  3. I've been able to locate your account here, and I'll add you to the queue to have your email address updated. It can take up to 48 hours for this to be processed, so bear with us. You'll be notified as soon as that's been done, and then you can update your account for the new archive code. The process is stepped out here, and should you need to, the process to clear your cache and cookies is also laid out.

  8. This is always a good idea, so let me contribute a few of my favorite links. I'll open with one that is a must for us all: Poison Pen's Guide for Amateur Writers of Erotica Fiction Factor has some good articles in the dropdown menu. I use Grammar Revolution for my kids as a punctuation guide, although it has other good guides. These rules for using numbers in stories are handy. And one of my all time favorite links, our very own Melrick's guide to world building. It's essential if you're creating your own 'verse, and I rely on it.
  9. My baby boy graduated middle school today. He got the Science and Social Studies awards! I'm such a proud Mama!

  10. Thank you. The correction is fine, and we appreciate it.

  13. I think reviews are marvelous, and I love getting them. I'm also aware that most of my fandom works aren't in the more "popular" arenas, and the traffic past my little fics is meagre as best. How sad for me, but those are the breaks. Still, I'll write whether or not I get reviews. But they do make me very, very happy.

  17. Honestly, I don't mind if an author wants to write formulaic stuff. Just don't try and tell me that it's high art, or ask me to pay USD13 for the Kindle version of it.

  20. @Sarina: The issue seems to be that you have not yet finished validating, as you suspected. I'm not seeing a duplicate account for that pen name. Have you looked in your Spam folder or Junk folder to swee if the validation email is there? It will have come from anonymous@aff.nexcess.net.
  21. Trust me, given the quality of Patterson's books lately, we all should have let him kill off Alex Cross.
  22. The best thing to do is to use a standard disclaimer: "I do not own Rurouni Kenshin and I do not make a profit from this story."

  24. Sometimes a chapter needs to be that long. There might not be a good place to break off, or you want to finish that dramatic scene in one shot without a cliffie. There's no hard and fast rule. James Patterson writes short chapters and his books are formulaic and forgettable, aside from the distasteful fact that he review whores in public. George RR Martin writes long chapters and I can't put his books down. If an author can hold my attention for 10,000 words straight, that's brilliant.
  25. @Sarina: You need to give us the user name you registered with. You will most likely need to be merged if you've created two accounts, but without at least a user name, we can't help. I wouldn't recommend post an email address in a public forum, however.
