Greetings,

I have had a few PM talks with Eveknight about authors and ego (for a long time I couldn't decide if I should delete my XSFGC series because I foo-pahed and put it under Comics/New Mutants vice under the probably more appropriate XMen/Comics/AU).

I can say that my answer would be the 2nd one because AFF was not the first site that I thought about posting it on. I had close to nine chapters written before I went decided to post it online but much to my chagrin, a lot of sites have some stipulations about what you can post. AFF was actually the fourth or fifth option for me to post it at, mainly because I had never heard of this site, I knew of the kid friendly FanFiction site and I got all of my reading smut from other sites. Literoctica.com was my main hang out but they have that silly 'everyone must be 18 or older stipulation' (note: I am not a fan of kiddy porn but to say that kids and young adults under 18 aren't learning about the birds and the bees is a disservice. Yes, I understand that Lit.com is probably trying to protect themselves legally but that doesn't stop it from being sad.)

Thanks and have fun,

I am already posted on four other archive sites. I am in the process of duplicating my entire body of work on two of those sites. The other two are fandom-specific archives. For a long time I was posting new stories only on AFF, mainly out of laziness. yawn.gif

One good thing that has come out of all the recent upheaval here at AFF was it gave me the kick in the pants I needed to get off my butt and start posting elsewhere. I've been putting all my eggs in one basket for much too long. I wish I'd been posting on multiple sites all along, as it would have been much easier that way.

For now, it's my intention to post most of my works here first. Then when they are complete, or nearly so, to begin posting them on other archives. In other words...You guys are my guinea pigs. devil.gif

And so far, AFF is the biggest and most active archive I've found. And it's reasonably user friendly compared to some others. I got spoiled with cutting and pasting into the text box and am having to repackage my work for these other archives. Bleh!

I also post my fics on other sites (LJ, FA, y!gallery, etc) and my own website-- I don't see much point to remaining devoted to one archive over others and I keep 'master copies' of all my stories on hand so I don't have to reformat them-- but these days pretty much all of my hits come from AFFN.

I post my stories everywhere but for my NC18 stories, they are posted here.

The rest even my R's are posted elsewhere like my website, LJ, FF.net and on other websites.

My problem is that I have a habit of sticking to small fandoms. It's hard for me to find archives, fanlistings, etc. that cater to them.

Right now, I post here and on FF. If I find another area to post, I will.

If I weren't so busy, I might create my own archive one day, but I'd probably have an extremely low number of hits.

I post all my original work on AFF, but my fanfiction is posted both here and at MediaMiner -although for a while it was just posted here because I was too lazy to bother posting it elsewhere also.

They count. Any area where one can post their fanfics for free and public reading counts.

I remember this obscure Brady Bunch forum that allowed fanfics but didn't have a special area for it.

That's when I realized that the forum method is good for one-shots but I'd never use it to post multi-chaptered fics. If all the chapters are posted in the same thread, the reviews in between break the rhythm. If each chapter gets a new thread, it starts to get annoying and the OP looks like an unintentional attention whore.

In other words, forum fanfic posting may suit some people, but it doesn't suit me. Archival posting will always be my favorite method.

Then again, different strokes for different folks.

Back when I wrote as Knorg I put my stuff everywhere I could think of. I went for the wide audience rather than any kinda faithfulness.

I cross-post a lot. In addition to AFF, I also post my fics in my personal journals, various lj communities, a GJ comm that I myself moderate (sadly, gj comms are pretty DOA, so I guess it's a bit like pissing in the wind but I have hopes that one day....), Media Miner, and on the very rare occassion ff.net.

GJ, do you mean GI Joes, by chance?

If so, I do agree, those coms are like dead in the water.

If you find a LJ community that is busy, it goes dead as soon as you post to it or join.

I have a GI Joe & Cobra LJ community that is like dead in the water.

But some communities that I am a member or maintainer of are quite quiet at the moment.

Ah. Thought that might have been what she was stated to. But wasn't sure.

There are a lot of communities on LJ that is quiet along with yahoogroups.

Not many people want to post about anything.

I post in a variety of places for a variety of reasons. All posts go to my LJ first. I have some things are are actually LJ exclusive. I also have been trying to get my butt in gear to post everything I've written to my IJ and I have things posted to my GJ.

A few days later (or when I remember, whatever happens first), I post to AFF and mediaminer. I also post to Kirafics for my AnK work and a friend hosts me on her website (she's responsible for updating that though). I've posted stuff to Noire Sensus (FF8) but they're horrible about when things get posted and don't seem to have any kind of schedule for that. I also have a few pieces that people have asked permission to post/link on their site as well.

I only post my stories here, I used to be on fanfiction.net but thought it was mostly people who can't write lol.

I'm a faithful AFF member, my stories are ONLY published here!

I only post here, because AFF has practically no limits of what you can post!

There is no "no bestiality" limits or "no rape" limits or similar. It's awesome like that.

Even my translated stories I post on AFF, in the italian section. Apart from a few ones posted on some italian forum. But all my english fanfictions are here.

to be fair, I've been posting for a long time and I had never heard of aff. I posted on ilovebishonen.com.ar because I am mostly a gundam wing yaoi writer and for the past few years i got really serious and posted on gundam-wing-archive. However, there was a scary time when the archive looked like it was shutting down and I panicked. My friend, who doesn't write fanfiction but is very supportive of my stuff, told me that she knew someone that uses this site. I'm very shy posting my stuff because it can be very squicky and adult (read Gundam Wing Hentai if you dare!) and a lot of people get offended by that stuff so I have to choose where I post carefully (I refuse to post on FF.net on moral basis aka they seem to hate sex). this site really is a godsend. Not only can I post my nc-17 gw stuff, but my novel works as well. So, since I started to post here, it's been my #1

I only post on AFF. There is a wonderful variety of fandoms here.

Most of my stuff (as yet unposted here) is Vampire Chronicles stuff. Most fic pages won't allow VC fics, not even ones based on the movies (which mine are). I'm pleased to see that there really are no limits to what universe's that you can play in here, which is great for a writer.

All totaled I've had some of my fics on three sites. Another site I found a year ago I only added two onto and only one of my fanfics is on yet another site. Though AFF is the only site where I have all of them (the adult ones anyway) - completed and otherwise as well as fanfics and otherwise

I know know any other site thats anywhere near as active ass AFF, FF is a pretty poor archive. And it shows when they have no section for original writing, they have so many damned categories but they don't cater to original fanfiction?

Oh and that lame no NC-17 sex, they are such a large and expansive archive that they couldn't be bothered just adding a bit of alert coding for the NC-17 stories, thats enough for the laws if its included on a website that have more then just that stuff.

I'd find that many people would agree with that fact, that FF went downhill after excluding adult fiction. The only thing that i can find wrong with AFF is that theres hardly any TV fandom writers here.

That's not really fair. They did have an original section until it got so big it needed its own site, and then they created fictionpress for the original stuff.
