Yes, the government up here has also decided to not use the AstraZeneca vaccine for the under 50 crowd, because of those blood clot cases. But as far as I know they’re pretty much on schedule with the vaccine plans, so my parents (mum has underlying conditions, and dad’s turning 69 this year) should be up this month, and then hopefully I’ll be getting mine near the end of the month, start of May. And we’ve got decent control of the pandemic up here as well, although we had a fourth wave pick up just around Christmas, which is thankfully back under control.
Let’s hope you guys stay on track with keeping Covid under control (knock on wood) and that you’ll get the jab soon. And I can only imagine how much stress it lifts for you that your mum is getting her jabs, and therefore getting some level of protection

Well being mum’s fulltime carer meant I could have had mine now, but there’s been a hiccup in the system.  AstraZeneca – the one she got, and by far the most common one we have here – has now been not recommended for those under 50 because of an extremely unlikely chance of getting blood clots.  So that’s kind of derailed things a bit, which means I’m not sure when I’ll be getting mine now.  Likely depends on when we can get a shed load of Pfizer shots, and when.  But as I said, Covid is totally under control here (touch wood!) so it’s not like things are desperate.  As soon as I’m eligible, I’ll be getting mine.

That’s awesome. Congrats to mum for getting her first jab. Hope you don’t have to wait very long for yours, Melrick.

lol I read about the spiders.  I’m not bothered by spiders, so that doesn’t worry me.  Well, as long as the deadly ones stay outside.
Today was a day of sunshine!  Actually sunshine!  Man that feels good.  Some areas got 1 metre of rain in a 7 day period, which is about 3.3 feet.

And my friends in NSW posted on FB yesterday, that there’s now also a plague of spiders running away from the flooding…  So, good luck with that, Melrick!

Ah yes, the plague of mice, I forgot about them. lol  Not the first time we’ve had massive plagues of mice (check out youtube for older videos if you like lol) and this won’t be the last.  It seems to be something that happens every few years, with the right conditions.  A locust plague is probably next, and then the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse can finally show up.

I think I might stop grumbling about the weather here for a bit…   Well, unless it snows in April, in which case I reserve the right to grumble without restraint.
But mice… :shudders:  I get maybe a dozen at the lake house every winter, and I think that’s awful. What you’re getting is apocalyptic!

I’m refusing to read about the Plague of Mice, sorry. I don’t like mice in big quantities… one mouse, two mouse, that’s fine… more than that, and I start to worry about what they’re up to.

For me, it’s definitely the second.  Semicolon’s are much more of a pause than a comma is.  You’re describing a list of things that are directly related to each other, so they belong in the same list.  Semicolon’s – basically just a step up from a full stop - essentially break it up into several, less related items.  Besides, if you’re saying something like “This is my daughter, Evie”, you should always put a comma after the word daughter.  The comma has become unpopular in recent years, for some baffling reason, but comma’s make sentences more readable, not less readable, if done right.  Nothing infuriates me more than a lack of comma’s!

The worst thing is a colon in the wrong place. Such as in your lunch.
