You can try to buy a downgrade package to Windows 7, which is what my daft one did when he bought his new computer a couple of months ago. Essentially, the two worst issues with Win8 that I've seen on my daughter's laptop is that unless you are careful, you wind up running program in the app mode, which means they don't terminate when you close them. You have to literally swipe them closed like you do on your iPhone or other smartphone. The other thing is Microsoft updates, which can take, literally, hours to download. We had her laptop downloading the updates wirelessly one evening, and it took until the next morning to finish. That meant we had to plug the laptop in since the battery wasn't going to last long enough for the updates to finish. Now, if we connect to the wired router, the updates go much faster, but it's still very sluggish compared to the way Win7 updates download and install. I'll stick with Win7 myself.

As far as I know, and DG will correct me if I'm wrong, the archive skin is not adjustable other than by adjusting the color settings of your display/monitor. The forum has skins available so we can customize our settings, but the archive code doesn't permit that as far as I can tell. And no question is ever stupid.

Hi, Anda, I'm seeing the Harry Potter subdomain, alive and well, in both the Archive Index and in the Control Panel, right between Games and InuYasha where it usually resides. If possible, can you give us a screen shot of what you're seeing? That might help us pinpoint the issue. Thanks!

If we had any, they would be in the Cartoons subdomain since it is computer animation. However, it does not appear that anyone has written such a story yet, at least not here on AFF.

Hi, prismakakkerra, The first thing you need to do is to get your email reset in the database. Since you haven't registered under the updated code, we may need DemonGoddess061 to do that for you. If you can send her an email at technicalsupport@adult-fanfiction.org, give her the archive pen name, the old email, and the new email, she can take care of that part. Once the email is updated, you can then activate under the updated code. we recommend that you clear your cache and cookies first. Then follow the directions here EXACTLY as DG has written them. The password reset link is there as well. Once you've activated under the new code, you can update your email yourself in future, edit your archive pen name, and reset your password through the Control Panel of your archive profile. The archive password needs to be at least 8 characters, cannot contain spaces or special characters like @, #, or &, to name a few, and is case sensitive. It also will not let you use the former password as the new password. Trying that will blank the field and force another reset. If none of the above is the issue, please let us know the pen name of the archive account. We do have a few users with the pen name "dragonman" so it may be best to send an email to tos_team@adult-fanfiction.org. We can match the email to the correct account. Thanks!
