It doesn't sound like a problem to me.
In my experience, people care about the consistency of characters, more than anything else.
As long as you retain the consistency of your characters, there should be few, if any, objections about the path they follow and it's outcome.
Of course, people would have a problem with a path or ending, that seems out of line with what is considered reasonable for the world in which your story takes place. But that really goes without saying, usually.
So, if the ending is one that you believe your characters would naturally arrive at, then that ending should be fine.
