I’m not upset at you at all! Sorry if it seemed that way, but it was one of those things last year that was endlessly frustrating. In the scheme of things, it wasn’t a big deal although we had a few people who wanted to make it more than it was. Quite frankly, I was a LOT more worried about the big players—Equifax, banks, phone companies—because those guys DO have data on me. AFF is not in possession of any information that will lead back to me without some effort, and even then, I’m not all that worried about people knowing where I play and read. I’m too damned old to care what they think about me.  

No you’re not.  I’ve given you a lot of opportunities to make jokes at my expense or insult me, and you haven’t done so.  As for accidental awkwardness, I do that all the time.

I’m sorry.  I didn’t mean to annoy you, BronxWench.  I was just trying to make a guess based on my own personal experience.  As it happens, I’m honestly not even sure why you’d need an account just for reading (unless you’re really dedicated to reviewing stories that don’t allow anonymous reviews).  Again, sorry if I bothered you.

Speaking as someone who has written incest, rape, bestiality, torture, gore, snuff, mpreg and, earning me forever a place in the lake of fire, furry anthro, I totally support this statement. I tend to go for the jokes when they pop up, but I am sorry if I grossed you out too much. Maybe the reason I’m convinced there’s no nasty people on the forum is that I am the nasty person.

I’m mostly grumbly because things tend to get magnified simply because we’re an adult-oriented site. Hacking Target and getting someone’s credit card information seems to pale in comparison to finding out their email address is linked to AFF somehow.  I’ll also say that the majority by far of the “Oh, gods, delete my account now, man!” emails I got were from readers only, not writers.

Okay, I know that was a joke, but seriously, while I find incest a powerful fantasy and story element, both on a physical and emotional level, that’s in the abstract.  Thinking about that with my actual family members is seriously gross.  Some fantasies really only work when detached from any personal experience.

I think it may have to do with the way other people look at you afterward.  Personal data mined from Equifax?  You’re a victim of malicious hackers and you have everyone’s sympathy.  Family and personal acquaintances find out you wrote stories featuring incest or rape?  Suddenly the fact that your data was hacked matters way less than the stuff you wrote.
Again, I think the worry is less about the stuff you read and more about the stuff you write.  Explaining The Woman in the Statue to my parents would be awkward, but if they found out I wrote Little Brother’s Lesson over on Literotica, I guarantee you there would be a very painful conversation about why I wrote a romantic incest story.
I...suppose I could leave, delete my accounts here and on Lit and delete the stories from my computer.  The conflict there is that I am actually enjoying writing WitS and happy about the fact that other people are apparently enjoying reading it.  In addition to that, everyone here has been really nice to me, and I can’t accurately communicate how much that means to me.

But yeah, summaries. Who needs em? From now on I’m just going to load the summary field with top secret mind control words that force everyone who’d enjoy the story to read it and review. Those words exist! I’m sure of it! We just gotta make them harry potter writers tell us what they are!

Actually I think you should worry less about lack of progress now and instead feel proud about the remarkable many good stories you have finished so far this year. You have delivered lots of quality stuff and it is given that you cannot keep that pace forever. Keep looking for inspiration and things will start to fit together again.

I would love chatting about story ideas if it helps your story muse going again, but it will probably need to be a bit later. Currently the family is packing for the two week trip and I will have limited internet and less private space than normal for a while.
