Seems I forgot the </sarcasm> tag there, was assuming irritating the editor was the point! 
More professionally, it’s always good to make sure it’s about the best you can do (obviously, don’t get so stuck to never submit).

It’s always a good thing to spellcheck a manuscript, and make a grammar check before you submit it to an editor. I can promise you, your editor will still find plenty for you to fix.
@Desiderius Price makes a point, though. If you’re using British English, because your story is set in Britain, or simply because you are British, you should make sure your spellchecker is set for the right language. However, if you’re submitting a book to an American editor, expect pushback on the spelling unless it’s integral to the story.

Well, suppose you could put it through a checker for British English?

The Return of the King also had a bunch of appendices too, histories, family trees, etc – clever way to info-dump without over-burdening the prose.

I do actually make it to the end of things. I just never seem to get around to actually posting them.

I do like to stay semi-realistic with sizes, so no forty feet (unless there’s a potion/spell involved).  A few inches is average, and this particular character’s still growing, so he’ll be above average when done.

I’m glad you got your phone back.
I’m curious as to how the carrier was able to trace your phone to a specific person, however. It doesn’t seem like the kind of information they would be able to get by pinging your phone/sim, unless the thief was stupid enough to contact the carrier and provide that information in an attempt to unlock the phone or some other such thing. This has absolutely tweaked the research portion of my brain now, since my carrier wasn’t able to trace my mother’s lost phone because its battery was dead (I wanted gps data on its location).
Just as a side note, I’m one of those exceedingly paranoid people who doesn’t use her phone as a banking link, email hub, or anything much other than as a phone and occasional camera. What happened to you is why, although I’ve never lost my phone, keys, or even an umbrella. Gloves, on the other hand, vanish with alarming regularity...

Well, suppose you could rewrite it, go for the extended director’s edition, add in another 20k?  Or, add in some extra tentacles?

Oh lord its making me anxious. I want to be done but at the same time what if I screw it all up forever? Yet at the same time I know statistically a few people will like it.
Its like an envoy that I have no control over after its out there.
 
 

How does it feel? I’m always torn when I make it to the end of something. I’m thrilled to be done, but never quite ready to let the little story go out into the world all alone…
