I have this problem it seems. I think what seems to be happening is that I’m getting inspired by the end of a recent show I’m a fan of. They gave me what I wanted in terms of a pairing I like, or close enough to it anyway. So now the fandom is pushing me to have ideas. Both the original story that inspired this post and the most recent plot bunny are in the same fandom. Usually I don’t get what I want from a fandom, but this time I sorta did. Two female characters hooked up that I’ve been waiting to see happen since the beginning of the show. I think it’s screwing with my head. Desiderius Price 1 Quote

It frees you to take the characters in any direction you want without any danger of your story being AUed by something that happens in canon later on. Deadman 1 Quote

Yeah, funny enough the first fanfic I ever wrote was written a year before my main fandom ended. But yeah, this time seems to be right after it ended. In fact I technically predicted the ending of the series in some ways. I wrote a story suggesting a foursome of sorts, and apparently that happened in the show. Technically, my potter fanfic is now AU due to exactly that (it’s post GOF, but still good IMO, so I keep chugging away at it) Deadman and GeorgeGlass 2 Quote

I added a note at the beginning letting readers know about that and advising them to think of the story as an alternate version of season 2. Deadman and Desiderius Price 2 Quote

I got into fanfiction (& writing) specifically due to the long hiatus between the potter releases… there was a three year gap between GoF & Ootp & subsequent books. So mine’s basically a “continue the story and speculate” type of story. Now that OotP & others have released, I do have more of canon to leverage (characters, places, etc), so I do that, however, plot wise, it’s still post GoF story, not Ootp or later. (And my story’s likely reaching the 1.4M mark tomorrow…. on my drive) Wilde_Guess, Deadman and GeorgeGlass 3 Quote
