hehe thanks, I've been an LotR fan for YEARS and years. Started reading the books when I was around seven or eight.

I use this particular name (without the numbers) for almost all my gaming. Have been for YEARS. As to how I got the name, well.... picture an 8 1/2 month pregnant, EXTREMELY hormonal person (me at the time) and a smart ass twelve year old (my oldest boy). Dunno exactly where or why he came up with it, but...long story short, I was ranting about something (don't even remember), and HE started it. All his fault. In any case, he made me laugh, and I've been DemonGoddess ever since

like I said, not a genius, just a geek those would be primary, with the other standard subcategories, followed by pairings categories. so, there would be an AU section for each primary category. There are also multi age stories (which would also span the books), so I'm thinking there should be something to allow for that as well ANYWAY. Something I've noticed looking through the LotR book section here, is that there are fics that actually belong in the movie section. As we all know, there was a great deal of deviation from book to movie. Combination of characters, elimination of character, twisting of and addition of events (like the Battle of Helm's Deep, no elves in that battle but for Legolas), skipping of entire segments (Tom Bombadil and the Barrowwights come to mind there). I ramble though...it'll be nice to be able to eventually have all that sorted out where it actually belongs as well.

Got to thinking about it, LotR and its universe is unique. There are so many different ways to categorize the whole thing. What I was thinking is of course maintaining where it shows Books and Movies, but in the books section, have a few ways of going about it. For example, could set it up by AGE for books, or by book/book series. Age setup would look something like this pre-trees/trees First Age Second Age Third Age Fourth Age and later Book setup would be something like this Silmarillion History of Middle Earth series The Hobbit Lord of the Rings Trilogy In other words, stories that belong to those specific times/ages or book series would go under those subcats as they are constructed. Bear in mind this is for in the future, you won't be seeing this for a while.

Yeah, two new films would definitely be a boon to the fandom.

I'll be glad to get done with my projects so I can get back to my reading. As I'm going through that archive, if I find anything interesting for us in it, I'll put it up here....

I looked up Kingdom Hearts (haven't played it, so had to), and it's a combination Squaresoft/Disney game, with some characters from the Disney universe as well. So, technically, I think it ought to stay where it is, as it's not one or the other. As to its getting its own archive, I don't see that happening in the near future.

Bet you guys are sick of seeing this aren't ya? Anyway.... I play a few of these games, but haven't read any of the fics associated with 'em. So, if you could, list me the most common pairings, by pairing type, and game. I appreciate all the help.

The changes are some months away (not too many, but enough), but the thing is that in the meantime, I can at least have this part set up so we have a template to work from. Makes life much simpler when it comes to the work end of it.

Well, have a few forums I'm supposed to upgrade for some friends of mine. Did one between Friday and Saturday. It was a NIGHTMARE. Anyone who has a phpBB2 and is upgrading to phpBB3, be aware that the transition if you have any kind of posting data is TWITCHY at best. Altogether, took somewhat over NINE hours to transfer, convert, then re-transfer the database from one version to the other. It gets better. After waiting YEARS for this rewrite from php3 to 4, I'm finding depending on the host, it tends to run a bit slower. A host which has php5 (like mine) as its default runs phpBB3 slower than I like. I've done SOME tweaking of my own server environment to speed things up, but there's only so much I can do as an end user. Am pounding my head on my desk in anticipation of the other three I've gotta get to.
