I tried several different ways of searching the Bleach archive. The problem I encountered was that it is likely this story doesn't mention certain things in the description which would help the search engine to find it.

Not yet, but there will be very shortly. Haven't had time to get to it yet, as I've been working several 10 hour days ugh. Quickly, on how to.... When you go edit the story, it will default display to the category it's already in. In order to bring up the sub sub category menu, you have to RESELECT from the top down. i.e. you'd select FMA, then Yaoi, then the pair. If you don't reselect, it won't let you edit the category. Mind you, this only applies within a subdomain. For example, it will NOT work to move them from subdomain to another. That actually is something that has no tool, yet. Being worked on, but it's not done.

FWIW, the original plan was going to be to split in the manner I've already done, but not at the top levels. The problem we encountered with that is that the current software ONLY supports three levels of categories. Category, sub category, sub sub category. Again this has to do with the language that this was written in quite a few years ago. There are actually instances of php v 2 and mysql v 3 code and queries. The program is THAT old. Needless to say, with the servers having php 4.x and mysql 4.x, there are incompatibilities. We find them, then we squish 'em. manta2g is in the process of actually rewriting everything, with help from xax (particularly with queries, he's super with queries), I help with other stuff and a bit of that as well. We each have our strengths working within a database program and framework to construct something like this, and the good thing is is that they complement each other. This is still some months away though, so we work with what we have.

The simple response to this is to write your congress reps and senators OBJECTING to this particular law. I don't know what I'm going to do about my stuff yet, exactly; I do hope that because I upload to my own server first, that that affords me some protection.

Links to stories which fall in the following type categories-- looking/searching for a fic challenges/requests RP requests "coming soon"/preview requests for plot bunnies Things of that nature. Post the links, they'll GO AWAY Oh yeah, when I close a topic, it's because the story is gone. This is simply a visual reference for me to be able to quickly skim and see where I need to be.

Poeople Looking For Stories In The Fiction Section.

Okay, those listed above are ALL deleted. Please, in the future, when you come across one or more of the above stories, start a new TOPIC in the "un" stories forum. I don't really care how many links you put in it, but if you, for example, find 5 stories in one day and want to report them so they can be removed, start your topic, add the links. Then, say, a day or two later you find more? Start a new topic. It'll make it easier on me, and I would definitely appreciate it. -
Throughout the archive, you'll find within the story listings a story that has no author. Those need to be found, and then deleted. So, as you run across stories like that, please post up a link to them so they can be deleted.
-
Throughout the archive, there are stories which are linked correctly to the author in story display, also through the first chapter or more, then all of a sudden there is no author for the chapter. I have no idea what CAUSED this, but it can be repaired. So, what I'm asking for here is that if any of you find stories like this, put up a post with a link to the story so it can be fixed.

There are many for instances where there are duplicate stories in place. There's a few reasons for this. One is where the user for whatever reason is unable to access their account anymore, creates a new account, and then re-uploads their work to the new pen name. Another would be name changes, where the user created a new login to change their user name. Yet another would be the user's email changed, and they can't remember their password, no longer have access to that email, so cannot get their password sent to them. Finally, when the database was split, they were unable to access the story, and had to re-upload because of that. By putting up a post linking to these duplicate stories, what can be done is simple. The reviews from one of the stories as well as the rating and hit counts can be merged. THEN, the duplicate can be deleted. This way, the users don't lose any of their reviews, ratings, or hit counts for the story. Please do not expect me to merge these stories out of sequence from where I'm at in the clean up process. I'll get to them as I can, and no sooner.

Thanks not necessary, I'm glad I have brains to pick so that I can get this stuff where it needs to be, especially with something I am NOT familiar with at all.

It's not cosmetic. There are very good technical reasons to do this, in that part of what you're looking at is we are dealing with very old script. To make it so it's less of a load on the hardware framework, it's better to have less data parsed per page draw. This'll help stop the STILL ongoing daily sql server resets caused by the archive software. Granted, it's not near as often as it used to be, but that's because OTHER software modules have been tweaked already (forum, and banner software). Still, even one reset of that server is one too many. As to bringing up some of the anime and games up to top level? Those all have 200 or more stories and need to be at that level. For one, they've earned it, for another, it makes it so that additional sub sub categories can be added to those particular new top level categories. The archive ONLY supports three category levels, so that's why those were moved UP a level. Otherwise, those additional sub sub categories could not be added. And, they're already being used. Before anyone even asks, yes we've looked at other fiction portal software, but none of it fits our needs. So, there is something else being worked on there. It's not so hard, you'll get used to the new format I'm sure.

When you're in the edit section of your user CP, you have to RESELECT the category it's already in, from the top, and then the sub sub menu will appear.

Actually, I'm waiting for the announcement to be made by Jaxxy about the demise of "Searching/looking for a Fic" categories throughout the archive. Once she does that, I promise, all those stories will GO AWAY. -
Okay, that helps alot. I wasn't sure if I was merging stories from it, or bringing it up a level, since I had NO clue what it was. So, it comes up a level.

What the hell is "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon"?
-
Do you have any more details? I did a quick search of the originals archive and couldn't find anything that matched what you've described.
-
YuGiOh and YuYu Hakusho zones are edited and added to.
-
I'm opting to not add the yuri sub categories at this point in time, as there are only 4 stories uploaded into that category. The het and yaoi pairs subcategories have been added. Thanks again for your help.

Here are some links for you The Rise of the New Lord Forbidden An Even Greater Sin

Knorg hasn't had stories up for a long time. Shifted his account to "reviewing account only" in the description some time last year.
-
hmmmm... went ahead and searched some more for you, the only fic coming up that matches is the one you already mentioned by ShenLong

Is now a top level category in the anime zone

This topic might help you determine where it best fits. -
Naruto zone is finished..... I've noticed for the amount of stories, I have a decided lack of data for actual pairs. Moving right along.... I wanted to thank the authors who've already started moving their stories around working within the new schema. It's quite a help to me.

Once I have a fic link (for the story id), I can move it easily. Not a big deal at all. I have forums set up to post stuff like that, as you come across it. That's actually part of a different project, which I'm hoping will be announced next week or so. However, the recategorization actually dovetails IN to the general cleanup that will be occurring.
