The reason I mentioned tv vs. an extended movie was because it would have to be seriously extended to include the whole story (or at least most), especially the later books.
-
I wonder if there's a way we could get them to do it. Though they'd have to either find another kid to play Harry Potter and the other characters or they'd have to make it a cartoon.
-
That's nice, I'm sure there are stories with Sasusaku that some will like. I'm sure there are some that are very well-written ones, but I personally refuse to read them because I abhor (I like that word ) that pairing and my feelings for Sakura aren't too far above that.

I was watching the Goblet of Fire movie the other day and thinking about how much of the books were left out of the movie. So I started thinking it would be nice if Harry Potter could be turned into a tv series where we could see everything and nothing would be cut out. Anyone agree? Who would watch the show and also who would buy it if it came out on DVD?

I'm yet another yaoi fangirl. I started reading het but it started to lose it's appeal once I fond some good yaoi stories. I like pretty much any pairing involving Naruto, but I lean towards the less common ones. Though that kind of includes pretty much everyone but SasuNaru. I don't mind SasuNaru, but there's a bit of an overabundance. It's like people have no imagination:'( I'll also read some het pairings still. I don't mind Naruto and Hinata, I read a story once with Naruto and a female Haku that wasn't bad, Naruto and Ino is okay, and I read one Naruto and Sakura story I didn't mind (though for the most part I subscribe to the belief that he's waaaaaay too good for her). But the one pairing that I refuse to read ever, and if I find out a story has that pairing in it, no matter how minor, I will immediately stop reading, is Sasuke and Sakura. Ugh, I seriously don't understand how anyone would think that is a good idea. Not only do I not see Sasuke going for her, ever, but I'm not a huge fan of her character. She's gotten better but she was a bitch in the beginning that I find it extremely hard to get past that. So even if it was possible that he'd go for her, I wouldn't want her to get him because I don't think she deserves to get what she wants.

I went for the obvious and voted Voldemort Reprieve, maybe Draco

You state all your points, which happen to be exactly mine, so well that I don't really feel a need to say anything. So I'll just say 'What she said, I agree with it completely'.

You and my mom would get along so well, you're saying a lot of the exact same things I've heard her say often. Though she's a black female, so the I guess the perspective is a bit different.

Like you said, I can see the different sides of the argument. But I tink affirmative action is necessary at this point because there is still racism in this country, even if it's not as blatant as it was before. I see it all the time where I live, I hear the subtle comments people make. There are so many people who would be extremely insulted if you labeled them as racist, but though they aren't as extreme as others, it's still there. I find I actually prefer the people in the KKK and other such groups because they mince no words, you know exactly where you stand with them. It's the people who proclaim themselves as come fair-minded, then subtly screw you over that I can't stand. But I think I'm getting a bit off my point. What I'm trying to say is still a lot of racism in this country, even among people who consider themselves enlightened. I know that a lot of the places I've been, I was only given the opportunity because of AA, despite the fact that I know that I'm extremely qualified for everything I've gotten. I'll give an example. The high school I went to had a quota they had to fill, so I was let in. But later in my time there, I had several of my teacher's basically imply that I shouldn't have been there and that I stole a spot from more deserving students (their kids actually, there's didn't get into school because of the quota they said). Of course they completely disregarded the fact that I took several AP classes and passed them all with a B or better and I graduated with a GPA over a 4.0. But I didn't deserve the place I was given.

Yes because adoption is just THE solution for all life's problems

Heh heh, you should hear my mom talk about this issue. Pisses her off to no end. I have to say my opinion on this might be slightly biased because I live in Miami, a place with A LOT of immigrants, and I can't stand the people, okay maybe I should be a bit more fair and say it isn't really the immigrants but mainly the cubans. They are the hardest people to deal with, biggest annoying hypocritical assholes I've ever had the displeasure of knowing. But of course, they aren't illegal because we've changed the laws here to make things too easy for them to get in. They want everybody to think what they think and God Forbid anyone express an opinion they don't like. Like instance recently they decided they wanted to have a book banned from schools because they didn't think it portrayed Cuba in a negative enough light. And so the school board had to vote on it, one of the school board members said he was actually getting threatening emails and he truly felt himself and his family were all in danger. Over a stupid book. Now I find it funny that they want us to condemn Castro for supposedly not giving them any freedom of speech yet here they are trying to take away ours because it doesn't agree with what they think should be said. Ugh, I can't stand Cubans. But I guess all of that is leading up to me saying that I don't think we should make it any easier for them to come in or to reward them for breaking the law. I'm yet another person who doesn't know the exact wording, but from the bit I've heard, I gather that part of the plan is to take the illegal citizens who are here now and have been here and just make them legal. And I don't think that's right especially when there are those who didn't break the law and who did go through the process and did things the right way. That's like saying to everybody who might want to come here, don't bother it's okay. You can come here anyway you want and it's fine, don't bother actually trying to do things the legal way because it's basically a waste of time since you can just do things the illegal way.

I know people who do exactly that. And while some do do it for the extra money but also take the responsibility seriously some just do it solely for the money and don't give a crap about the kids. I know a woman who rotated her way through foster kids not doing much of anything for them, one actually ended up getting pregnant at 15 and added her own kid to the mess that is Child Services. And to StoryJunkie, I really wish you'd stop spouting off nonsense and "sarcasm".

Pro-Life and Pro-choice are labels, like Liberals and Independents, that represent people who have a certain belief. So that whole statement is crap. In my opinion, unless your unsure, you are either pro-life or pro-choice. The legality or illegality of it is moot like you said, but not in the way you say. Your beliefs are your beliefs whether the law agrees with you or not. Like me, I'm anti-death penalty. Obviously it's legal since it's still being done but that doesn't change what I believe. Your condemning women who've had abortions, then saying I'm not pro-life or pro-choice, is just a cop out in my opinion. What does that have to do with abortion? Actually nothing is 100% fool proof. I've heard of cases where birth-control fails for whatever reason and women still get pregnant. And on the issue of getting your tubes tired and an abortion costing about the same, that's just absurd. I know abortions aren't cheap but surgery A LOT more expensive. So there are a lot of women who can't afford surgery. Not only that, on the pro-choice/pro-life board I follow, there have been people who've gotten pregnant while taking birth control. There was actually one who got pregnant while on birth control, using a condom with spermaticide. There were also people who've had kids after having their tubes tied. So as far I can tell the only way of ensuring that you don't get pregnant is full removal. And how many poor people can afford that. Abortions are definitely more accessible.

I'm sorry but the majority just made no sense. It's like your just rambling now.

I swear you are just purposely misunderstanding me . What I said is "I think what most pro-lifers and even others who are ambivalent forget is that pro-choice means just that, Choice." That says Most, not all. So while you might recognize the Choice in the term pro-choice, there are many that don't. There are plenty, believe me and they don't just say things. Just by virtue of the fact that they are trying to get laws to remove our choices shows that they are doing more than talking. Also they act on their beliefs in a way that is negative and hurtful to others. For an extreme example, there was the guy who decided to go assassinate doctors that performed abortions. I think the fact that a lot of doctors hide the fact that they perform abortions shows that many pro-lifers are more than just talk. They stand outside abortion clinics and heckle and harass the women going inside. For a slightly less extreme example, I'll give you a story that I saw on a Pro-choice/Pro-life Board. I don't remember exact details so I'm probably messing up the story a bit and I can't find it again, but basically a group of pro-lifers set up an office alongside a Planned Parenthood. They were basically waiting for people who mistakenly went into their office instead of where they meant to go. The story was basically about what happened to one girl. She went with her parents are mistakenly went into the wrong building, then the people got all her personal information and set up and appointment for her to have an abortion at the correct Planned Parenthood office. From that point on, she started getting harrassed constantly. Phone calls, people in her school, out of the streets, her parents were also being harassed. Then when she went in, nobody at Planned Parenthood knew anything about an appointment so they realized their mistake and what had happened. And it seems like this is a scam that's been happening in many different places all over the country. Pro-lifers are definitely more than just talk as you seem to believe. What is that supposed to mean?
-
I think what most pro-lifers and even others who are ambivalent forget is that pro-choice means just that, Choice. The right for each person to choose what they feel is right for themselves based on their personal circumstances. Whether it means that they have an abortion, keep their child, give it up for adoption, or whatever other options there might be. We don't feel it's our right to decide for others. It is possible to be pro-choice, but be pro-life personally. My mother for instance is against abortion but she is pro-choice. And in the end I think that is the best solution for all because everybody makes their own personal choices, but most pro-lifers truly believe that they should have a say in how others live their lives and that is completely absurd.

You should be careful with the Bite me's. I used to say that all the time until I ran into someone who actually did bite me, not very fun
-
And it's people like you with your attitude that make me so amazingly sick. You have a lot of nerve to believe that you have to right to tell other people what to do with themselves. I sneer at you, because you obviously have no idea of the harsh realities of life and the fact that in many instances these children that you would force to be born are often better off. To force someone to bring a child into an extremely unfit situation is completely absurd. And I swear if I hear someone say adoption I will scream. You pro-lifers preach adoption like it's the ultimate solution. Ugh, the ignorance. Whatever that's all I have to say because really no matter what I say you will continue to believe that you are so special that you should be able to tell other people what they should do with their own lives and their own bodies.

It was pretty quick, though it could be partially due to the fact that she still looked like she was in elementary school that he picked up on it so quick Also I have a comment on the library issue. I worked in my college library (I know it's a bit different than a public library but it's close enough) and any adult material is kept behind the desk and checked out by us. So an underage person wouldn't be able to get to it there even if they wanted to. The library I go to here at home doesn't have any adult material that I've seen in the library, and I've been going to that library for years and years, so I'm assuming they either don't have any or they do the same as the one I worked for and keep it behind the desk until to be checked out by adults.

It's ridiculous and in my opinion if someone is found to be doing this they should be fired and stripped of their license. In my opinion, it's like a doctor refusing to treat a critically injured patient because they're black

You know what's hypocrisy, Ultra conservative pro-lifers who are majorly anti-abortion but are also pro-death penalty. A life is a life whether you it's worth it or not. But you know what I think most pro-lifers forget or just choose to ignore, while their beliefs are limited to you do what we think you should do, pro-choicers believe a woman should do what's right for her personally whether that is to have an abortion, keep the baby, or put it up for adoption. One thing I have to say though, pro-lifers preach about adoption. Preach and preach and preach and preach, yet there are thousands and thousands of kids out there waiting to be adopted, in group homes or being bounced around to different foster homes. Why don't you people who are into forcing a woman to have a child even if it is unwanted adopt these children and give them homes? I doubt most of you would be willing to do that. So until the day your going to go and bring all of these kids into your homes and take care of them, you need to shut the hell up and let people do what they feel is right for themselves. And btw there is a point where they stop performing abortions unless there is a health reason connected to it. I'm not positive but I think it's sometime before the end of the second trimester.

This is something I saw on Wikipedia the other day, I thought some of you might find it interesting. "A group of teenagers calling themselves the "Author Alliance" began to go around ffnazi.net reporting thousands of stories which allegedly broke the site's Terms of Service. Its leader, GTA Jake, tackled first the Sonic the Hedgehog series, expanding into such archives as Pokémon, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda. An opposing group, led by Metaletemon27 and Arianna, criticized their methods and alleged blatant disregard for artistic freedom." And on the issue of the age limit, I don't think there should even be an argument. You might not like the law and you might think the more mature teenagers should be allowed to read the stories if they wish but in the end it comes down to what the law is. The law says no one under a certain age and that's that, no argument necessary. I can tell you that bookstores do try to keep kids away from things that they don't think they should read. One way is a lot of things are wrapped in plastic to keep anyone from reading it. And I remember once I was in a bookstore with a friend and she decided she wanted to try to read the kama sutra, almost as soon as she picked it up one of the workers came and asked her age then told her to put the book back because she wasn't old enough to read it. Of course this won't always be successful, just like the site won't always be able to keep minors off but the effort made to keep them off/out/from reading anything inappropriate is for the protection of the people running things.
