  2. The Member Search function hasn't yet been fixed, although DG is going through the archive now and manually editing lines of code. Your old favorite links should not have been affected, or at the least, should be working. The Member Tools pulldown in each subdomain still has a link to search the archive, and it works just fine.

  5. I'd call that Marvel-verse, yes.

  7. If the majority of the story takes place in the Marvel-verse rather than the real world, then I'd say put this in Marvel, and just add a bit to the standard fandom disclaimer: "I do not know Tom Hiddleston, and this is fiction." That will cover any celebrity issues. If the story takes place mainly in the real world, then the story belongs in Celebrity, with an added fandom disclaimer: "I do not own The Avengers or Thor." Then the usual celebrity disclaimer that the story is fiction, you don't know Tom Hiddleston, and make no money. So, the determining factor is where the story occurs.
  8. Chapter 13 Well, I suppose I was right. After a dreadfully long wait to find out what's happened, it seems that it'g going to be a case of no one getting what they wanted or needed from the ritual. That oh-so-brief chance to find her beloved Aneurin was perhaps even more painful than Yorwrath's realization that no matter how much he loves Valentina, she will never love him as much as the memory of his little brother. Islwyn deserves a slow and very painful death, preferably one that takes at least a month before he finally succumbs. And Caoilfionn is truly the only pure one, which may be the saddest thing of all. The cruelest thing was the Swynyr confessing to remembering what Aneurin and Valentina had, and then telling her she would be dead long before Aneurin was strong enough to take control. Such exquisite cruelty deserves an equally exquisite punishment, and I do hope that Baba Yaga has something in her bag of revolting tricks. I have this terrible lump in my throat, and my eyes are blurry, you evil, evil woman.

  10. There's been some closures of small presses of late, and a publisher I work with has asked that we all reach out to any author needing a new home: "Authors - Any of you needing a new home as of recently is very welcome at Torquere Press. We welcome new pieces, reprints and pieces in progress for other publishers. We have very competitive rates and would love to hear from you! Message me or email me at kristi@torquerepress.com." Torquere Press LLC I've got a few things out there with this publisher, and I've never had an issue with them personally. They were mainly an LGBTQ press, but have expanded to include a young adult/new adult line, and het content as well, so take a peek, and see if Torquere could be a fit for you.

  23. @DaFossil: Honestly, I haven't priced the software because I'm not knowledgeable enough to know which package would work. But I can tell you that it's not a small amount. Believe me, if it was a simple matter of $500 or so, I'd have tweaked the budget and badgered the daft one to get it for the site myself. Of course, any donations are helpful, and we have a link here for those. But we always appreciate a vote of confidence! Thank you!
  24. For the moment, Chrome works. The issue is a change in the software that requires eliminating a previously accepted shorthand in the coding. It now needs to be spelled out, and DG is doing that as we speak. It's a lot of files, and database access is restricted to DG and manta, our coders and database gurus, to prevent bigger issues. We know Chrome works. IE has always had issues, to be honest. Users had issues with Firefox, and I couldn't get Edge working, either, but Chrome has been fine. So, until the last corrections are made, go Chrome.
  25. @ejqHorseLady: DG bears the brunt of the workload in matters like this. She and manta are our sole coders, and the only ones allowed to access the database, to preserve the integrity of the 9 gigabytes of data we host. I will tell you very honestly that without DG, there would not be an AFF. None of us could babysit the ratpatch of old code and new fixes that she has to deal with because we are not bringing in the sort of revenue to allow us to buy shiny new code packages. She's made due with very little in the way of help and a great deal of work to do to keep this place functional, and I for one am both grateful to her, and honored to work with her. I am old enough to be allowed to label myself a cranky old thing, and I'm not known for mincing words. I can get equally testy, believe me, but that's because I do know what goes on behind the scenes. I wish I could do more, but I'm not a coder, just a long term keyboard jockey. That's why I had the less than productive task of trying to respond to posts today, in between my own real life obligations. I've been recommending Chrome to people all day, and I came close to doing a large font, bright red shout myself. I have never been fond of having to repeat myself.
