The improved archive search is much more reliable as people can search/filter by content tags on their own meaning more people actually find the content they are looking for.That could be part of it. The improvement in people’s ability to find what they’re looking for might have been to the benefit of a potential Google search. They like more organized content for people and for their options. But it’s definitely in part people just using the site. Also could just be people excited about the new version of the site, playing around with it.

Is there a place to see how much traffic has increased for your story? I did notice that one of my story seems to have a large number of readers but I can’t remember what it used to be. It was a pretty popular story. -

I’ve done a rough chapter 4 on mine and into an even rougher chapter 5. These things end up longer than expected sometimes!

Depends on the story. My very first two long form fics didn’t have happily ever after, but they were somewhat happy.

My memory is somewhat hazy, but there’s absolutely collaborative stories on here. InBrightestDay and I have a non-sex story up we jointly wrote with some of his pre-existing OCs (and some new collaboration specific ones), but that was all posted in one go. There’s functionality though for what they called Round Robin stories, where someone started it and then someone else puts in another chapter and so on. I’ve mostly seen it used on the holiday anthologies they do, with everyone having a different chapter for the theme, but it’s absolutely there for ongoing story collabs too.
Probably one that would do best if the fandom resurgence happens and it suddenly gets a lot busier over there
I can’t imagine those stories don’t run into issues sometimes whether it’s because one writer favours a specific ship that another is really turned off by, or just not having strict enough pre-agreed content guidelines so someone’s slipping in scat or whatever.

And the worst thing is when someone adds a chapter that’s just straight plagiarized. When I was going through my reviews the other day, deleting all the spammed bot links, I saw a negative review from someone for apparently stealing another story – the reviewer didn’t seem to care mine had been posted 10 years before the ‘stolen’ one – And I remembered that in in that case somoene had changed the names from my original and then pasted in as a chapter in an ongoing collab “choose your own adventure” on another site. That kind of thing makes it hard for me to trust folks in fanfic sometimes
I have an idea that I’ve been playing with. One is a Buffy crossover and the other is sorta similar to the Gehanna story that’s already up on the site. Seems like there was collaboration on that story. But mine has a slightly different twist.

Yeah, I totally get the concern around that. Not in the context of a fanfic but in another writing collaboration, I wrote something for someone and they basically took bits and pieces from what I wrote and used it to say something different that wasn’t my original intention.
So there’s definitely reason to be concerned. I can see why being clear on what is and isn’t allowed when it comes to preferences. I’ve seen a few different fics on here from people who seem to be similar to what I write. In fact, I’ve been inspired by some other people’s writing to write my own version of the idea.
Maybe if there was some kind of approval process for collaborations where whoever creates the story has approval over what chapters do and don’t get posted.

Ooh! Willow finds an online D&D group and plays a goblin? Called Glur- ahem. No, I mean I assume group snuggling. I’m thinking I’ll check it out once I’m doing working the challenge, mostly so I don’t think “Shit! I wish I’d thought of that!” or worse end up inadvertantly ripping it off.

Totally get that. I definitely want to get back to writing in the Buffy fandom at some point but I’ve got a bunch of ideas in other fandoms that I gotta get out of my head.
I’m guessing there’ll be a resurgence of interest in the Buffy fandom if/when the sequel series comes out.
Maybe there could be a collaboration on ideas. Since I’ve never really done this in fanfic before. Someone else or I write the first chapter and open it up to additional chapters by other writers. So we can work collaboratively on a story. Kinda depends on what people are into though. -

That all babbled, if you’re a Buffy fan and like the sound of the idea, you could probably take the challenge and do a better and quicker job than me. It looks like the subdomain’s been a bit quiet of late, so I am sure any new contributions would be good ones. Although when the new series happens it’ll hopefully get busier. I haven’t really been to check it out myself for years, I only just got back into fanfiction mindsets recently.
Well I would argue that I did that already. My Buffy story called Scooby Gang Time includes a chapter called “Willow Group”. You can guess what it means given that it aligns with your idea. I’ve got a couple ideas for the Buffy subdomain but very busy in other subdomains at the moment. Maybe when the new version of the archive goes live, I might add some. Although I don’t want to overwhelm my readers.

I’m curious what the difference is between the two. I’ve been playing with a story idea and the idea of proxy play has come up.
However, I wonder at one point does it end up becoming cuckolding?
Here’s the general idea, Mary and Sarah have unresolved sexual tension between each other and while not being willing to talk about it or get it on with each other, they will sometimes sleep with each other’s male exes. Sometimes Mary is there when Sarah is getting it on with a guy and other times Sarah is there when Mary is getting it on with a guy. Or one of them mentions it to the other later.
As the subtext between Mary and Sarah becomes text, is there a point at which it becomes cuckolding? Do Mary and Sarah have to have actually slept together before the proxy play becomes cuckolding?

Totally get that although I haven’t seen much of it. Most of the YouTube videos I watch aren’t using AI.

At the moment, I’m mostly using AI for stories that I’m almost certainly not going to write. I have like 50 story ideas that I came up with before AI was a thing that I’m slowly working my way through using my brain.
What I’m using it for is fun stuff. For example, there’s a couple of soap opera characters that I’d love to be an actual couple but it’s unlikely to actually be a thing. AFF actually has a couple stories from that soap opera on the site but not with any of the characters that I’m thinking of. So AI helps me have fun with the idea. There’s almost no chance I will ever write them myself or put it out there into the world. That way the idea isn’t nagging me to write it instead of what I’m currently writing.

I’m curious what you mean by general increase. Hundreds of new views? Thousands? How much is lots of new registrations?
If you can’t say, that’s fine but you’ve got me curious.
