I’m curious what you mean by general increase. Hundreds of new views? Thousands? How much is lots of new registrations? If you can’t say, that’s fine but you’ve got me curious.

That could be part of it. The improvement in people’s ability to find what they’re looking for might have been to the benefit of a potential Google search. They like more organized content for people and for their options. But it’s definitely in part people just using the site. Also could just be people excited about the new version of the site, playing around with it.

Hmm, could just be that it’s being seen better by Google? Is there a place to see how much traffic has increased for your story? I did notice that one of my story seems to have a large number of readers but I can’t remember what it used to be. It was a pretty popular story.

Well I’m all for more Buffy related stories here. Eventually I’ll get back to it.

Depends on the story. My very first two long form fics didn’t have happily ever after, but they were somewhat happy.

Well mine is more in a fight club style, as in the episode of Angel where he was captured by people running a fight club… but with a sexual twist to it.

I have an idea that I’ve been playing with. One is a Buffy crossover and the other is sorta similar to the Gehanna story that’s already up on the site. Seems like there was collaboration on that story. But mine has a slightly different twist.

So… happy endings?

That won’t work well for your writing. Or maybe you could write about happy things?

I imagine there are people who would be into chanting and incantations. Not to mention demons and dragons for some fun. I believe there are a couple stories on here which write about that.

Yeah, I totally get the concern around that. Not in the context of a fanfic but in another writing collaboration, I wrote something for someone and they basically took bits and pieces from what I wrote and used it to say something different that wasn’t my original intention. So there’s definitely reason to be concerned. I can see why being clear on what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to preferences. I’ve seen a few different fics on here from people who seem to be similar to what I write. In fact, I’ve been inspired by some other people’s writing to write my own version of the idea. Maybe if there was some kind of approval process for collaborations where whoever creates the story has approval over what chapters do and don’t get posted.

Totally get that. I definitely want to get back to writing in the Buffy fandom at some point but I’ve got a bunch of ideas in other fandoms that I gotta get out of my head. I’m guessing there’ll be a resurgence of interest in the Buffy fandom if/when the sequel series comes out. Maybe there could be a collaboration on ideas. Since I’ve never really done this in fanfic before. Someone else or I write the first chapter and open it up to additional chapters by other writers. So we can work collaboratively on a story. Kinda depends on what people are into though.

Well I would argue that I did that already. My Buffy story called Scooby Gang Time includes a chapter called “Willow Group”. You can guess what it means given that it aligns with your idea. I’ve got a couple ideas for the Buffy subdomain but very busy in other subdomains at the moment. Maybe when the new version of the archive goes live, I might add some. Although I don’t want to overwhelm my readers.

Hmm, I didn’t realize this was a thing that was out there. As someone who wrote a bunch in the Buffy subdomain, this could be fun.
