Fate: Gamer Night - Shota Edition

Handle how? Okay, granted, Martha would probably be a mana hog with the Tarasque, but Mordred would likely be no worse than Saber in that regard, and Okita and Ushi would probably be pretty efficient, really, compared to a lot of other Servants. And personality wise, they all seem fairly reasonable. The only one with any real issue is Mordred, and even she's someone that can be reasoned with on most matters.

Compared to how EMIYA has his own agenda entirely separate from what Rin wants, they'd theoretically be a much safer bet.

Alright, so, I kind of regret asking for Rin-Servant compatibility now, because I just realized she might not even have to rely on that at all. By the time this Holy Grail War comes around she'd be three years older than she is in Canon, right? So by that time she'd already be in the Magus Association and might have enough standing to order in a catalyst like Kayneth did. Which begs the question of which "Saber" Servant would she aim for? Unless we're sticking with Mordred, because that works too.

Regardless, your input is very much appreciated, Kodos.

Rin would still most likely aim for the best possible Saber. Defaulting to the FGO list, since it's the largest, some version of Arturia, or really probably any member of the Round Table, Siegfried, Okita, and Rama are the only ones I think of as being on her list. Arturia because Excalibur is the most famous sword in the world, Siegfried because he's equally a solidly famous hero and also because, at least lorewise, he's really strong, Okita because Rin is Japanese and would know about the legendary skill of the Shinsengumi, and Rama because she might know of him and Indian myth is kind of crazy OP.

Those are very good choices for a Saber, yes. Though with Rin's luck they'll be another class entirely.

Just curious, but, how does a Hunter class sound? Basically a Archer-Assassin hybrid. I'm thinking Atalanta. Too redundant?

Hm thinking on Servants, might a possible Caster for Shirou here be Semiramis? She can be summoned, in a Double class, as a Caster-Assassin hybrid.

Is it possible for Atalanta to be summoned in a Double class? Also she's a fun choice since she is noted to be a friend to all children. Edited by warellis

Mmm, my personal view on extra classes has always been hesitant. I mean, the base classes cover most sorts of Servants I could imagine, plus the extra ones that have started showing up. Granted, there could also be something for Servants who fight with their bare hands, hammers/clubs, or other things, but generally, the basic group has good coverage. And in this particular case, since Ichasennin has said that he's planning on using certain characters, I hesitate to think about alternates unless he says something about looking at other characters.

Although yeah, friend to children and loving apple pie. A shota Shirou would totally hit her buttons.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Though I don't quite understand what you mean by him planning to use certain characters, beyond that temporary Servant-Master list he posted a while back.

That's it, really. Basically just that I've been going with the assumption that, until Ichasennin says otherwise, those are the Servants being used, and part of that comes from wanting to not pressure him or try to influence the story too much. I know that having people leaning on you, waiting on you to do something, and/or sticking themselves in and trying to tell you how to do it in can kill motivation, so barring open brainstorming, I try to avoid things that feel too much like I'm telling him how to write his story. Plus, if everything about it is decided and written here in this thread, there are no surprises left for reading the story.

I would say that gets into a sticky "Servant vs Heroic Spirit" debate. Like, my personal interpretation would be that, if they were both summoned and someone were to NTR them, the curse would not apply to the versions of them that are summoned. Buuuut, then you get into the question about what they do and don't remember. Originally, in FSN, it was stated that a Heroic Spirit on the Throne of Heroes is a "perfect, completed being," and that they don't change. What is summoned is a copy of the Heroic Spirit, whose actions are recorded and are accessible by the HS. But given that it's outside space and time, countless possibilities and countless summons and the records of those summons exist, so the probability of "reading" any particular "book" is astronomically low, which is why EMIYA still won't be saved, even after finding an answer he doesn't regret in UBW. Servants don't remember their previous summonings, and Saber is the only exception because what is summoned isn't "a copy of the Heroic Spirit Arturia Pendragon in a Servant body," but "the still living soul of Arturia Pendragon in a Servant body."

Then FGO kind of throws that out the window, with Servants remembering previous experiences, to varying degrees. The shota version of Iskander remembers being in Grail Wars but doesn't feel like it was him. Cu Chulainn remembers being stuck with EMIYA sometimes. Saber understands who and what EMIYA is and worries about him. Angra Mainyu makes references to Hollow Ataraxia. Jeanne remembers people from Apocrypha. Nero remembers Extra and CCC. Basically, the whole not remembering thing has gotten thrown out the window.

TL;DR:

The curse would probably stop effecting them as long as they are summoned. Then for any subsequent summoning, they would have to remember the NTR and still be subject to it. So, they get summoned, NTR happens, the curse stops functioning, they get beaten/unsummoned, some time passes, they get summoned again, same Master that did the NTR, they're provoked to remember the NTR and have the same feeling, so the curse stops functioning again. That's my interpretation, anyway.

Well in Saber's case, she does remember stuff because she sort of really wasn't a Heroic Spirit, as in not being fully dead and all that. But yeah you're right.

Heh for that Children's Grail War idea of yours, all that trap-dom and femdom could possibly help Shirou sort of NTR them & break their curse. :P

You know, actually, thinking about using other Servants, if you wanted, Ichasennin, you could justify a bunch of them in random encounters or sidequests. Shuten Douji, Ibaraki Douji, Kiyohime, and Tamamo as something like "Defeat the oni/dragon/fox" missions, with Tamamo maybe opening up a quest line of beating all 9 of her to face her in full Amaterasu form. Scathach is explicitly still alive, so she could just show up. Okita, Nobunaga, and Ushiwakamaru maybe as a "Hey, it's a Japanese history event!" Brynhildr shows up if his HP hits 0 to try and take him to Valhalla. Something pops up that causes Shirou to pick up a perk that leads Artemis to mistake him as Orion's reincarnation.

And a personal favorite thought of mine, one where the anger and resentment from the Fourth War manifests itself as spirits that Shirou encounters and has to deal with. The one from the Hundred Faced Hassan is weak and can only manifest as the female body that was their main spokesperson in the War. Gilles's is Jeanne Alter. The grudge from all the children Gilles and Uryuu killed forms another Jack the Ripper. Lancelot's madness and Kariya's rejection and attack on the person he loved combine and call Frankenstein's monster. And, though I admit it's a bit of a stretch, Diarmuid's curse and bitterness form, all stemming from being a man who was loved too easily by women, winds up summoning Medb.

And I kind of can't get the image of Jack attaching herself to Shirou because she recognizes him as "another abandoned, victimized child," and wants to protect him from all the "bad people" (Taiga, Sakura, basically all the females he's having sex with), while simultaneously forcing herself on him, because she's also a victim (sort of), so it's completely different and okay, right?

And Type-Moon strikes again its latest addition of unnecessarily genderbent Servants. We now have Xuanzang as a Caster, and if this isn't Son Wukong then I don't know who else. Oddly enough she reminds me of Satsuki.

Does anybody have any information about them and their role in whatever event they star in?

I think the idea is that the player character is filling the role of Son Wukong, with David, Lu Bu, and Li Shuwen filling in as other characters from Journey to the West. The other figure, allegedly, is supposed to be Nezha.

And apparently, part of Xuanzang's character is wanting to prove she doesn't need Wukong to save her all the time, along with admitting to being too trusting and a ditz, so she has to rely on people around her, and being constantly in high spirits and full of energy, only fearing being lonely.

That's all there is so far, just from the TV Tropes page. Her profile and dialogue hasn't been translated, as far as I know.
