  3. I don't agree with all of the gender qualifiers. I think they are pretty broad brushed. I also don't think that because a story is more romantic in nature that it need be filled with unrealistic dream images of the perfect mate. I think a good M/s, D/s, BDSM (or any) story shows the trust and interest the characters have for each other. For me a character (male or female) that is all bad can not be believable as the romantic interest. People do not change, and if there is no seed of compassion in a character the 'love' of a good partner is just one sided and delusional. I don't think this is any different for any kind of story involving sex. I can not speak to the yaoi genre I am woefully uneducated about it, and bewildered by the fact that it collects young female fans. On a personal level, I can not imagine even wanting a one nighter that was such a colossal asshat. It is too much fun to tell those types no. Even more fun if they are riding on their looks as an excuse to be an ass. SOME of us were taught to look at other facets of beauty... even if I just want that beauty for kicks only. How is it going to be a kick if the person is pleasing to the eye but repugnant otherwise? Looking for abuse that is not created in consent is just a lil twisted to me. I don't care if it is emotional or physical. Is it just the fact that it is twisted the draw? Very interesting subject.
  4. My romantic life is getting in the way of writing romance I can't keep my mind on my story

  5. Needs to get chapter three out today, running late. Like the status updates - fun

  6. Well I am still not a man so I can not say for sure. My only reference is being married for eons. Surprise erection was perhaps just his way of being cute about it. But I can say that the morning wood was very viable. This is a funny thread.
  7. I see your point about tags, the orc reference was a hoot. I think that too many can be confusing and they should progress as the story does. If it does not have that element yet, don't tag it yet. But back to the orcs I would tag that for the wild orc sex but would have skipped the m/m tag if it was an insignificant encounter. Guess not everyone tags the same. I would have to put the super crazazy wild sex (liek not vanilla yes) away from much plot still for myself. Of course I can see reasons to bend this guideline. You never know what will happen in a story to make someone break out of their mold.
  8. I don't think it is a vs issue either. The only vs I was deliberating was the inclusion of crazy wild out of character sex in cannon settings or not. I think all kinds of stories make a happy fanfic world. But it is nice to have things broken down with story tags (someone was thinkin) so ppl can tell from summaries what is in store. If I was looking for romance and did not read story tags i may just get slash. And if I was looking for a good D/s story I could find it without getting caught in sappy romance. It would be nice if all entertainment and books were tagged like this. It sure would make it easier to decide where to spend my money.
  9. A man may always know, but there is still the - surprise! erection - don't deny it. Also, the morning gift. Agreed the surprise ones are more controlled when past puberty, but it still lingers and requires adjustment after the fact. I am glad I am a girl and my anatomy does not bust me out like that. Also, I often wondered if you guys sat on that stuff, I hear varied answers. 'Oh it is ok you learn' and 'ouch it sucks' Interesting thread.
  10. Cannon Balls... I am still smiling. I am glad to find other people thinking about this. Looks like it is easier to get away with straight PWP out of cannon than it is a story, hence the without plot part. And, AU is a whole other kettle of fun. JayDee has a great point. If you are looking for porn just get to it, don't cloud it with art. I wonder how it is then so much art gets rapped as pornographic. Hah. The world is a curious place. And I was talking about True Blood on HBO. Mind you the blond Swede is a hunk, but the show is not as good as the book. But then I guess it never is. I think I am going to have to keep this particular story less sexy and write a one shot that is straight PWP. I hope I can keep the plot to a minimum if I do write it.
  11. I see, I can understand why the archives don't have active links. I will have to try it and see if people use the copy pasta
  12. I agree, and I would encourage reading and reviewing outside of your fandom/style as well. There are not a whole lot of authors on the forums compared to the stories published and it may take years to find a story on this thread in your preferred genres. It is also good for a writer to read a little outside the box, it can offer you insight to your own work and introduce you to new scenarios. I agree that some are going to be too far from your preferences to get through, but I am willing to bet that there are many that are not.
  13. @ FairySlayer Ruby is so friggin cute. I am a Halloween baby so that style appeals to me. Leaving a review for you now. On another note, I wonder how to get more authors involved in this thread? I guess it is a basic forum involvement issue.
  14. Awesome! Way to go AFF. I am not a twilight fan, but it is very good to be represented for any fandom and it will surely bring more traffic to the site. Also twilight fans are vast and many and that makes it a fantastic genre to be noted for. This is great news.
  15. Part Two posted. Edits to Part One. Thank you
  16. Title: Dead Warmed Over Genre/Group: Books > Southern Vampire Summary: Eric and Sookie pairing after end of book ten. Eric is full of fairy blood and feeling it's effects. Warnings: oral, general spoilers through book ten Link: http://books.adultfa...hp?no=600094656 New edits, hope I caught a lot of the things that were wrong with it. I would love additional comments after the edits. I don't expect re-reviews but if you feel like giving your two cents on the improvements I would appreciate it. Also I changed the rating it is probably much more Adult than Adult+ Happy Writing. AND : What do you think of a concrit thread/circle??? That way we could be more detailed in our improvement suggestions and have good dialog over how to go about evolving and editing our work?
  17. OK, how does everyone feel about, and or deal with if you are a writer, the issue of sex scenes for adult fan fiction vs what the characters would be doing? My Position: I don't like sex that is waaaaaaaaaay out of character unless the writer can put it in the original character's voice. Hard to do, for me anyhow. It helps me to use a plotline that I feel mimic's the original writer's base stories, or builds on an aspect of a plot that was left unexplored. My Current Issue: How to put graphic enough sex into a story that was pretty lemonade all the way? The HBO series based on the book is another question as they took the sex WAAAAAAAAY over the top for that story already, something that slowed as the series gained popularity. Unlike most adult fan stories they kept the overly sexualized scenes mostly to the backstory or minor characters. That will not work for me or many others as use of main character pairings are typical.
  18. Oh thank you I don't mind concrit at all, I don't think it was harsh one bit. I do think you are brave to leave it, I always feel bad and try to just say something vague. This is way more helpful. True Blood is indeed based off the books, but very loosely, in the TV series Eric and Sookie are still friends and they are only about through book 3 but have jumped ahead with some of the plotlines. As of book four through ten Eric and Sookie have a much closer relationship which may be why she seems a bit out of her TV character. Still arguing in my head about the sex scenes. They are always very brief and not very graphic in the books (unlike the HBO version)... but this is AFF and I need to find a way to step up the sex and keep them in their book characters. I left a review for you and rly enjoyed the story. It was easy to read and follow even when I did not know the fandom.
  19. Hi I have reviewed cowgirl65 Closer than Brothers. Title: Dead Warmed Over Genre/Group: Books > Southern Vampire Summary: Eric and Sookie pairing after end of book ten. Eric is full of fairy blood and feeling it's effects. Warnings: oral, general spoilers through book ten Link: http://books.adultfa...hp?no=600094656 Working on a lot of editing. I can not believe all the obvious mistakes that were there. I should use a beta. I was going to redo the whole story but I think I can get by on editing and not starting over.
  20. Is this thread still active??? It does not appear to have activity for months aside from yesterdays post. I will try to read and review latest poster this weekend. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX @cowgirl65 - hrm those links go to haywire's stories. I will go through your author's page to r&r.
  21. It seems like stories I posted years and years ago were commented on more. I don't know if it is because I have switched fandoms or if the site has just morphed into more of a viewing site and not a reviewing one. The number of views does not seem to have changed, but the number of reviews per 100 views is much lower than in the past imho. It was a little disconcerting to me at first but looking at a lot of new stories, with the views per reviews method, showed me that it was about average for the site. (with the possible exception of the m/m slash one shots, those are still rly rly popular with reviewers). I think it was a good suggestion to review each other's work. I am not very well versed in most of the fandoms, but would be willing to contribute to the proposed "reviewing circle" Cheers
