Thanks. And so? All it takes is a job and the willingness to go. After all, you had to meet her somehow right? So why not go the extra distance to make it a physical meeting as well? I still fly out to see my friends in Colorado, and I work as a waiter for basically tips. When the heart is willing, the brain finds a way. (Also something I have experience with mind, but that's a longer story. Let's just say that so far it has been ruled that I haven't crossed over into being a jackass.) And why would you be a pedo? As long as she's not sixteen and you're forty-five, what's the big deal?

Dark, just a couple of points: 1) Don't feel bad about crushing on a new girl. Simply accept it as sign that you weren't meant for the other girl. 2) Don't worry about long distance relationships, at least if there is a chance of eventually getting together. I spent a year talking to the girl I'm going out with now, while I was in Colorado and her in New York. We've now been together for two years (and I went back to New York.)

Then I ran into a serious case of Real Life, which included rope, finals, and tents. Now that summer is on, I should be able to get everything going, hopefully by the end of this week. If I survive my work schedule that is...

Raphealla, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. The problem doesn't lie with eugenics, which is little more than controlled evolution in action. The problem lies in the ways in which it was carried out. To whit; rather than trying to control who bred with who for which genes, it was instead determined that large portions of the gene pool shouldn't exist. The difference when it comes to designer babies is that there is no such denial of the right to live or procreate. Rather the opposite, in fact, as it means that those people who would normally be unable to breed without high risk of a child born with a genetic defect would be able to have children normally. If anything, the ability to remove unwanted genetics might just be an improvement the human race needs; after all, there are only so many combinations which can be created with our genetics. If we could target the root causes of things like Downs Syndrome, Parkinson's, or any one of a host of other defects, its worth it. Now, does that mean I support 'fashion' babies? Not really; It comes down to the same sort of problem I have with genetically engineering supersoldiers or creating robotic weapons. People just aren't responsible enough to acknowledge where they will run into problems, and there is the chance that the child would be forced to bear the stigma of what ever choices were forced upon it by the parents.

Hmmm, a couple nits to pick: The first isn't really science doing anything wrong. The lab technician is just providing the facts to the mother, not ordering her to get an abortion. It is her choice to make, and if she chooses to make a stupid one, then it is her fault, not the technician's. If I tell you to be careful crossing the railroad tracks and you get hit, is it my fault for providing the warning? On the same note, if you're late instead, is it still my fault? Or did you choose to make a decision based on the information being provided to you? Designer babies, I really don't see what's wrong with it. Ok, sure, I'd really hope we don't get to a point where we are putting Zebra stripes on our kids because its the fad for a few years. But if you had the ability to make sure your kid wasn't diabetic, or didn't have Down's Syndrome, or half a dozen different other genetic defects, wouldn't you take it? Sure, there will be people who want their kid to be a super athlete, or a musical prodigy, but so what? As long as the kid isn't harmed, there's nothing wrong with wanting your kids to succeed and providing them the means to do so. Antibacterials aren't "creating" superbugs; they're simply leaving them a wider environment to breed in. This would be true of any use of medicine, as that's simply how life works. Sometimes we win, and manage to quash something like polio till it is almost unheard of in many countries, and sometime mother nature gives what ever we're fighting a little extra nudge to keep it ahead of us. It works the other way as well. As more and more 'superbugs' become apparent, the folks with stronger immune systems will be able to fight them off, making it more likely they'll breed.

Ah, I thought this was about the Hadron supercollider they were building near Hawaii, the one that was going to convert Earth to a black hole when they turned it on. I don't know what the big worry is about science. If the biologists dont cook something up, the physicists will. And if neither of them succeeds, we'll be slammed by something else, and they'll get the blame for not stopping it in time.

Keith, I think they misread that as xenophobia, which is taken as the fear of other races. English doesn't do so well when we start using the Greek and Latin forms... Basically, the way it works is this. A long time ago, during the First Age, the realm of FanFiction.Net was taken over by the evil FFN. (Does Fanfic.net still come up as FFNazis?) The FFN saw themselves as holy crusaders, and tried to purge the realm of all that they thought of as Unclean. (Basically anything with an M rating, no matter why that rating was given. What this really accomplished, however, was to create a realm where fear ruled, as all it took to have a story removed as a single accusation. Other accounts were protected for some unknown reasons, while innocents perished in the flames. Out of that particular mess, a series of pilgrims set out to establish their own land, one where everything would be embraced and tolerated, at least so long as it was well written. They openly enjoyed the sharing of ideas, and so they dubbed their new country AdultFanfiction.net. What was once a small gathering of like minded individuals grew, and under the blessings of the Great God Google, expanded as more and more folks came to know of its existance. This was the First Age. The First Age soon gave way peaceably to the Second Age, during which the site prospered and grew. But as everyone was happy, there was little outright control being managed, other than the occasional battle against the Troll Army that showed up every now and again. The Forum was born around then, but it was a much smaller affair, as it wasn't mandatory to sign up for it. Sadly, the Second Age came crashing down in a horrible explosion, the cause of which remains unknown, as those who survived weren't there to take part. Only the victors and losers know the truth behind those events, and they aren't talking.* When the smoke cleared, the Second Age was over. We are now in the Third Age, and once more the site is expanding and growing, though this time there is a little more oversight to it, to ensure that it doesn't collapse under its own weight again. Several of the Ancient ones are still about, posting every once in a while and generally watching and seeing what takes place. The Forum is also much expanded, and has attracted a new population. What happens next is yet to be determined. *This isn't entirely accurate, as several people who are still around do have some idea of what happened, and at least two of them probably have details. But since the entire event has been taken care of, and has no current bearing on the present, its basically been declared closed. These things happen.

It was actually 3-9 minutes, and that was only counting time after penetration, not counting foreplay. I believe it was that sometime after that it would begin to become uncomfortable.

Well, we won't be ending up in fandoms, at least not at first. And by the time we do start jumping into fictional universes we should have a large enough cast assembled to just make it an effort at reacting to the things around you. Most of it, however, would end up taking place in what we consider the 'real' world, though after the antics we get involved in, it might not seem so normal to others. That was actually why I chose the Fruitbaskets example. I'm fairly sure that no one outside of the otakus has heard of it, and the only reason that I thought of it was because one of the girls I hang out with had a boxed set of DVDs with her. Its not the settings that become important; but the characters and the action that goes on.

Well, everyone will start on Earth Prime, at least to begin with. The opening chapter (whcih I plan on writing between now and Saturday) is going to involve the FFN deleting just about every universe except for two: Foe's home (this world) and their own. From there you can build on it however you wish. Part of this is because the last one started with everyone scattered to the winds, and they pretty much stayed that way. After that, you can introduce parts and pieces from whatever fandoms you choose, you are not limited to mine. But as I have never seen an episode of Fruits Basket in my life, I would be hard pressed to use any of the characters correctly. So I dont assume everyone will be able to just whip up something based on that. As for being Eris, the answer is No. Everyone has to be human(oid), with limitations based on that. Even Foe follows that rule, he just happens to be ridicoulously well equipped as a result of his travels. Cal is similar to the Heart of Gold, with the twist that he's based on the caltrop mechanics from Number of the Beast by Heinlein. So he can go pretty much everywhere, anywhere, anytime, and has near limitless space inside of him.

Ok, the way it works is this: My main fandom is SF/Fantasy, especially Heinlein and milfics. Part of Heinlein's writings was the "World as Myth", which was a series of paralell universes based on two concepts: Alternative history and fiction. If an author created a printed work, a world would come into being to contain that story. Foe is such an author who stumbles on to the reality of this, and creates a ship called the Caltrop, Cal for short, with which to adventure amongst these worlds. During one such adventure, he discovers worlds are being destroyed in joblots. He doesnt know who, why, or how. He sets out to find out, and this is where the story begins. The over all plot will pit us against the evil forces of the Fangirl Forces Network (gee, where did I get that particular acronym >.>)who are systematically destroying stories they consider to be "Unpure" and "Defiling of the greatness of the fandom". While not fighting evil, we screw ourselves silly with each other and the various actors/characters we meet, with a heavier emphasis on that. There are of course other groups that might be out there, each with their own agenda...

I wish I could say it was satirical, but with the exceptions of the name changes, those are all almost direct quotes. I wish I could say I changed the names to protect the guilty, but really I just didn't care about them enough to pay attention. As for having to deal with idiocy when you start Junior College, I guess it depends on the college. The professor for my politics courses (I took world last semester, and am taking American this semester) has openly stated that there is a deliberate effort to "liberalize" students in schools. Some, depending on what they are, might provide a more conservative tack, but I've never encountered such an effort, save for the odd teacher here and there. I actually get extra points for playing up my conservative beliefs, because I don't contradict myself or draw as many lines in the sand as some of the "liberals" in the class do. (I do, however, have a reputation as somewhat of an asshole.) Its gotten to the point where some of them have started to side with me, prompting the proffessor to accuse of me of slipping them "Hallucinogenic conservative mushrooms". Tis great fun! The only thing more fun is coming up with ridiculously silly and un-PC essay responses for my English course...
