It's not possible for the end user to move stories around from subdomain (zone) to subdomain. Should the user accidentally upload to the wrong zone, there's a couple ways this can be handled. First option - this would apply IF no rates or reviews have been made to the story Be sure to navigate to the correct subdomain (using the tab menu from the portal, or the jump menu from the Author Panel), then upload the story to its proper home. Then, delete it from where it doesn't belong. This is by far the quickest and easiest option. Second option - this would apply if rates and reviews have been added to the story and you really don't want to lose them Re upload the story to the correct subdomain (zone). Contact us in one the following ways so that the rates and reviews can be merged from the misplaced story to where it has been re uploaded to: email to admin@adult-fanfiction.org, subject - Story Merge. Provide links to the old story, and then the newly uploaded one, so I know where to go to merge from one story to the other POST your request in the Misplaced Stories forum, detailing out the problem as indicated for mail requests. Once we've been contacted to merge the misplaced story's rating and review data, you'll either recieve response via return mail, or you'll notice that the topic posted has been closed. Once a topic in that series of forums is closed, that means I've finished up the request. Once the story data has been merged from misplaced to new upload, the old story will be deleted. Please note, though, that the second option can take a while to complete, so you'll need to be patient.

You mean role playing? If so, that category needs to go away. The archive isn't used for that. Just to publish your stories. yeesh.
-
The first was an "un" story, the second was definitely misfiled. Since the beta category is going away archive wide, I went ahead and deleted both of them.
-
These have all been moved to the warehouse category.
-
Since the challenge/request categories throughout the archive will be deleted starting Friday, I went ahead and deleted the story.
-
I've moved all of 'em to this temporary subcategory for storage before move. This at least gets them OUT of the categories they do not belong in.

Is There A Place To Report A Misplaced Story?
DemonGoddess replied to Helluin's topic in Misplaced stories moved
I've actually moved three of that user's four stories in FFX from there to FFVIII Crossovers. -
Misplaced Inuyasha Fic
DemonGoddess replied to TamperedImagination's topic in Misplaced stories moved
I moved these to my warehouse subcategory, until I can get them moved to the proper subdomain. Alternately, you could always reupload them to the InuYasha archive, and then delete these. -
This will eventually be on all the subdomains, where fics that are uploaded to the wrong subdomain will be "warehoused" in this subcategory until we get to moving them to their proper location.

Could any of you tell me what exactly is the purpose of this particular category?
-
Was actually thinking about the top categories being the major publishers Something like this: Marvel DC Image Valiant Other Publishers
-
Finished the books, historical, and buffy subdomains. Finished up cartoon zone. Avatar and Teen Titan are now top categories. Thanks to xax, I have a much easier way to move stuff around now. (meaning stories to new sub sub categories)
-
Considering the sheer volume of data overall, not to mention the maintenance we'll be doing quarterly after the cleanup....(meaning, new categories requested and then added, with no stories will be killed), yes, having something ready to upload, or already THERE, will certainly be helpful.
-
Couple things... Have started on the left side menu from the main entry index (i.e. books, etc). Am currently working in the books archive. Also, will be adding "Round Robins" as a second level to all top level categories. This is where you'd put stories where you've left the option of others to add chapters besides yourself.

Am actually starting the category reordering now
DemonGoddess replied to DemonGoddess's topic in General
Basically that's what I was asking about. Thanks again for your input . I know that any one who plays in the book verse, KNOWS that the ages reference the books, not the movies. The movies deal with the trilogy, which is all TA stuff anyway. I agree, multi age would be a necessity, as not only do many authors use Glorfindel across the ages, they also use Elrond and Erestor that way, and the twins. That's just off the top of my head from scanning. -
They're not sorted yet because I would bet that enough people don't know how to move them on their own, that they've just left them for now. I have since put up a FAQ file to tell users how exactly to move their stories within a sub domain. As to sorting the individual stories out on THIS end (meaning that one of the techs do it). That's actually part of what we're looking to do with the overall cleanup project. However, given that there are 100,000 stories across all the sub domains, the more that people do it on their own, the easier it will be on us, and any one else who volunteers to find these things for us to move.

The other place you may want to look is under the "general" category, "het" category. If I'm remembering the same story, I believe it was orignally in the "het with yaoi/yuri in same fic" category. If so, it'd be in het now. That's where I merged that category to, as at this point, I'm not going through things story by story to be sure of proper placement. That's coming, but we're not at that stage yet.

I tried several different ways of searching the Bleach archive. The problem I encountered was that it is likely this story doesn't mention certain things in the description which would help the search engine to find it.
-
Not yet, but there will be very shortly. Haven't had time to get to it yet, as I've been working several 10 hour days ugh. Quickly, on how to.... When you go edit the story, it will default display to the category it's already in. In order to bring up the sub sub category menu, you have to RESELECT from the top down. i.e. you'd select FMA, then Yaoi, then the pair. If you don't reselect, it won't let you edit the category. Mind you, this only applies within a subdomain. For example, it will NOT work to move them from subdomain to another. That actually is something that has no tool, yet. Being worked on, but it's not done.
-
FWIW, the original plan was going to be to split in the manner I've already done, but not at the top levels. The problem we encountered with that is that the current software ONLY supports three levels of categories. Category, sub category, sub sub category. Again this has to do with the language that this was written in quite a few years ago. There are actually instances of php v 2 and mysql v 3 code and queries. The program is THAT old. Needless to say, with the servers having php 4.x and mysql 4.x, there are incompatibilities. We find them, then we squish 'em. manta2g is in the process of actually rewriting everything, with help from xax (particularly with queries, he's super with queries), I help with other stuff and a bit of that as well. We each have our strengths working within a database program and framework to construct something like this, and the good thing is is that they complement each other. This is still some months away though, so we work with what we have.

The simple response to this is to write your congress reps and senators OBJECTING to this particular law. I don't know what I'm going to do about my stuff yet, exactly; I do hope that because I upload to my own server first, that that affords me some protection.

Links to stories which fall in the following type categories-- looking/searching for a fic challenges/requests RP requests "coming soon"/preview requests for plot bunnies Things of that nature. Post the links, they'll GO AWAY Oh yeah, when I close a topic, it's because the story is gone. This is simply a visual reference for me to be able to quickly skim and see where I need to be.

Poeople Looking For Stories In The Fiction Section.
DemonGoddess replied to greenwizard's topic in UnStories Addressed
Okay, those listed above are ALL deleted. Please, in the future, when you come across one or more of the above stories, start a new TOPIC in the "un" stories forum. I don't really care how many links you put in it, but if you, for example, find 5 stories in one day and want to report them so they can be removed, start your topic, add the links. Then, say, a day or two later you find more? Start a new topic. It'll make it easier on me, and I would definitely appreciate it. -
Throughout the archive, you'll find within the story listings a story that has no author. Those need to be found, and then deleted. So, as you run across stories like that, please post up a link to them so they can be deleted.
