  1. The historical based fiction categories are actually being moved to originals, as the fiction that was there belongs in the originals section (in fact those categories are already IN the originals section). It will be eventually completely gone. If you were wanting to upload a story based on a historical type BOOK, then you can request that category be created.
  2. gah. remind me not to post when sleep deprived. Now that I've napped..... There was already both a fantasy and erotica section. Each 2nd level category had NO subcategories at all, and many, many stories all within the one category. BECAUSE of how many stories each second level category had, they became top level categories. This affords us the ability to sort through what's there, and actually start making 2nd and 3rd level categories to accomodate that. However, we're nowhere near getting to that subdomain yet. We're only just now finishing up the Books subdomain, and progressing through Buffy. So, please be patient, we will get to IT too. As to the standardized schema for second levels, once we actually SORT through everything, I expect that will change in the Originals subdomain. But, first we must catalog and sort it. It's a large task, and will take some time. All this, of course, while working within the limits and constraints that the current program puts upon us....
  3. You're seeing the INITIAL recategorization, not the final end results. As I've said before, we haven't gotten there yet. We will, but it will take a bit of time. Fantasy has it's own top level btw. The tab menus are to take you to different subdomains. That's how they're set up.

  5. Okay. That'll give me more to work with for what I need to do before even creating a category then.

  16. When we get to that archive, part of what we're doing (please read the topic pertaining to this) is COUNTING by threes/pairs and etc. There will not be any OFC/OMC sub categories added at this time. I only have THREE category levels to work with, so that's where we are at the moment. That archive will have to wait its turn for sorting, just like the rest.
  17. First of all, yes, this has all been covered extensively here in forum. The forum itself has a robust search feature, so you might want to use it to bring up the topics that are pertinent to your concerns. As to the warnings/story tags, you have to understand that this software for the archive is old. Because it's old, there are many, many limitations as to what we can and cannot do with it. We have something working for upgrade (it's being completely rewritten) but that takes a fair amount of time to write a program to where it works, from the ground up. So, for now, we have what we have. There is a definition for the story tags/warnings in the FAQ section here. Again, there are many things that the current software simply will not allow us to implement. That is also something slated to be done for the future. Different skins, with a selector for what the user wants to use, other than the default. It is not, unfortunately, an option now. It's actually data corruption leftover from the 2003 crash. That is being cleaned up at present Definitely not a possibility. It has nothing to do with organization, but that the software doesn't support it as an option. Sorting by title'd be nice, but.....we'll see. That all depends on what kind of addition to query loads it would create. The object to what we've been doing the last few weeks is to REDUCE the query load, not to increase it. Let's get done what needs done first, and then we can look at different features that we can incorporate into the new code. Our sort is by latest added/updated, which is common to any other fiction archive I've ever seen as well. This is normally because readers want to see what has been updated, not so much sort it all alphabetically.
  18. Thank you. We haven't gotten that far yet, but yes, they will be moved to be a sub sub of Het.
  19. It will go into the great beyond after I get home from work.
