I'm starting off this year's topic with a bit of a rant. As you all know, one of the things we're in the process of doing is age verification of every registered user. This is important to the health and well being of the site. This site is for users aged 18 years or OLDER. It's ALWAYS been an adult only site. Having said all that, I am utterly APPALLED at how many old minors we've found and processed since September 2008. 5695 users since then that have been deleted for being underage at time of registration, more often than not never active as adults. This does not account for duplication of accounts by these underage users, nor does it account for where i've modified these accounts where the user was over 18 and posted data. The account duplication is an issue which honestly, I expected to be pretty bad, due to when we had the huge crash, and accounts were not yet restored, so the users made new ones. To date, 4733 accounts have been deleted after merging the data in the duplicates, or just deleting the duplicates where there was no data. I have, to date, due to underage deletions, account merges, plagiarism deletions, bad emails, and spam registrations deleted a total of 13184 accounts. 8030 of those accounts deleted were due to age inadequacies. SIXTY PERCENT!!!! 43% is of the old minor variety What KILLS me is that this staff (there are 11 of us total, including admin users) is catching all this crap that should've been caught when there were 30+ staff members. There's no justification that I can see, for the ineptitude for years. NONE.

Well, if it's insisting on a valid url, put in your profile link. That'll satisfy the code and make it so your url isn't displaying anything you don't want. In the meantime, I'll ask the coder if this is because of the old profile stuff

Easy fix, actually. Logout, then back in, being sure to use the login boxes located at the upper right corner of your browser window. The center boxes currently ONLY work for activation and registration.

Nope, you're activated. The issue is more likely that the password is not being entered in correctly, or corrupted cookies. In any case, I sent an email to you, so you know what you need to do to login, exactly.

If you logged in using the center boxes, you need to logout, then back in, using the boxes located at the upper right corner of your browser window. Then, you should be able to click "My Control Panel" and access all story functions.

If you're adding straight text as an upload WITHOUT html format tags, you will have wallotext issues. It's easy enough to c/p in to the text box and then use the rte to add formatting such as bold, center, italic and the like. If you use Word or Open/Libre Office, click "paste from word" and copy/paste the text from your document in to the box. The formatting is retained.

I'm going to add that when such instances occur, we EXPECT and encourage our users to report. We had too many years where former staff not only allowed this behavior, but also indulged in it. To the point of if the user being abused didn't just shut up and take it, THEY were banned, not the abusers. There is a damn good reason that we do not allow nor tolerate flaming here, regardless of whether or not a user feels entitled to vent his or her spleen on others because of some personal issue which makes him or her feel entitled to abuse others for no apparent reason. In such for instances, so that we, the staff, can investigate and take appropriate action where needed, the reviews MUST be left. That is so that staff can determine whether or not there has been a rule violation. Once that's determined, then I go in and remove the reviews, not the user. Having said all that, this has been talked to death, the matter has been resolved. Topic is closed.

If that's not working, try Unicode. Btw, when I did that, then I get the oddball symbols instead of your punctuation. So be sure to double check that. I checked the db records, and there is nothing odd within the records themselves.

It's not just that. Reviews are fine, but flaming is not. Causing flame wars is not. All of which is what was happening. Should you choose to leave constructive criticism as opposed to rants and flames, I'm quite sure the authors would appreciate it.
