I’m making progress, turned updating off for now as I don’t want a breach while I’m at work. That being said, looks like they were bogged down by the trap that they didn’t get too far. You can post new stories and chapters, but editing existing is turned off.

@DemonGoddessAbsolutely, The whole water will not make a volcano explode aside, weird time traveling they hope you’re not noticing. Hydrovolcanism while real wouldn’t work in an open chasm like that. I guess the lazy magic excuse works
The Dwarf section really is the best part. They at least are having fun. Durin got a new table for his wife and everything. Your show is a failure if the audience identifies with the villain more than the “heroes” I use that term in the loosest sense possible.

Amazon did the same thing with Wheel of Time.  I slogged through the first season.  I doubt I will watch the rest of it.

Hollywood writers seem to think they can be Tolkien but fail. It’s a a bad fanfiction based on something they don’t even have the rights to but think they can anyway.
They’ll say things that come off fantasy-ish to a normal viewer but to the rest of us the character seems a bit stunted? Episode 5 pretty much cements galadriel knows she’s evil like a rabid dog chasing a car. And despite that the Harfoots are worse than orcs. Which makes it seem like Sauron is the one protecting the demonic critters personally.
@DemonGoddesshit the nail on the head. Durin and company are unironically the best part of the show.  The sole flickering light of it even.

I’ll admit, I haven’t yet read the Silmarillion, but how the fuck can you fuck up a legendarium with such abundant source material?!! Like, Tolkien quite literally left us the equivalent of a guidebook…

@BronxWenchI mean I take comfort in the fact that it will be used by future generations on how not to create an adaptation. Going forward, any author contacted by hollywood for an adaptation of their works must be on set at all times and in the writing room no exceptions. With veto power in their  contract no trust whatsoever. When I said I wouldn’t let Hollywood within a light year of my characters. This is the definitive example of what I meant.
