I've been to enough shrinks to know that their relationship is somewhat dysfunctional and unhealthy. At the very least he would request to speak to Kayla and get her to open up as to why she lied about her previous history and why she kept talking to Jeff. That the thoughts of suicide began to get stronger after this coming out would be a warning bell to any doctor and would suggest to them that they need a break to get their heads and hearts where they need to be. Psych's can not agree on what constitutes a healthy relationship. Like all things to do with human behavior it is debatable. You are enabling. If you are not enabling then you are not supportive. If not either of those you are (insert condition here). "dishonest, controlling, self absorbed, emotionally absent, etc." I know people who have maintained marriages since before I was born that psychologist would say are unhealthy. Just for accuracy I have been 49 for only a few weeks now. I will tell you psychologist are not content themselves with their choices because every time they succeed they lose a client and have to basically say they are happy to lose revenue. I think the shrink will like to talk with Kayla by herself. She herself has been through a lot. She switched schools, broke up with her first, started dating Craig v1 and his antics, broke up with Craig, started dating Jack, the whole brad and Jessica situation, being attacked in her house, Craig coming back into his life, this persistent jerkwad that can't take no for an answer, Jack kissing Tara, coach Walburn, keeping all it in about about Jeff and feeling extremely guilty that Jack wasn't his first and the love of her life finally losing it over all his stresses. Jack and Kayla have really not talked about the crap they have been through. A good relationship needs open lines of communication about everything. There is no reason to be secretive about past relationships. It's something that is learned in time. If I were a shrink, I wouldn't think that they would need a break rather need to sit down and talk with each other. It's been a huge year for me: taking a new job, setting up for my and my wife's future and, of course, starting this story. This dweeb, Jeff, is such a pansy that he is trying to get Kayla to cheat without his having to confront Jack. If Jack hunts him down it would heighten any feelings she might still harbor for the guy. Which ever way the fight turned out, win or loose, Jack would loose in the fight with and for Kayla. The fight with and for Kayla is the only one that counts if Jack still wants her. If he comes to realize he does not then it is best that he find that out on his own in his own time not because he played a suckers game.
