Author’s notes, Chapter 1 I originally came up with the idea for this story when I was “bored,” and searched a couple of fanfiction sites to see what kind of “relationships” fanfiction authors were putting Harry in. Since in canon, Harry’s best friend is Ron Weasley, I thought there would be a fair number of those. Actually, “Harry/Ron” stories are few and far between. I couldn’t make sense of that at all. Even more “nonsensical,” most of the “M/M” Harry Potter stories out there had Harry “getting it on” with Snape, both male Malfoys, Sirius Black, and various incarnations of Voldemort! “Converting” the situation to “het” terms, I could not envision myself having a sexual relationship with the woman who murdered my parents, my father’s ex-girlfriend, female cohorts of the woman who murdered my parents, or a beloved surrogate mother. I would much sooner have sex with my closest female friend my age. Secondly, “MPREG” is one of the blatantly most stupid ideas I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen some rather stupid things over the years. Thus, the first Soul Bond is Harry/Ron. While both of them will father children, it won’t be with each other. The “Soul Bond” is a “convenient” way to reduce 50k plus of serious relationship building down to only two words. I will make every effort to counter that “laziness” with having the characters explore and improve their relationships. Ron is not a “Sue/Stu,” however he is more than slightly powerful. Harry will still be more “powerful,” and this won’t bother Ron one bit. You will notice that some of the canon villains have been “dealt with.” One or two should be conspicuous by their absence, and at least one that appears to have been dealt with is not nearly as far out of the picture as you might think. Dumbledore and Snape will be more or less “canon,” which means that both are “heroes,” though Dumbledore will be tempted to be somewhat manipulative, and Snape, while being more “friendly” with “Harry and Co.” than in canon will not be “nice.” Dumbledore will also be a “realist,” and will change his methods, at least to the point where Harry and Ron can trust him somewhat. Snape will also “appear” far “nicer” than in canon. Without the temptation of getting “total revenge” on the one person he hated more than James Potter and Voldemort combined, and “extra” time to be “forced” to “forgive” Remus, he will actually be able to be civil in the presence of the werewolf, and eventually forgive Sirius, This “change of displayed heart” will complicate Snape’s ability to resume spying successfully should he need to do so. He might actually retire from the “spying” business. If he remains, his “friendlier and fairer” teaching manner will need to be explained. He may or may not be successful in doing this. This story is told “first-person” by Ron Weasley himself. When I edit this chapter, I will try to “convert” one or two scenes over to proper “flashback” from being described by Ron. Also, since this is “first-person-imperfect,” you will only ever see or know what Ron does at the time. If anything “defies explanation,” you will only have “explained” what Ron has explained to him.

I meant “soft’ in a purely “biomechanical” manner, not emotionally. The exact nature of their encounter would tend to turn most people off, no matter the physical attraction. Besides, he’d be a horrible date for her. She could never take him to a bar, because beer goes right through him! Okay, ducking and running now...

Not the protagonist, the “character” the protagonist encounters. However, if the “character” wasn’t a murderous thug among other things, he will never get “soft” for the protagonist, and she did say she thought the character attractive before the actual nature of their encounter became clear..

I just read the linked page. To my advantage, the protagonists are only about four years younger than me. On the not-so-good side, in their version of ’real life,’ my protagonists are all pushing 50, hard. I don’t remember all the ‘slang’ from then, and I didn’t use it then. The site is a good one, though, and I’ll keep reading through it. The entire school-age ‘ensemble’ will be introduced by Chapter 17, and ‘revealed’ in Chapter 18.

Thanks again for your kind words. When I was growing up, I actually knew a pair of brothers involved in such a relationship, though not well. As for the facial expression and voice tone, that is part of what I need to work on, for all of the characters. I have started to do this, but I do need o work much harder on that for this story.

Arian-Sinclair wrote a review to Chapter 1. Arian-Sinclair, I had not seen the term “demisexual” before I read your review. Yet, at least as far as homosexual attraction goes, it fits both of the Dvorak boys, particularly Danny. Out of the ten school-age protagonists, only ONE is actually a “full bisexual.” However, out of those same ten, only two will have exclusively heterosexual encounters. Those two will only have one partner each, and they are NOT partnered with each other. I will need to “improve” the descriptions of Danny’s tone of voice and inflections. While he is not quite as expressive of emotions as Michael, he does express as well as feel the full range of emotions, whether in private conversation or otherwise. The comparison that keeps coming to mind for me would be to compare Danny to Robert De Niro and Michael with Joe Pesci Thanks.

In canon, Petunia and Lily were the only two sisters. What if they were only the youngest two? Instead of Aunt Petunia, he goes to live with his Aunt Hyacinth Bucket which she pronounces ‘Bouquet,’ thank you very much. Rules: All Waltons become Evanses. “Daddy” is still senile and widdowed, which is why Harry couldn’t stay with him. All of Harry’s aunts and uncles will appear in the story, including Petunia and Vernon. Sheridan Bucket is born in July of 1980, and is a muggle-born wizard who will attend Hogwarts with Harry. He and Harry will not be spoiled or abused. They will get along with each other at least as well as normal siblings. They will get far more guidance from Richard Bucket than from Hyacinth. Hyacinth likes magic and loathes Petunia, despite Petunia’s being married to a Managing Director of a largish company as in canon. Hyacinth knows Snape, and loathes him ‘now’ even more than Petunia. She was previously indifferent to him, and accepts that Snape’s feelings for Lily were genuine. Harry grows up knowing some things about the Wizarding World, but not others. He knows his birth parents were murdered by magical terrorists, but not that he’s the “Boy Who Lived,” as the biggest example. Richard actually likes gardening with Harry and Sheridan, but only to take a break from Hyacinth for a while, and to show the “Bitch and Bastard Dursleys” what a garden should look like. Hyacinth should, but doesn’t have to maintain “physical intimacy” with Richard, just to give him a break. Any rating is good, but no crack romantic or erotic pairings, such as Harry/any Death Eater, bigot, or adult. Non-crack but non-canon pairings, including Harry/Sheridan or Harry/Sheridan/Ron, or Hermione/Ginny, etc are fine. Can anyone out there help Harry in “Keeping Up Appearances?”

I’ve done some editing and revising on Chapters 14 and 15, including adding short driving lessons, and moving a day from Chapter 14 to 15.
