Frozen story. Rather than suffer the Death of a Thousand Hops, I relented and started writing.
Now, 372 days and 15 chapters later, the end is in sight. So far, I've given the bunnies everything they want: action, romance, mystery, comedy, drama, drinking songs, sexual innuendo, sexual not-so-innuendo, the works. All they demand now is a spectacular grand finale, the tying up of loose ends, a bit more gettin'-it-on, and some laughter and tears, and then they'll let me go.
I will accede to their demands. But I know the truth: that they are almost certainly lying their floppy little ears off. I don't think they have any intention of letting me go--I think they are going to make me write a SEQUEL.
Oh, God, I think one of them just hopped by and saw me posting this message instead of writing chapter 16. Gotta go!

You do realize that plot bunnies are impossible to actually kill, don't you? They just respawn, and you never know what they'll pick up on their way back. Trust me on this.

Alright! I've finally caught up with the reading and I'll have to agree with BW: I'm a bit let down that you ended the last chapter like that!
The one thing that I have a question about is what Islwyn mentioned to Val: someone inside doesn't like the fact that they've slept with one another. But yet and still, Aneurin remembers Islwyn and still beds him. And the way he called her a Dy'ne; it seems that although something inside of him doesn't agree with having sex with male elves, he would rather do that than to love Val as he once did. All because she's human.
If that makes sense...
The unicorn and the druid are definitely hiding something but as much as it pains me to admit, I will put my money on the fact that Islwyn has more to hide than Caoilfionn. The unicorn speaks about prophesies, pretty much talking around everything. But Islwyn is a bit off. He halfway admitted that he was jealous all because he saw her first and felt that she should be his. But in the same breath, he tells her that she doesn't know her place. Which I guess, according to these elves, any and all dy'ne, no matter how loyal or pretty, are only worth being sex slaves to them.
At least Yorwrath is honest with his intentions, albeit blunt.
You can now tell that he does have feelings for Val. And I have a gut feeling that Yorwarth is going to try to hide them until either his death or if somehow he can claim her as his. As the others pointed out: he doesn't want to get hurt again by loving a human like he did before. I believe that he may have felt that she was just some dy'ne before but now... he only calls her that now to mask his true feelings.
I don't know how I feel about the sex scene. Of course, it was beyond hot! And we can tell that the tension between the two had been building for quite some time. It still felt that it came out of nowhere. Almost like a "you're hurt, I'm hurt; let's have sex to make things tolerable"! LOL! But now that Aneurin has lost his memory, I can see Val and Yorwarth as a couple more than Val and Aneurin.

I've been Yorwrath's biggest advocate all along, but I think Valentina will always look at Aneurin and mourn what they lost, especially since it was Aneurin who broke with all protocol to bind her to him before the old gods. She'll have to lay with him as his queen, and it will be torture.
Yorwrath will feel it as well, because his baby brother, whom he's protected at all costs, is lost to him as well. As much as he could love Valentina, the ghost of Aneurin will always be a third party to their lovemaking, and I can't see them finding the same sort of passion between them. Maybe they'll create their own passionate bond, but there will always be a piece in the shape of Aneurin that's missing.

Because I've been miserable and depressed, I've been a brat. So, to apologize, pretties for DA:
(Now that's a lady elf...)
And one for Chrissy:
And because I love MY elves:

Just let me get past the Christmas thing in the shoutbox, and we'll see if I can't work up a little SpiderMorrigan/Zevran action, or perhaps a nicely romantic encounter with a drider...

Actually, the song's not a common Christmas song here, but if you look at the first appearance of the NYPD Emerald Society band in the official video of the tune, the fellow playing the large drum with the band logo is my Uncle Tommy.

Ok, so here's something no one is bringing up. Anny isn't the only one with magic and every time he and Val get it on, a magic bomb goes off. I wonder if it'll be enough to snap him back? If not, there would be no way in hell I would stay near the shell of my greatest love and watch him pretend to care.

Yeah, it'll definitely be bitter sweet but I think their shared loss will be that little seed that grows into love. I don't see aVal becoming his Queen, that would just eat at her until she loathed Anuerin. She's too independent, I like her with Yorwrath and maybe a threesome with Gwnn developes, but you're right, there will always be that hole in their hearts

Ok, gonna throw my two cents into the ring...Not sure if this is what Chrissy had in mind but this is how I see it:
Aneurin is dead, what has taken his place is some kind of mishmash of all the elf kings, sort of a genetic memory that was unlocked by the spell Caoilfionn and Islwyn; so Anuerin is still in there but he is now a small part of the whole and from the sounds of it a very subservient part, he Called Val a Dy'nn and the true Aneurin never would have, that would be like Magus calling me or Kari a whore, never happen. Now this hot tub party might bring the old Aneurin to the for front but it will never be him, not really and she's willing to try but I think the influence of the kings of the past will never let him see her as more than a pet. No, sorry but what they had is as dead as her old lover.
As for Yorwrath, I think you are all underestimating him. His abrasive manner was his way of keeping people at bay. He loved a human woman deeply and his father took that away from him, made him watch her die a horrible death, as well watching his son die. I couldn't even imagine what that would be like and honestly hope I never have to find out, but I know someone who does know and I watched him go through something quite similar. Yorwrath is just trying to never get close enough to anyone, especially a human female, so he never has to feel that pain again. But his walls are cracking, he didn't want to have rough sex with Val, he wanted to make love with her like his brother did and that tells me that no matter how he rails against it he's falling in love with her. I see the old Yorwrath resurfacing, the one his brother said was kind and even happy and when Val sees what's under that cold exterior I think she'll re-evaluate him and the two of them may find comfort in each others arms, a comfort that will grow into a deep love...I'm a romantic
As for Islwyn and the unicorn, gonna have to go with Kari on this one, they die slowly and screaming.
So I see a future with Yorwrath and Val presiding over a house full of little half elf half human rug rats, maybe not a happily ever after, but a bitter sweet ending.

Oh, believe me, I've thought Yorwrath was tolerable for a while now. But he's still not enough to heal Valentina's heart.
I won't argue with you on the rest, and not for fear of hormones. I'm menopausal -- I may you look like a romp in the park.
