I reported it as well, for what it's worth! But maybe if they get a few, they might actually notice.

Probably for the best. And a wonderful comment. I'm rather fond of the refresh button as well. Especially for the CAPTCHA things. I had quetzacoatl once, only it had an 'n' on the end of it. Was very strange. Almost as odd as having "normal," and "squl"-something or other. Because really, what is a normal, squl-thingie?

Mmm. Usually there is one of the two words that is English! This one is hard. I know I spelled it right because it worked. So, I think "rafh" is a noun, and it sounds like wrath but is written like raft. Oh! I just thought of something. ReCaptcha just bit its tongue and is saying rash. "esungnt" must be ... um ... describing it, yeaahh. lol. Shit, I don't have any ideas. I admit it, I just wanted to post again.

Isn't the purpose of Recaptcha to prevent automated replies or something? The only thing capable of typing that one is an android or robot something, definitely not a human!

Was having a rant session with a friend one time, and didn't know quite what to tell her except that "Everybody has their share of issues."

...only my fingers got ahead of my brain and it came out: "Everybody has their share of idiots."

Called my bf "Mr. Man" one time - redundant, I know, but I was teasing him. So he tries to tease me back...and calls me "Mr. Woman." *facepalm* My sister has yet to let us live it down.

I will admit that my rushed typing of 'puzzled' leaves something to be desired, though.... Because 'puxzled' just doesn't quite make sense.

BronxWench reacted to Raymy in Sexist stories (not sexism IN stories) against females
I think that the AFF site probably has more than 50% females, maybe even up to 90%? (one of the admins could site a better figure) The irony is that we all seem to enjoy each other, mostly, but this phenomenon of sexist stories is still accurate. You'd think a mainly female gathering would demonstrate the "bitchy, antagonistic" side of us, but our interactions don't manifest that way. Just the fanfic. So I wonder if the characterizations from one story perpetuate the way others are written. I know that when I like the way a male character is portrayed in a story I've read, it influences the way I write him in my own story. I think we have to make a conscious effort to give the females a more realistic personality, drawn from our real life family, friends and coworkers while in keeping with canon, if possible. Hopefully, we can influence future stories with well-written females, even if they're side characters because we like to write Yaoi.

Bored_Straight, thanks! It's just been a crazy year altogether, but I'm on Day 8 and 20,001 words, so we'll see! I may pull it off yet, if I can keep up the 2500 words a day goal I set myself. I like a cushion...
botticelliangel, all I can say is that it's addictive. You get nothing for doing this except a messy freaking draft that's usually half done and full of holes, but it's a glorious mess. I'm still tidying last year's draft and it may, just may, be worth showing to a publisher. I've surprised myself.

Oh, of course! I completely agree that a child who was previously abused should never be spanked. My POV was derived from my experiences as a child and with my own children, who might consider having rules and curfews and things abuse, but who have been loved and cherished all their lives.

I'm going to put my 2 cents in here. Something that absolutely SLAYS me is I'll see (and this is on ANY SITE I've visited) absolute and utter hacks getting a ton of reviews. Why? Because it's done by the fanpoodling minions, that's why. Whereas I'll see a helluva story get nothing at all, for a long time, because the author either writes in an obscure fandom, or an old fandom. Yet, when they finally get noticed as they should, they will get some nice reviews.
Going back to the flame problem when one gives actual concrit:
Again, this is supposed to be a site for adults, not children. That means that as adults, we shouldn't stoop to sending people after someone who takes the time and makes a real effort to give you what you ask for. You don't want concrit, don't ask for it. Don't waste a reviewer's time that way.

Just as a quibble, and I'll apologize in advance for being in a quibbling state of mind, the "Adult" in our site's name does not mean that every story has to contain sex, graphic or otherwise, or violence. There are mature themes that don't necessary translate as sexual or violent. They're equally welcome here, and we even have a NoSex tag for those who can't live without it. We also allow original fiction as well as fan fiction, meaning I don't need to deal with publishing my work on multiple sites because I don't always write fan fiction.
We're not all here to write graphic content. Some of us just want the freedom to write our stories as they evolve, without worrying about scarring the psyches of 13 year old users, and without worrying about being plagiarized, flamed or otherwise abused. I began here as an author, and volunteered as a way to support a site that respects the dignity of authors.

It has not a DAMN thing to do with stubbornness. It has to do with ToS compliance. Which you would know if you read it. grumpy already knows what he has to do, as he finally responded to one of several emails sent to him regarding this.
As to jordinio, tech support is easy enough to reach. All HE needs to do is send an email explaining that he can't remember his password, etc, and I'll walk him through activation. That's simple enough.
Should you opt to continue not complying with the Terms of Service, which are actually straightforward, then you'll find that we "stubborn mods" have other means to stop you and grumpy from posting here at all.

    *Speak Out against cyber-bullying*
I would like to take this opportunity to write a message to everyone about cyber-bullying. In recent news, Amanda Todd, a beautiful British Columbia girl in Canada, committed suicide because she was the subject of heinous cyber-bullying. The question is: what did Amanda do except make a mistake when she was twelve years-old that brought her to the decision to end her life?
All she needed was one friend. Not a good friend, or a best friend, but just a friend. If she had somebody to lean on and get support from, she would still be with us today. What they say is true, though boys bully physically, the worst kind of bullying is verbally. What's even more worse than that is to be in the comfort of your own home and still be targeted.
What do the bullies gain from this? How can you actually wish death upon somebody? To be given life is the most wonderful damn thing in this whole WORLD and to wish somebody to take that way? Something that their parents strived so hard to achieve, to raise a beautiful and intelligent young woman, to pour their heart, soul, blood, tears into a person and to so easily wish death upon them?
What disgusts me the most is that these bullies have the audacity to go to her memorial page on Facebook and continue to harass the poor girl. Not to be rude, but she's dead now. Let her rest in peace. All the bullies are doing now is targeting her mother and father.
Do something productive, get an education, look for a job, bond with your family, fix broken bridges with friends but do not bully anybody. Bullying is what children, and even grown adults do to make themselves feel bigger than they really are. Bullying will not achieve anything in your life. Ever.
I also recall the case of the young girl who committed suicide because a grown woman pretended to be a boy and befriended this girl on MySpace. All because this girl slighted her daughter. I mean come on. Children I can understand, they don't understand the consequence of their action but a grown woman? Whose daughter is the age of the girl she drove to suicide?! What has this world come to? We're all of the same race, we all have hearts, souls, minds, so why would you have to do that? Talk to people, tell them how you feel, and if you don't like somebody then leave them the eff alone. Why does anybody have to resort to bullying?
I've been a target of bullying when I was younger, but back then the internet wasn't so prominent where I would be subject to cyber bullying (I'm dating myself. I was actually born in 1990). Why was I bullied? Because I was a teacher's pet, my mom came to parent-teacher interview nights, and I didn't want to break the rules. Little girls, especially those in middle school to high school, can be the most evil and conniving people ever. They band together in groups to hurt one person. Having several people back you up to break down a single person does not make you any better.
I'm a firm believer in karma and I hope it comes back around to the people who drove Amanda Todd to kill herself. I would've been that friend she needed if I had the opportunity to meet her. I would've gone to the movies with her, get our nails done together, hold her when she cried. All she needed was one damn friend and nobody could give that to her. Her final plea for help was posted on the internet but still nobody got the hint.
    So she ended her life.
I hope this serves as a lesson to those who partake in bullying. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution. End cyber-bullying so that your children, and your children's children don't have experience the horrors of it. Bullying does not make you cool and popularity only exists until you gradate high school. When it comes time for university/college/the work-force, there is no such thing as popularity and all those cool friends you had back in the day won't be there anymore.
If there's anything I learned is that family will always back you up. Maybe not the most immediate form of family but grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, they will always be there for you in some way shape or form. And friends? I have two best friends who can write a biography on me. That's it. I have close friends, good friends, and acquaintances… but only two girls in this whole world I could call my soul sisters.
Don't stand on the side-line and watch bullying happen. If you aren't part of the solution, you're very well part of the problem. If you can save a life – a beautiful sacred thing—you're an angel.
    Take a stand against bullying.

Fucked in the head, I except. Some sorta severe serotonin deficiency perhaps. Looks out into bright happy smiling hot sunny days in the world and sees desolation and a race bent on self destruction and the fucking up of the poor majority by the obscenly rich majority. Messed up loser scumfuck who oughta be exterminated. Get some kinda sick pleasure from trying to engender visceral reactions of disgust and revulsion in their audience, maybe even enjoy the flames. Exposed to horror stories at a young age and had 'em imprinted on the psyche. Watership Down's rabbits had it tough. No desire to hurt anybody else, but find writing helps feel better sometimes, whether gory splatterbang or just warm and fuzzy.
That's just me, of course. Only me. You with the pen and the hatchet quit getting all offended. I'm sure the others who've dabbled in dismemberment fiction are all lovely well balanced people you'd be quite happy to take home to Mother. Stephen King, I think it was, did a very good essay on the nature of writing and reading horror and such. Undoubtedly there's a few other things on it as well.
