    Glad you liked it!
I actually hadn’t seen that pic from Relatedguy until your comment compelled me to look for it on Rule34. The inspiration (for this chapter, at least) came from DoctorYnot’s Loud House fic “Make It Wit Chu,” in which Lincoln is serially sexually abused by each of his older sisters.
Anyway, hope you’ll enjoy the next chapter just as much. Thanks for the comment!

Here, I’ll post responses to reviews of my Steven Universe fic “Splinter.”

Remain calm and breathe evenly. I’m working on the next chapter, but it could take a little while; partly because there are a lot of details to attend to, and partly because I have several other stories going at the same time.

He’s got more shocking surprises coming. Good thing he’s a resilient young man.

No, not in this fic. Although I’m a big fan of incest and have written other Loud House stories that involve it (“Whoops” and “The Loud House After Dark”), I’m not including any incest action in this one. Lincoln and Lola will be getting it on with someone, though; stay tuned to find out who.

Absolutely! I think sometimes it's a case of the writer not trusting their words to paint a picture without the help. Or not trusting the reader to understand or get attached without the life story. At least that's been my experience. But a character's actions and decisions are far more effective to get the reader hooked enough that they'll crave that backstory over time.
I don't know if I'm making sense anymore tonight lol.

I agree--backstory has to come at the point when it’s relevant, and not in a data dump sometime beforehand.
I remember someone sending me the first chapter of a story to beta, and my chief comment about it was, “I don’t want to know all of this yet.” She was explaining way too much, which tends to lead to all telling and no showing.

I love that he doesn’t consider what’s in his own head to be canon, even though it’s his work. And, of course, I love that he’s so positive about fanfic.

I do several things to try to avoid “sameness” in my writing. The one I’m engaged in right now is writing a story based on someone else’s idea. I recently got my 300th follower on Inkbunny, and I celebrated with a story raffle: Anyone following me could submit a story idea, and I randomly selected a winner and am now writing a story based on the winner’s idea. I’ve done this a couple of times before, and both times, I’ve been happy with the result, even though the ideas were ones I would never have come up with myself.

Man I’ve been away for a while and I find it sad that ForgetMeNaught left on such a note. I truly respected his skill as a writer. It is a shame that his moral awakening not only made him abandon his work but remove it as well, I honestly can’t see the connection between his work and his poor choice. I’ve had people comment that my work reminds them of dark urges they have and I could only apologize and tell them that my work was never intended to inspire real life actions.

Agree with BW. The really good inspirations are the ones that stay with you, that develop themselves in your head instead of fading away. Any idea that quickly vanishes from your mind probably wasn’t worth your time, anyway.

I find that it helps to let ideas percolate for a bit before I start writing anything. That tells me whether the idea is sufficiently compelling to keep me writing until the story is finished.

Yeah, I write them down ASAP too, but that helps remember the ideas, not so much retain the inspiration. For me, an idea and being inspired for an idea are two drastically different things, and in my hands, a fully formed idea is worthless without the inspiration to bring it to life.

I can so relate to this. I have so many things floating around in my head, but when I try to pin them down, they’re gone, or else the words are awkward, and don’t fit right. I know what I want to say—it’s right there, on the tip of my tongue—but then I try to define it, and the whole mess falls apart in my hands.
I’ve decided it will be written when it wants to be written, and I can’t force it, whatever it turns out to be.

Thank you! That’s high praise indeed.
That’s terrific. My black cats are all ex-strays, too, and they just make me happy.

Yes, this was kind of a wish-fulfillment poem. Unfortunately, my neighborhood is a popular dumping ground for unwanted pets, which includes a disproportionate number of black cats. I’d love to think that those who abandon them eventually get theirs – and that those who adopt them get theirs, too.

Thank you for the review @GeorgeGlass ! I dunno why, but all my Halloween ideas this year involved some asshole victimizing the wrong dude. I usually like the survival horrors best! Oh well, might as well go with the flow!

Definitely, many of my stories originate with my feeling that I have a good story to tell.
With regard to porn stories, they always begin as fantasies, and I write them up because I feel that they become hotter if they have an existence outside of my own head.

It all depends on which idea you think will make for the best story. But it doesn’t have to be all or nothing; you may decide that there is an element of the reviewer’s suggestion that you want to weave into the story direction that you have in mind.
