  1. Well I'm realy glad you're enjoying it ^^. I'm actually putting a good load of effort into this, so feedback is very, very appreciated XD.
  2. Hi hi! Welcome to my review answers thread for DP:LS! I think it's about time I make one, as well... I love bonding with people, and this is a good ground for it. So feel free to drop by here! ^^ My answers might be long, and I'm more than willing to go even deeper XD. So to all my reviewers, past and future: THANK YOU! I truly appreciate getting feedback, and this means a lot to me. So thank you very much! ^^ ~ Rico Teh Emo: I've tried hard to keep the characters IC, but with my own twists. Of course it's a video game and the characters behave a certain way, but you never really get to see what happens when they're walking. When they're climbing towers and moutains and such. What goes on before they go to sleep or wake up. What kinda conversation are they having during breaks. That kinda thing. So I'm trying to give them a more daily human aspect - with feelings that aren't always shown to us players. Sage: Glad to see you're able to keep up with the events! It's ridden with spoilers for the game (well it IS a novelization XD), but I've tried to write for people who've never played it as well by inserting more in-depth descriptions. Or people who haven't played the game in a while (or its DS version). That might be why they appear to be vivid... because I still have problems reading myself lol. Hopebringer Jem: Yeah, there are characters differences. I made Golbez forceful because I picture him as one manipulative bastard XD. There's so many scenes I wish we had seen in-game, more interactions between Kain and Golbez. Obviously Kain has some bond with Golbez bar the mind-control, and I wouldn't be surprised if Golbez hadn't forced himself upon Kain to establish his dominance over him. It's all power-play. Golbez dominating Kain to obtain what he wants, and Kain submitting to get what he wants... and live through it all.
  3. Alright! Due to personal issues, I couldn't upload Chapter 5 yesterday. However, it's up right now. Enjoy!
  4. Just uploaded Chapter 4, with a delightful scene at the end. Have fun reading!
  5. Chapter 3 - or 4 from a technical POV - is now up! Enjoy! ^^
  6. Hi hi! After having problems with the .txt uploader and the RTE, I've reuploaded chapter 2, and added chapter 3 as well. Enjoy!
  7. I believe you can keep more chars relatively IC without sticking to the exact canon, and without being too OOC. Characters, just like real people, may or may not behave the same while they're facing a certain situation. And it's possible to have a different reactions even for the same personality. Making a character react different than what you'd expect him may not always be OOC. Depends of the motive I guess (killing in self-defense doesn't mean the character would kill in cold blood). As long as the writer conserves most traits, or major ones, the reason behind the changes may be valid - the character may acquire, after killing for self-defense... a taste for blood. Or just as well, may go nuts. To me, it becomes too much when there's no explanation for sudden changes to key traits. or the reasons aren't valid by a longshot
  8. Hi hi! Yesterday, I was ranting chatting with a good friend of mine about how I've been getting constant ideas and plot devides for my current fandom, and how I like using set personalities and mold them to different environments. See how they react and deal with changes. What makes them tick, go nuts, break down and cry, or have complete personality or alliance changes. I'll take a quick example with my current fandom, Final Fantasy IV. The MC's your courageous, "no BS, I gotta get moving (on)" bishie knight with a strong sense of loyatly and justice. He does what he feels is right, yet is sometime blinded by his loyalty. He has problems showing his emotions to others, with the exception of his male best friend, whom he's very close to. If you remove the courageous part of his character, I'd feel something is missing. And yet I have no problem making him break down... as long as he goes "Okay, enough, I need to get over it" somewhere in there. Or exploit his loyalty to make him work for the bad guys. Considering fanfiction is well, fan fiction... It'll never be completely canon, else it wouldn't be fanfiction anymore. So I wonder: What do others think is "too much" OOC? Where's that line between IC and OOC? What warrants or justifies a major change in a character's personality? I know it varies depending on the characters themselves, on the fandoms, on the authors... but I'm really curious about what others think. Feel free to give examples as well ^^. Thanks!
  9. Apologizing for a story... that I posted? No, not really. I've had a couple bad rewiews for the ending of my first finished OC story, but I'm not apologizing for that one; the ending was planned from the very very start of it. Couldn't see it ending any other way possible (well I could, but it didn't feel right to me). That I HAVEN'T posted? I have a lot, especially back when I was discovering fanfiction and was writing - like a bunch of 14-year-old girls did at that time - some totally OOC Final Fantasy 7 fanfiction. In my head, back then, it was the most awesome piece of fiction ever written. The ideas were so vivid. 12 years later, I look back at that stuff, shake my head, curse myself, and thank heavens I wasn't even able to post them anywhere. Maybe I'll do that for my current stuff, in another 12 years. Actually I have one, that I've posted on ff.net... if I had been serious about it (I wasn't, it was meant to be a bad parody) I'd be apologizing for.
  10. Hi hi! ^^ Name's Sara, AKA ChibiShiva, and I'm currently free for some betaing work. I'm big on yaoi/slash, some het but it'd depend... I'm more comfortable around out-of-the-"norm" het for some reason (I hate using "out of the norm" as a label, but that's the best I can think of: incest, beastiality, pedophilia, BDSM, femdom and other kinks along the lines). My strong points: Good at keeping characters IC; great grammar and spelling; actual experience in correcting (I'm a localization game tester, and I've done past work for bilingual organizations). I can also beta in French. Things I *KNOW* I have issues with: UK/Australian English slang, some general English expressions. English isn't my native language, and there are cultural references I might miss. Even France French does that to me, I'm from Quebec. What I feel I can beta for: - Original stories, provided I also recieve character descriptions and a summary of their personalities (or a possible outline). Makes it easier XD. - Final Fantasy, pretty much any game from I-X including spin-offs, preferably slash/yaoi pairings. I'm not a big fan of Cloud/Squall though... But I'm able to beta for it. - Onimusha - Tekken - The Simpsons - American Dad - Family Guy - Legend of Dragoon - Chrono Trigger/Cross - Pokemon (games only) Things I won't beta: - FFIV: Cecil/Rosa. I'm sorry, I know it's canon... I don't like it for some reason. And anything dealing with Cecil and an underaged child going at it (ie. child Rydia). - Catboy/Neko, furries, anthro: While I deal fine with beastiality on its own, humanoids with animal features are a total turn-off for me. I'll stick to that for now. Right now, since my workload isn't too high, I'm willing to accept a few requests. We'll see as people post . Feel free to drop me a line here, or email chibishiva@hotmail.com! Thanks for reading!
  11. As her proofreader, I can assure you that this is true. XD I think it's why I love to write one-shots, anyways, when it comes to fanfiction. I don't have to worry about hitting a block, or losing interest. I write one chapter, maybe 10 pages or so, and it's done, I can move onto something else. I do feel bad when I can't finish a fic, though sometimes I can't avoid it for the sake of (whatever remains of) my sanity. And this is where the difference between OC and fanfiction comes into play for me... It's easy for me to come up with a one-shot when the characters are already known. When they don't need a background, because the background, or most of it, is already there. It's hard to develop a one-shot with OCs, considering you need to explain their background for the story to make sense. Sure, I could pull off some OC one-shots, but my characters tend to have complex backstories I can't necessarily put in one chapter. I may not lose interest TOO fast, but I can't, for the life of me, write one or two chapters and lose interest, because if I'm writing, I have my beginning and my ending set in stone. If I lose interest, it might be after 9-10 chapters or so, because I need filler material, or characters won't cooperate with my setting anymore. So maybe I could plan some more, if I wanted to finish OC stories.
  12. I generally post when I feel like it. I've dropped a couple fics out there, but I go where my inspiration takes me. Which is why I dropped some fics (Sweet As The Punch - M/M OC, and Perfection - FFIV, to name a few). I hit writer's block in places I don't think I might when I plan the fic... or in Perfection's case, when I don't plan enough. Right now I'm posting to DPLS, but I have 16 chapters written to it (the first 14 were done in about a month or two, then it took like two months to get from 15 to 16). I tend not to write when I don't have concrete ideas, so I can't post what I usually can't finish... because I haven't written it [completely]. In other words, I have no set time or chapter count XD;;.
  13. I like music with... a certain beat to it, I think. I don't know how to put it in words, but I believe it's why most pop music - especially the more recent stuff, like Lady Gaga - really, really don't appeal to me. I tend to prefer heavy, fast-paced, bassy beats and at some extent, voices. So most of my playlist is made of Deftones, Rammstein, System of a Down, Cave In, Soilwork, Sonata Arctica and so on. I also noticed these bands can be pretty freaking heavy, as well as very soft. Might be related to that too; caters to both side of me. Then I have alternative and skate-punk - Bad Religion, Pennywise, Dropkick Murphys, NOFX, who are also regulars in my playslists. I've got some pop-ish "mainstream" music as well, but very few compared to my more metal-ish library, and it's mostly older stuff. Stuff like Bush, Moist, Pearl Jam... Almost no showtunes (I hate the key they sing in, I can't help it - the whole reasons why I can't watch musicals as well). Song that gives me the chills: Rammstein's "Wiener Blut" and "Donaukinder" (both based on real events; the Josef Fritzl case in Austria for the first, the second being based off an accident which spilled chemicals into the Danube). Sexy song: Orgy's "Dizzy" is about the closest thing I have to "sexy" XD.
  14. I've got mixed feelings about this myself. I've never done drugs either; I've got no real interest in doing them personally (if I want to escape, I'll just pop a video game in a console or read a book). While I understand how it would be "good" to legalize them - in other words, to have a total control over them - would be nice... but I still see hard drugs as totally destructive. Then again, we have beer legalized - while it's not a hard drug, check the death toll caused by DUIs and the problem caused to child who were born from alcoholic mothers. Or seeing a loved one become an alcoholic. Though when you think about it, everything in excess can become destructive. I guess that a "safer" version of hard drugs would work well. As long as moderation is a key word in it, else it'll end up being the same all over again. Sorry if I sound confusing. Ranting a bit here, lol.
  15. Awww thanks, my love! <3. I needed to get back into some community XD.
  16. Hi hi . So after hitting a major block with my previous FFIV fic, Perfection, I decided to upload this fic to AFF - it's already on dA, but I'm not getting feedback, and barely any hits anyways. Maybe the AFF community will appreciate it more. Because I'm not exactly looking for "OMG THIS ROCKS!!!" reviews. I want actual feedback on what people loved, what they hated, how they feel about... well, pretty much everything. Not recommended if you intend to play the game and want to remain spoiler-free. Keep in mind I'm also switching the romance from het to yaoi. Either ways, I've uploaded the introduction chapter for now. I might end up uploading the first chapter tomorrow, or next week, depending how I feel ^^. Title: Destruction Preventer: Lunar Salvation Author: ChibiShiva (Me!) Rating: Adult+ (for now) Summary: Stripped of his command over the Red Wings of Baron, Cecil Harvey sets off to redeem himself. What begins as a trip to kill a beast, ends up as an epic adventure to save the world. Retelling of Final Fantasy IV with a yaoi romance. Kain/Cecil-centric, with more coming. Feedback: Really, really appreciated! Constructive criticism also welcome - though not entirely negative, please. Fandom: Final Fantasy IV Spoilers: The ENTIRE game as the chapters go - it's a novelization after all. URL: http://ff.adultfanfi...hp?no=600082838 Thanks for reading this, and the fic as well! ChibiShiva
  17. Hi hi! I'm not new here, but I thought I'd say hi again. It's been a couple of years I haven't used these forums. XD So I'm Sara, AKA ChibiShiva. I'm 25... for about one more hour XD. Then I'm turning 26. Straight French-Canadian female, single, and quite geeky. I'm a French video game localization tester (in other words, I correct game text for a living XD), so when I'm not gaming or writing, I'm usually asleep or eating. I tend to write for one or two fandoms at a time, and both are Final Fantasy-related - Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and Final Fantasy IV. I'm pretty big on action, yaoi, incest, BDSM and the like - I'm not much of a WAFF writer XD;; (it happens though!). As for reading... Simpsons, Family Guy, Pokemon, amongst a bunch of others. I used to write OC stories as well, but I've hit one major block a few years ago, and just can't seem to get back into it. Feel free to drop me a line or anything, I'm usually up for a chat if I'm not on some MMORPG .
  18. Hi! ^^ I'm ChibiShiva, Chibi for short XD. I've been posting on AFF for years but I had a horrible case of writer's block (nearly 2 years) and found myself playing MMORPGs. Finally, the writer's block's gone so I'm back at writing; I missed it a lot. I used to hang out on the forums but my account wasn't working anymore and in all honesty I can't be bothered checking if I posted here before or not, so here I am. I'm 23 years old and I'm a student in Eastern-Asian Studies at University of Montreal (and no I won't be attending Otakuthon due to me being out of Montreal until late August ). My fav passtimes are video games, writing, drawing and making a fool of myself amongst my friends, also drooling at bishies when I can. I try not to fangirl too much though XD;;. My favorite bands include Rammstein, Iced Earth, Opeth, Slipknot, System of a Down and Deftones. I used to write a lot of fanfiction, but over the years I've developped my own characters, worlds and whatnot. Because of this, I've dropped my old fandoms (Tekken, Onimusha, FF up to 7) in order to write original stuff. I'm a fan of action-based, fast-paced medieval fantasy (I love sword fights!), probably due to my love for video gaming (oldschool FF fan here), so that settles it for my original fantasy stuff ^^. As for real-life-like, I base myself a lot out of my own environment: thematics, issues, general location, characters. I write male/male almost exclusively, although I do like to have an heterosexual couple every now and then, but my focus is really on male/male. I think that's all for now ^^.
