Melrick reacted to BronxWench in Beware This Patreon Plagiarist!
One of our members, Sessakag, has had the unfortunate experience of finding their story posted without permission on this site:  https://www.patreon.com/WhatIfFanfics/collections.
The stories that have been used are largely in the Naruto fandom, although there are some crossovers as well.
The worst part? It's behind a paywall. That's right--this plagiarist expects you to pay $10 to listen a story published by the actual author for free right here on AFF. See, that's the plagiarist's hook. These are AUDIO copies. Now, mind you, this plagiarist had their YouTube account suspended, most likely for the very same thing, but they don't seem able to learn their lesson.
If your story has been stolen, Patreon wants you to reach out to the "creator" on Patreon and ask them to be nice and take it down. If that doesn't work, they also suggest filing a DMCA takedown notice (https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/208377833). The catch is that you need a Patreon account to report the stolen content. However, the more times this thief is reported, the more likely it is that Patreon will be forced to take action.
I want to send a huge thank you to Sessakag for reporting this to us. Even if AFF can't tell Patreon how to run their site, we can be proud of our members, who respect the hard work put into creating the fan fictions we all enjoy.

    UPDATE:
Patreon responded quickly to the DMCA request from Sessakag, and removed the story from the Patreon page, although the account hasn't been suspended. If you too have been a victim, please go and file that DMCA takedown notice with Patreon!
    ANOTHER UPDATE:
It seems there are now YouTube videos where this person reads a story aloud, so they haven’t learned their lesson from the first YouTube suspension. If your story was used here, please report it and file a DMCA takedown request.

How do I upload a story in the archive?
The first thing you need to do is to ensure you're logged in as per the picture below:

Click the option in the dropdown menu for Archives and a list of subdomains will appear. Find the subdomain that’s appropriate for your story (e.g. Harry Potter, or Originals) and click on the little green page icon to the right of the subdomain name.  If you’re not sure where your story should be uploaded, look through the archive for your fan fiction and see where it’s uploaded.  If you’re still not sure then don’t hesitate to ask a mod on the forum for help.  Always make sure you’re uploading it to the correct subdomain before you upload it though!

When you click on the icon to the right of the subdomain you want, it’ll take you to a new page.

On the next page, you’ll first have to enter all the relevant information regarding your story, such as title, summary, disclaimer, etc, as well as content tags.  It is very important that you choose all the appropriate tags relevant to your story.  Click that field to open a dropdown with checkboxes for each tag. Failure to include tags will warrant a warning from a mod, and failure to correct it will cause your story to be hidden or removed.

Towards the bottom of the page is where you’ll enter your story, usually be copying it from your word processing software and pasting it into the box provided.  It’s always a good idea to go over it to ensure the formatting is correct.
If all is good then click the “Post New Story” button.  And there you have it!

I think it depends whether you’re reading straight up porn or erotica, since erotic writing is more character driven, and that tends to be what I want from my fanfiction, when I consume it. In any case it’s extremely rare to see multiple orgasms written well, but that’s just my opinion.
I’m not sure you’re asking the right question. If I’m answering this as a reader, and you’re the author, I’m countering with: how did you hook me into your story? Was it the promise of porn/sexual gratification, or something more? Did you make me curious about the consequences/aftermath or make me want more? Because those things are the job of the author. If you hook me right, I will read it.

How do I reply to reviews?
So, you've written your magnum opus, uploaded it to the AFF archive and, lo and behold, you get a review! Fantastic! You'd like to thank them for their review, or perhaps to answer a question they've asked. How? Do you just leave a review to your own story?
No, you don't. The review section of the archive is there solely for genuine reviews only. But there must be a way for you to reply? And There is! All you have to do is to click here to read the rules of how to set-up a review reply forum.

Melrick got a reaction from Wilde_Guess in How to edit or delete a chapter or entire story
How do I edit or delete a chapter?
The processes are very similar. I'll first show you how to edit a chapter. Steps 1 through 3 are identical for both.
    Editing a Chapter
Ensure you're logged in to the archive.  Then click the three bars, as per below.  A drop-down menu will appear.  Select Archives and go the the subdomain where your story is published.
Find the subdomain that contains your story and click on the green icon next to that subdomain.  For example, if your story is a Harry Potter story then find “Harry Potter” and click on that icon.

A new screen will load showing you all the stories you've uploaded to that category. Find the story that you wish to edit.
Beneath the “Edit Story Info” button will be a drop-down box. If your story has multiple chapters, then clicking on this will drop-down a box showing all your chapters. If you wish to edit the chapter, first select the appropriate one. To the right of that, you should see another drop-down box with the word “Edit” in it. If it says “Delete” then select “Edit” from the dropdown. Click the “Go!” button to the right of that. A new page will load which will enable you to edit the story as you wish. Click the “Edit Chapter” button when you're finished. Deleting a chapter
Firstly, follow steps 1 through 3 as above.
As above, select the appropriate chapter that you wish to delete.  With that selected, click the drop-down box to the right of that where it should say “Edit”. Select “Delete” instead. Now click the “Go!” button. Now pray that you've got your story backed up onto your computer because you just realised you deleted the wrong chapter. 😉 Deleting the entire story
Follow steps 1 through 3 as above.
To the right of the “Edit Story Info” button is a button that says “Delete Story”.  Clicking on this will enable you to delete the entire story.

How do I add a chapter to my story?
Ensure you're logged in to the archive.  Then click the three lines on the upper left corner, as per below.  A drop-down menu will appear.  Click Archives.  Another drop-down menu will appear.
Find the subdomain that contains your story and click on the green icon to the right of that subdomain name.  For example, if your story is a Harry Potter story then find “Harry Potter” and click on the green icon next to that subdomain.

A new screen will load showing you all the stories you've uploaded to that category. Find the story that you wish to upload a new chapter to.

Next to each story, you'll see a few buttons, including one that says “Add Chapter”. Click on that.
A new screen loads to enable you to write or copy and paste your story into the box provided. As ever, you should always check over it to ensure all the formatting is correct. If it is then all that remains to be done is to, firstly, ensure you gave your new chapter a name and then click “Post New Chapter” and you're done!

Melrick got a reaction from Wilde_Guess in What's a tag?
So, you’ve come across the word ‘tag’ on AFF or other story sites, in situations such as, ‘Always ensure your story includes the appropriate tags’. If your first response is, “What the hell is a tag, and how does it relate to my story?” then this is the FAQ for you!

A ‘tag’, or ‘story code’, will look like these examples: “M/F, M/M, Oral, Anal.” You can find a more complete list of the tags used on AFF here.

If your next response is something like, “Yeah but I wrote a story with a serious plot, and not just mindless sex, so including information like that might give away an important plot point!” I sympathise with you, since it’s a situation that I myself have encountered. There are good reasons for it, though, and not just because it’s AFF policy that you must include all the appropriate tags or risk having your story hidden until you fix it.

You see, everybody has likes and dislikes. If we’re talking non sexual content, some people only read fantasy stories, while others won’t bother with anything other than horror, for example. Sexual content is just the same, perhaps even more rigidly so for many people. A great many will only read stories that have male/male sex, for example, or only female/female sex, and really have no interest whatsoever in reading a story with any other types of sex in it. In fact, they might even be offended by reading about other types of sex. Some people are positively repelled by rape stories, so that’s a tag that people like that will definitely want to see listed before they think about reading it.

If you don’t list your story with the appropriate tags, then, aside from everything else, you risk getting nasty reviews from people that felt tricked into reading your story, or feel angry that they invested time and effort into reading a part of a story they never would have started if they had known what to expect in advance.

So while you might feel that including the tags compromises your story in some way, they are important. Besides, a well written story is still a well written story, and tags will never change that.
