Most of it was rewriting, expanding a bit on old.  Though there’s some additions too.  Now, I’m into virgin material (at least for a while), it’s technically filling in what had been a four-year gap in the character’s development, which is the underlying theme to the episodic serial.
Ironically enough, now outlining and trying to figure out what I want for this next episode.

76k in only a month is damned good, even if that’s on rewriting.  [jealous sigh.]

Mine’s likely jealous by now too.  Haven’t worked on it since March.  Instead, been focusing on Jefferey… up around 76k since start of April on that story, so that’s definitely good.

My ‘Potter Story’ was a ‘antidote’ to very bad m/m Potter fanfics featuring questionable erotic interests for Harry, combined with a well written Ron unintended time-travel story.  It’s also jealous that I haven’t spent any serious time working on it lately.

For my potter story, it’s not an outline, but a spreadsheet.  Initially wrote that ages ago, but it was a godsend when I returned to working on it a decade and a half after starting.  Basically, each column’s a person (or group), each row is a day, and I’ve got one/two of the major things that person (or group) is doing in the cell.  Not every cell’s full, simply the main points.

Lincoln Way was a “pantser” from Jump Street.  Remember that it started out as a “anti-spank-o-wank” one-shot where questions got asked.

To me, my process is mixed… sometimes it’s outlines, but other times, it’s going by the seat of your pants (ie, a “pantser”).

I’m not sure what the “pantser way” is.  As for Andres Augustin Floyd, he fell “out of the ether” as a teenaged rebel looking for a cause and career change between a Bananarama song and a Celso Machado instrumental piece.  Outlines are your friend.

Aw, I take it you’re trying to abandon the pantser way?

Nothing wrong with splitting up an overstuffed chapter, especially if there’s an obvious place to split it.

Yes, I’ve had this experience quite a bit. Though more for my series of one shots. I was just going through the upcoming chapters of Scooby Gang Time and one chapter has 16 pages, whereas another one has 28 pages. Many times it goes back and forth like that between chapters.

I keep feeling like I should add more to the shorter chapters.

Oh, the potter fanfic’s doing anything but trimming… it’s 1.2M words and counting … though I *am* breaking up the 100k chapter of the previous draft.. though that chapter’s likely going to span a million words across over a hundred chapters by the time I’m finished.  (Not totally sure, haven’t fully plotted/planned out that split.
Jefferey’s a more recent creation, so less work, fewer problems to fix.  Still, some episodes are a bit big, and were better suited to split & padding in.  Also adding in more episodes & content as I go as the first pass really underdeveloped it.  (At least for its first act.)

In my case, as will become ‘visible’ once Chapters 36 and 37 get posted, it’s a matter of things not ‘shrinking,’ combined with a self-imposed goal of keeping individual chapters under 20,000 words.
In Chapter 36 now, the ‘kids’ are waking up the morning after their wedding reception concert and ‘talking out issues.’  Chapter 37 is where other family members come over to their house, with only some of those family members being expected or invited, to ‘talk out’ more family issues.  And this extended family does have its issues.

Yep, happens all the time when rewriting.  My Alaska Trekkers story went from 15 to 47.  My potter fanfic… I’m running around 4x of the early-early draft, 45x the previous one.  Now that I’m revising the Jefferey story, same thing though not to that extreme!  Usually it’s because I’m adding in a bit more detail, breaking up walls of text/dialogue.  For the potter fanfic, it’s whole new sub-plot-threads and new characters.

I had one ages ago coming in impacted, only one.  Dentist did it as a normal tooth pull (needed a triple shot of novocaine IIRC)
