  3. I'm dying laughing ... thankfully Mr. is talented with vehicles, but we have walked this road in other "manly man" aspects of life!
  4. Jobless but not amoral. This will turn out for the best.

  5. Thanks, guys. It does make me feel better.
  6. Okay, first day into my Facebook posting fast and some idiot posts a video, guiding me to it since my son is a serviceman. In this video, a young military serviceman is being filmed for a documentary. He goes into a fast food establishment, orders, then respectfully inquires if they offer a military discount. The ingrate in line behind him, who couldn't be arsed to put down her expensive cell phone to look him in the eye, goes off on the poor sod for taking entitlements he has not earned, that she has to pay for, and on and on. Excuse me, you absolute idiot, he has signed a contract with the very blood of his heart to protect and defend this country and you, yes you you ingrate, and your right to wave a phone in his face and taunt him. He has agreed to lay down his LIFE in defense of out freedoms, our privileges, our homes - to give everything he has to protect everything you have. How dare you! It was not my son, but one of his honorable and esteemed brothers, thus making him just as much my son. I curse your ignorance, your inability to see past the screen on your cellphone clutched in your perfectly manicured fingers. Thou are the epitome of everything that ails this once great nation of ours. I have heard horror stories from other military families of their servicemen being spit on, taunted, jeered at, and worse. Praise be that this has not happened to my son. Yet, in these times, he has been told not to wear his uniform, the one that his blood, sweat and tears earned him, to travel, etc. because it makes him a target. I thought my worst fear would be our enemies. I concede my error. *furious* M.o.m.
  7. Absolutely use the character's voice for the parts they would speak! If the narrator speaks in slang, then use it. What annoys me more is inconsistency in the voice.
  8. It's all good now. Try again. Thanks!
  9. My best present was a phone call from my son. He was supposed to be in the field with no phone access. I was so excited when I saw his name on the caller ID that I dropped the phone. BTW - Otter Box rocks for protecting old witch's phones in the senior moments.
  10. Boots in the house! Lights burned out on tree, :(

Tree lit. Santa came early to accommodate the owner of the boots who has to report to his next duty WAY too soon.

But at least he was home to celebrate. :hugs:

  11. Lots of people ... gone. The family is all gone for the night; house is quiet. Of course, my thoughts went maudlin. No more wine for witches.
  12. Y'know, Bronx - was just thinking about Figgy.
  13. One should never count up how many orders one has pending ...

  14. I survived the first gathering wherein I was forced to be in the same place as my attacker. Pretty damn proud of myself.

I wholeheartedly agree, DG. I'm okay so long as he doesn't come near me or Tiny. If he had even looked at her at the memorial, I'd have torn his face off.

  15. Ye gods of all above and below, what was I thinking? I need minions!

  22. LOL Jaydee - I figured Bellatrix would have been a choice, but what if it had been Andromeda? Harry has me stumped. Petunia certainly didn't want him, I can't see her accepting the honor.
  23. are the godmothers in Harry's world? We learn that Sirius is Harry's godfather and Snape is Draco's but where are the godmothers? Who would they be? Why didn't they step into the picture? How different would the stories be with a more matriarchal influence? Okay - going back to my coffee now.
  24. My favorite of hers: http://hp.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600006978- interesting take on Dementors. Ms_Figg was a large part of the inspiration for me to come out of the anon shadows and into a more active part of fanfiction. Her joy, sense of humor and ability to spin a tale are compelling. Her strength in adversity, IRL, was beyond compare.
