EveKnight75 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 On January 1st, the AFF forums will have existed for one entire year. This past year, we've gone through a temporary shut-down that lasted much longer than expected, a change of staff both here at the forums and the main site, structural site changes, new skins, underagers, members leaving us... the list goes on and on. Yet, for all of that, AFF survived and its forum emerged to be an excellent one full of amazing members. The regular members are a close-knit bunch who don't cause trouble, the new tech team works hard and does an amazingly consistent job, and one of the site admins takes great care to make sure these forums don't disappear on us. We're assigning new moderators, all of whom are well-known, friendly, reasonable, trustworthy, and loyal members here at the AFF forums. The new emerging moderating team has all the signs of being a well-oiled machine in the days to come. For all of that, I'd just like to say - yay us! (meaning all of us here at the forums). We've survived one of the toughest times we're ever likely to go through, and we're very likely to survive for many more years to come. Right now, we're coming up with a lot of ideas to celebrate the anniversary. The basic events have already been decided upon, including a contest or two, a birthday theme, and a chance to take advantage of us staff members . When the details are finalized, we'll post a sticky here at Aimless Babble, so be sure to keep an eye out for that. Happy Anniversary!
Guest Knorg Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I'm glad I'm not a regular because I hate you all. No, this isn't a joke. Here's to another year, however!
NinjaGaijin Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 One year ...minus a few months of missing
foeofthelance Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Ah well. Here's to another year of good tales and bad stories, crack fics, yawn fics, and all those others we've lambasted! And here's to missing, may they return soon. Skoal!
Guest Alien Pirate Pixagi Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 To another year of general randomness!
polywolly Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 One year!! It's only seemed like 12 months or so...
Iggy_lovechild Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 I'm so glad all the forum's earlier days of issues-issues-issues are finally over. I love the folks here and it's nice not to have to worry about watching my fucking language.
redsliver Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 One year old! That's 17 years too young to be around here at all! The feds aren't going to let us off easy on that one.
polywolly Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 When NarrativeAddict shows up, I'll know it's you. It's the accent.
StoryJunkie Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 The important thing is... I'll know its me! MUAHAHAHAHA (That's a very lyrical photo of Alan, btw)
Guest Knorg Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Well, I'd like to say that I hate you, too, Knorg, but the closest emotion I can come up with is apathy. *yawn*Anyhoo, happy one year or something like that Which one are you again? Drawin' a blank here.
WotanAnubis Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 For all of that, I'd just like to say - yay us! (meaning all of us here at the forums). We've survived one of the toughest times we're ever likely to go through, and we're very likely to survive for many more years to come. Nah. I think one of the toughest times would be the outbreak of a massive flame war, or an invasion of trolls. The extended disappearance of the site this forum's about is nothing compared to such a potential catastrophe. Possibly.
Guest Big Samurai Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 One year? What the @$%^ have I been doing all this time? Congrats to AFF for surviving. May the madness continue.
NightScribe Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Big Sam, have you been reading my mind? And btw, I believe a little madness can be a good thing. Especially when dealing with this group! Cheers to AFF and its members of the lunatic fringe!
quamp Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Wow, one year of AFF.net forums... It's good to have a place where I can show people just how sick and perverted I can be and get away with it.
Guest echtrae Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 And possibly even accepted for it. Eh, Quamp?
dazzledfirestar Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Well, well, well... Time sure flies when you're having fun, doesn't it! It seems like yesterday when I first signed on... *sigh* And who would have thought I'd meet such a wonderful group of demented and perverted people! Its so nice to find a place where you belong! Happy Anniversary to all of us!
Squallfan Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 I absolutely love this forum. May it continue for years to come.
Leonhart29 Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 This has to be the best place to meet and greet new people and I have to say I haven't had so much fun in years! I hope it continues for a long, long time.
StoryJunkie Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 that's what they all say....at first...then, some indefinable change takes you over....MUAHAHAHAHA!
Guest Evil_Labs Posted December 19, 2006 Report Posted December 19, 2006 Wow, I remember this place just starting up... It seems we were busier than we are now. I suspect we lost a few people in the server mash up a while back, but things have been steadily regrowing. Hopefully it will get even better as time goes on.
EveKnight75 Posted December 29, 2006 Author Report Posted December 29, 2006 Just a reminder that the forum anniversary is this Monday (January 1). We've been really busy, and we're nearly done with the preparations for the anniversary. I'm not going to say too much at this point. Everything will become clear on Monday. I'd suggest switching to the default skin (Invision Power Board) to receive a surprise. Rack up those points because you just may need them. Get your creativity flowing because it just may earn you a reward or two. Our final plans to celebrate the forum's first birthday shall be unveiled soon.
