Update Alert

I was wondering why there isn't some kind of update alert that a reader can set up. I'd like to know when stories get updated without checking on them every two days.

Many authors announce updates via email or on Twitter. At the moment, the archive does not offer an alert feature, and I do not know if that is part of the new code that is being implemented over the next few months. If it is, it will be announced with all due fanfare.

If it isn't in there it should be. It's a hell of a lot more damn useful than the authors doing that. I know that if I had to remember to do that everytime I uploaded a story to FFN I'd go insane. Haven't uploaded a story here yet but I'm getting ready to.

In the meantime, it's certainly much easier than it used to be, to check update status. You add a story to your current reading list, in your profile.

Didn't know that bit, it is a step in the right direction but auto-notification is the goal I'd have in mind.
