Is there a way to update a story without sending it to the top of its category? I sometimes go in and correct errors that I find after a story is posted, but the new system treats these stories as though I’d added a chapter or something and sends them to the top. I don’t want to be unfair to the people who have posted new stories or chapters, so I’m wondering whether there’s a way to prevent this.

From my perspective as a moderator, it’s a good thing, since I wouldn’t see updates like new chapters otherwise.

No, I get that you want stories with new chapters to move to the top. My question is, if I go into one of my old stories just to fix a typo, how do I stop that story from moving to the top?

There’s no way to make the code differentiate. Any change to a story, whether a chapter edit or a new chapter posting, will bump the story up. Honestly, it’s not like you're tweaking errors just to bump your story up. If we do see that some members are doing just that, however, we will take action.
