What is an "Author Profile URL"?

What is an AFF Author Profile URL, and how am I supposed to already have one when I'm on your site for the first time and I'm trying to sign up?

An Author Profile URL is the address of your account on the archive portion of the site. In order to make an account on the forum (where you posted your question), you need to have made an archive account first. The forum is a separate entity, and in order to sign up for the forum, you need to make an archive account first.
