Feeling jolly? No? Well let’s fix that, shall we? Welcome to AFF’s 2024 Winter Holiday party! Contributions to this festive anthology must be:

  • A complete oneshot (less than 45k words)
  • Original fiction
  • Holiday themed (any December-ish holiday: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, you name it)
  • Tagged with all applicable warnings at the top of the story

So grab a hot beverage and anything with a keyboard, and let’s story-party!

Hmm, I almost want to post my story here even though it’s not totally finished just for the heck of it. Mainly because it has Santa in it.

I am on Chapter 6 of an 11 part and the first part does focus on Christmas.

I think I messed up; I now dimly recall that you’re not supposed to put the story in the archive until there’s at least 1 actual story to put in it. So @Deadman, if your piece will work at all as a standalone story, I say go for it.

Well, in theory it could. Although it kinda sets up a bigger story.

Basically, it’s set in Riverdale where Betty, Veronica, Archie and Jughead go on a winter getaway to a cabin and decide once at the cabin to “explore their options”. In the chapter, on the way to the cabin they happen upon Santa by the side of the road having sleigh trouble and they help him get on his way. But that’s basically the end of anything Christmas related.

You could always put a note at the end telling folks who want to read on where to go (or, if that isn’t ready yet, a “Coming Soon, watch this space” note plus the URL of your archive profile).

Perhaps although would it have to be a completely different story? With a different title and everything? Or could I just add a new chapter later?

I’m not really following that, but I say do what you want to do. I’m not going to be picky if someone is willing to contribute.

I guess what I’m saying is, should I post it for Christmas as:

“Merry Christmas”

And then the version with multiple chapters is called:

“The Getaway”

Or can I just post the first chapter of “The Getaway” and then later add a second chapter, a third, etc.

Mine is up.

Merry Christmas Betty and Veronica: After a weird experience changes their perspective on each other, Betty and Veronica decide to go away for the Christmas holidays with their boyfriends. When they finally confront what happened, they decide to explore what exactly it means.
