Leonhart29 Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 A friend of mine sent me an email today about the possible problems with some flip flops Wal Mart is selling (and yeah - they're at my local Wally World). After seeing these pictures I made damn sure my kids didn't have any (they don't). Warning - These pictures are graphic - and I've seen burns before - they aren't make up - they're the real thing. Flip Flop Flops Quote
madlodger Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 That really was graphic Looking on the bright side, it could of been a g-string. Quote
Leonhart29 Posted September 3, 2007 Author Report Posted September 3, 2007 Ewwww - oh no - I will NOT think about that. Quote
Guest Adara Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 That's horrible! Leave it to big companies to toss the ball from one to another! *sighs* I hope this woman gets better...I'm glad she didn't buy them for her tot. I think she really would have been beside herself with fury and worry if she had. Quote
Guest echtrae Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Yipes, nasty. Fortunately it healed. Quote
Guest Agaib Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Holy fucking crap! DAMN that looks painful... *plans on watching out for yellow sandals from walmart from now on* Quote
Leonhart29 Posted September 3, 2007 Author Report Posted September 3, 2007 For some reason I feel really fortunate that I've never been able to wear flip flops. When Pam sent this to me all I could do was send my condolences. Quote
ZombieDuke Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 Looks like a chemical reaction, maybe something in the plastic of the straps of the flip flops? I wore flip flops all summer long and all I ended up with tanning lines from the straps... I hope she gets better soon... Quote
EveKnight75 Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 OUCH! This makes me glad that I never developed a taste for wearing flip-flops. I've never found them comfortable. I also don't shop at Wal-Mart that much. Now I'm remembering why. Quote
DarkCabaret Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 I looked at those same flips flops in the beginning of summer. Figured I needed something to wear when I was driving and doing errands. I'm so glad I opted for a pair of tennis shoes instead! Quote
Guest echtrae Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 I'm sure your feet thank you. Quote
Guest Evil_Labs Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 This is on my list of 'why I don't shop at Wal-Mart' reasons, now. Quote
Leonhart29 Posted September 4, 2007 Author Report Posted September 4, 2007 If Wal Mart wasn't the only game in town for groceries at an affordable price I'd never go there. Quote
madlodger Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 I bought a memory foam dog bed at Wallmart. They didn't have it at PetSmart. My dog likes it, his hips are bad. So, some things are good, while others aren't. Quote
Guest Adara Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 I'm with you ladies. Diapers and other baby items are far less expensive for me there. Not to mention Milk, which is basically up the ass everywhere else. Mom on a budget, what can I say? Quote
Acal Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 Looks like a chemical reaction, maybe something in the plastic of the straps of the flip flops?I wore flip flops all summer long and all I ended up with tanning lines from the straps... I hope she gets better soon... Certain types of plastics have acids as bonding agents, the manufacturers have used a dodgy chemical that instead of being netralised completly by the plastic it still retains its acidity and burns the skin it comes in contact with. I would say that its either an acid or alkaly burn weak acids and weak caustic chemicals need about 15 minutes to burn through dead skin to start reacting with the living tissue thats probably whats happened her. It looks the same way my sister had her reaction with hair bleach. Quote
