Hurricane passing through, just a bit of rain right now.

Waterproof lining. Desiderius price is just fine if a bit wet.

Sounds like it’s passed, the wind’s calmed back down. That’d be the biggest concern for me, trees falling, taking out power/internet. (With a chance to the house, of course)

I finally made a (small) bit of progress on Jefferey, so hopefully I’ve broken the logjam on it. Time will tell, as always.

I hate it when I get soda into my computer, this sucks.

Still assessing it, got most non-essentials stripped out, trying to bring it back bit by bit. If successful, great, if not, I’ll consider my options.
-
Phew! Dodged a bullet. After a disassembly/reassembly, it seems operational.

I have to see exactly where i want to take it, but my gut feeling is that Episode #15 will be on the shorter side. (Includes a small challenge prompted by @CloverReef )

@CloverReef I think it was more of the latter… as to which one, I’m not saying! I think the tags will give it away.
-
Gaah! I have to wait?! Waiting is a thing still?! I thought the internet eradicated that shit!
-
Well, #14 has to be released, and that’s most likely in two weeks. After that, episode #15 can be posted, I’m guessing three weeks, depends on how #16/#17 go. And #15 is indeed short. What I intended as an opening scene, I realized did justice to what I wanted to portray, anything else detracted, so it’ll be short.

I know some people dis on the daily writing habit, however, I’m finding it quite useful. In my case, this has become my most overall productive time of the day, squeezed in between when I wake up and when I have to punch into work. This morning, it was 1.2k, so not too shabby for a work day.
-
I like three day weekends, good chance to get some Jefferey episodes finished! I do have to be careful, some of these episodes are becoming a wee bit penis centric…
-
I love 9-day weekends, but they always seem to go by too fast.

I got about 1kwords today, but then ark survival….

Look at you Mr. Productive. That’s awesome. I think of gaming breaks as training coordination, map reading skills, and problem solving skills. Soooo it’s indirectly aiding your writing stuffs.
-
lol. No, it’s more of a distraction…. I’ll see if I can’t focus more on the writing for the next eight days. I do want to make progress on this mini-arc of Jefferey episodes.

I mean, sure, I expect Kent to be mad that I’m going to sprain his ankle. But he ought to count his blessings that I decided to not break his leg as I had originally planned on doing.

I meant “ice skating”, not “ice scatting” in my notes of ideas …. should I dare to think about what ice scatting would entail? Hmm… sounds dangerous. Suppose Frosty the snowman could be involved with this.

@Wilde_Guess Yep, it happens … it was funny enough to post

When the Ice Queen regrets having that King Prawn Bhuna and eight pints of spesh.

I must apologize, a deus ex slipped in. It’s mild though, so hopefully not too bad..

I want my money back! Third COVID shot so far, no super powers.

No, not yet.

Just rabbis…

Rabbis are more filling than anything I’d find in DC.

I work on a rewrite, suddenly, a new character forms, latches on, and won’t let go, demands to be included in the rest of the story.

I’m annoyed because it feels like the only thing visiting my “clean” version of my fanfic on FF.net are bots stealing it – I post, and a half dozen bots lift it inside a day or two; at least one a day after that. Feeling like I should simply abandon the clean version, and only pursue the explicit version on AO3. That’d make writing easier, but also jerks around anybody still reading the clean.
-
Honestly, if I thought it would do any good, I’d say to file daily complaints with FFN. Is it being reposted elsewhere? Perhaps you can file complaints with those sites as well.
-
A google search later, some of the ghost mirrors (mostly), thinking they’re redirects for … countries with more restrictive internet policies. Plus a (small) blurb on one hacked website.
But the aggravating part is simply that it drowns out the real readership numbers, because all I now see in the stats is bot after bot after bot slurping up 700k, no humans (about 300k of new material + 400k of the old yet-to-be-revised). Until now, I had been trying to maintain “explicit” vs “clean” versions, carefully marking up my story as I rewrite it (only way, TBH), close to a 3:1 word ratio; but if few to nobody is enjoying the clean, if they’re all enjoying the explicit, then it makes sense to not bother with the clean version given the extra hassle it takes.

I’m annoyed, graphics giving me issues on my computer. ☹️

Overall, this machine has been very stable, rock solid, to the point that I’d only have to reboot due to power outages (ie not on battery backup) or kernel/driver updates. That’s why it was odd to be in a position to have to reboot daily/hourly when I was used to 60/90 days. Fingers crossed the driver downgrade works, lets me defer pricey upgrades.
-
If your computer started acting up without you doing some other change to it first, I wouldn’t have my hopes raised too high. And if the problem stuck around on your main computer after a card swap, especially if the removed card worked on your other machine (you never said,) then I would be looking at something on the main system board.
If you did a software patch or driver update to the O/S recently, rolling that back will hopefully roll the problem away. Otherwise, hope for something “cheap and stupid,” like a memory module or different accessory card starting to go bad and impinging on system resources needed by the video card for the video to work correctly.
Good luck, whatever it turns out to be.
-
Luckily, it did start acting up after an update (which IIRC included video drivers). As the notes mentioned g-sync, and my issues had sync issues in them when piped through my KVM, my shrewd guess is that it was a bad driver (or something not properly configured). So, downgrading the drivers back to the old ones will likely fix it (at least for now).

I’m definitely into the “revision” portion of the story, ep 17 and 18 are ready for posting, so that’s why I went ahead and posted #14 earlier today.
-
I’m guessing that I’ll be posting episode six next weekend, but no promises. (This is to Jefferey.)

I’m now working on a second Christmas story, involves some of the material from the Halloween story that I did scrub.

It works better as a christmas story, with flashbacks, IMO.
-
OOooo. Nice.
-
Yesterday, a conversation with @CloverReef mentioned Christmas trains, and, well, I found I’m able to run with it, did like half of it last night.

I’ve just finished up the repair guy story, will post at least one chapter tomorrow, maybe both.

If I ever wonder where my high word count is coming from on my rewrite, take this example of a 71 word paragraph, now over 800+ words including a short sensual shower scene. Guess this is literary inflation at work?
-
In a good mood. About got through an entire episode this morning before work (light revision & some new content) from start to finish (around 7k worth). YES, woke up before my alarm went off, how could you tell?
