  1. I went through a number of attempts myself, before I settled on the one I did write. Some even had more naughty priests than this one did.
  2. Found myself having to reread a couple of sections, maybe I was reading too fast. Aw, so I made it too scary? Thanks for the praise
  3. Chapter 6 is up. Seven either tomorrow or Sunday (most likely), depends on my progress this weekend.
  4. I felt a bit cheated, with the movies, I mean, with the Hobbit at three, then certainly the LoTR could’ve been six, or even nine! Imagine, the scouring of the shire, a nice little short story by itself, could’ve made it in.
  5. Hmmm… maybe we ought to start up a Mary Sue fan club, lure them into a trap….
  6. Thanks, I like putting spins onto classics at times. And this is about the limit I put onto clothing description: “A man wearing black leather pants, a black leather jacket, with a natural leather button up shirt and a red leather tie.” In this case, I’m trying to portray the image of a man not to be trifled with. I haven’t ran across many Mary Sues, but I’ve heard enough to get a feel of what to avoid in my own stories. Even in original fiction, the same things hint at an underdeveloped/under thought character – for a main character.
  7. I kinda prefer my characters to be undressed… but that’s me. And, if it takes multiple paragraphs, that’s fine I did write one scene, though, where it was a couple doing a reverse strip tease, getting dressed from nakedness, but that was more about how they didn’t really want to get dressed.
  8. Afraid those 2-5 pages can’t be helped when you go reading the fashion catalog.
  9. I wonder what a “razor clam death test” is all about?

  10. I consider the term to be generic, for the under-developed and/or overly-powered (perhaps self-inserted) character. It’s easy to accidentally do, to have a flawless character, if the author isn’t paying attention. Other times, it might be deliberate, especially when it comes to a super hero.
  11. Have to admit I was wondering about the sudden surge in comments on years old topics, but I’m guessing the debate still rages today, and it’s every bit as relevant. A web comic about Sue: http://interrobangstudios.com/comics-display.php?strip_id=989 I try to avoid Sues myself (maybe name a non-sue OC as Sue….?) However, if Sue is what floats a particular author, gets ‘em writing, gives them experience to then go back and judge, that’s okay too, because we all have to start somewhere and we’ll all make mistakes (unless the byline is Mary Sue...she’ll get it perfect the first time).
  12. That’s an interesting take on the Sue issue there, BW. And reading that, I think I see a bit of the anti-Sue in myself….
  13. Naughty priests, yeah, pretty much a given in my universe. Hmm… maybe something for the Holiday story?
  14. Two likely causes for the dialogue issues, 1) there were some references to Dale’s Game while also trying to avoid major spoilers, and 2) I revised it multiple times, so it was very easy for bits of dialogue to have gotten “lost”… apologies there, maybe another beta would’ve helped, or perhaps I was perilously close to that over-revision effect. But yeah, it was a fun thing to write, overall. Yes...yes *twiddles fingers in a menacing fashion* Father Jordan, one of my concepts I was mulling over would’ve involved him and gone deep into Minor1 territory. And, thank you for the review.
  15. I’ll add in some detail, but the rest, I let the reader fill in the cracks, help engage them.
  16. My entire original universe started off as a PWP, and I started to wonder, “how did they get there?” Wham, stories upon stories, and a plot bunny breeding ground.
  17. Chapter 5 is now posted. I’m not sure I’ll get ch6 up tomorrow, kinda depends on how much progress I make tonight.
