I don't say what I say to make anyone sad I say it to help explain why a lot of readers (myself included) will pass up reviewing a fic. That's not a turn-off. That's not even whoring. Requests (which is what that is) are perfectly fine. Whoring is this: "I'm not going to post another chapter until I have XX reviews." At which point, I'm completely turned off the fic because the author's decided it's not fun to write, it's a chore. If they don't receive quantifiable validation of their efforts they aren't going to spend their time on it. So if it's not worth your time to finish the fic, it's not worth my time to read an unfinished work. One that I know will remain unfinished, because eventually even loyal readers become irate at an author's demands. What you've done is fine. "Tell me how I'm doing" is imminently acceptable - I just tend not to because people don't like to hear that angels don't sing from where the sun doesn't shine. Most fics I read, authors are afraid of . I'm more inclined to leave :clap: when the author indicates they actually care about their work. (I just haven't gotten to reading yours yet. You are on my list of fics to get to. It's a long list.)

As a reader (and not a writer), I prefer prose. However, if the subject lends itself better to a script/screenplay, I'm fine with it. Just please do the courtesy of staying with one format. This is annoying when one finds it. If you prefer writing in the present tense, the script format does serve better. I've found very few scripts/screenplays that are well-written enough to capture my attention, but I've found present-tense prose to be somewhat distracting. It just takes a moment to acclimate; once that's done - as long as the writer is consistent - I can read either format.

You'd probably save DG at least 3 hours worth of work, as she's the one that does the deleting, so I'm sure she'd be most appreciative. I'll admit that some people who flame make me laugh. ("Come back when you descover some tallent" was one of my favorites that I've had to put up for deletion.) Any bit the authors can do to moderate their own stories to alleviate the overworked archive/forum moderators I'm quite certain would be appreciated.

I checked everything else by this author (and I mean in each archive he/she posts in) for one-chapter fics - the rest appear to be legit. Please check the above post - since they're ANs, Haywire_Hakaze put them there, but each is just the AN announcing the fic will be uploaded to user's website. There's even a sequel to at least one of the one's listed in the above post that's still here (wonder how long before author moves?)

One exception to the 'never works' that I can think of off hand is Steven Ambrose - he was accused of plagiarism after his history texts became extremely popular. It was determined that he did, in fact, copy a lot of his work, so he was discredited as a historian. You can read about it (with passages that were copied and original text) here. I will also point out that he did die shortly after it ws proven that he did steal a good bit of material. Danyealle: no, I have not read it, but there's apparently an official site. It includes brief excerpts about some of the things that can be compared between the two texts (although why some of the passages are in bold I don't know).

Love, there are a ton of stories in the archive that aren't in the right sub-section. I'm not a Ron/Hermione fan myself, but I think part of the biggest problem with these not getting in the right sub-domain is because authors are looking at this huge section of "Hermione" in the middle of Het and don't see "Ron" listed. So they just leave it under Het. Unfortunately, there's 117 pages there to sift through. That's in the Het root. Who knows how many are in the sub-cats that are in the wrong one (there's one in Ginny/Dudley that's actually a Ginny/Draco fic) It's going to be a while before we get to HP with cleanup. But I will keep you in mind when I'm scanning fics and if I see any, I will post them here for you. (And no, I'm not waiting until we get there to scan these - this is my fandom after all! ) For a search, you can try variations of: +Hermione +Weasley -Charlie -Bill -Fred -George -Percy -Ginny don't forget to check the boolean box and click the search button. (It won't recognize "Ron" because it's only three characters long, that's why I had to type it this way.) You can try "Hermione/Ron" (remember it's case sensitive) "Ron/Hermione" (because it's in quotes it's an exact match). These bypass the "3 char" rule because they're string searches. I don't know what all you'll get, but I know you'll probably pull threesomes and a lot of old stuff in the "general" root also. You Still Have All of Me (there's glitches from the crash, so bear with the choppy text; it was on page 102 and has a 5 digit ID, so I know it's choppy without having to read it. ) A moment of passion - per the summary, a PWP Ron/Hermione, ROR. Again, mind the choppy text. Blood Lines - not just RW/HG (it's in the Harry/Snape section), but author promises them in the summary, so secondary pairing.
