  1. I’d like to pick your brain on this matter; and likely others will want to: namely why did you elect to set this site up if you do not want to post your own works- as well as for others to do the same thing- and also to add in a library of favorites of your own regarding works? Most people here will no doubt be mature enough to avoid being petty and complaining about “so-and-so likes your work better than mine...” kind of whiny pouting, but it does surprise me that you haven’t posted any works here in your profile, given that you spent the time to set it up, as well as presumably the whole site in the first place

Your motives are your own, of course, but I want to understand you a bit better; and it is also likely that others will be curious as to your thoughts as well, in addition to your own motives for why you do what you do- you obviously think it a good idea, but *why* do you think it a good idea, pray tell?

As to why I don’t have anything in my profile, I just never got around to it, to be honest.  I’m not a writer.  Not at all.  I am a reader and an artist.  So, I can appreciate art in the form of the written word, but can’t do it myself.  I was asked to get involved, initially, because of the iteration of IPB (Invision Power Board) at the time, was not being updated, nor was it being maintained correctly.

Like Manta, I think there SHOULD be a space for people to express their creativity.

As to moderation, we are careful and impartial about that.  We have to be.  For example, Hall of Shamers are not put there until I have proof positive that is ironclad.  Never on a supposition.

As to why I continue doing this, I like the part of it that I do.  Which is forum stuff, helping manta with some things, and, of course, the database maintenance and whatnot.  I like working in and with databases.

Well, for what it is worth, I do appreciate this data; and yes; I heartily agree about being careful about accusations: that more than reassures me, as I’ve been bullied by moderators and admins in the past, especially on AO3 for one thing- here I’ve not really had that much of a problem, ironically.

Only problem I’ve had that I can think through between *us* DemonGoddess: is the detail of which giving credit to another author who gave you the idea *in the first place* for the tale gets you marked as a plagerist; *that* one really makes less-than-no-sense to me frankly!

I understand why you don’t have any works here, DemonGoddess. By the way, totally a side topic, but *why* did you pick that name, pray tell? Your business, same with if you elect to reveal it; and you’re in charge of what you do as a person, but what got you to select that pseudonym? I fully get the why you have maintained this site, and not posted anything; but if you are such a reader, why did you elect to not have anything in your favorites? That too comes up, as it’d be easier for you to get to your favorite works on your bookshelf; and that’s all it is in my eyes: a bookshelf of your favorite novels here- beyond that, why you select a book here as a personal reading material is up to you; but I strongly think it’d encourage the individual writers as a personal note.

*My* problem is where if a writer has been given an idea by another writer, and credits them with that idea, the writer who is given the inspiration is charged with stealing the idea; that sounds downright too illogical to be remotely plausible to me. I hope I make sense to you; but good golly, folks! that one really bugs me. I get the issue about stealing stories being a serious offense- and with *that* I heartily agree; but beyond it: no.

It’s been my gaming name for years.  Since I used to dial in to bulletin boards.
