  1. Chapter 17 is up! Only 4 more chapters to go!
  2. Oh! I wanted to work at a funeral home or cemetery or something at some sort, because I assumed it was a fairly quiet job as long as I didn’t have to be the one talking to the families lol. I’m glad Rudd rang a little true. Entitlement seems to be a recurring theme for me this season so a lot of my antagonists are ending up pretty seemingly harmless but insidious and toxic in their expectations and greed. I guess that’s what I’ve been finding scary lately lol. From your description of morticians I’m glad I didn’t go that route! Thank you so much for the review!
  3. Couldn’t sleep. But the fun thing about insomnia is everything seems 150% funnier and gooder (that’s a word now. I just decided). I just started a scene and laughed uproariously at a stupid little porny rhyme I wrote in it and I just KNOW I’m going to think it’s totally juvenile and unusable in the morning. Morning Chloe’s such a goddamn stick in the mud.

What is Morning Chloe afraid of?

Morning Chloe is afraid of everything. Morning Chloe has issues.

Morning Chloe is in good company, then. :P

  4. uuuugh! Jesus I had a root canal when I was 14… Which was… fuck math. 17 years ago? I remember flesh burning but I didn’t feel the drill at least! So yeah, might be a good analogy for good critical reviews lol. If done right, it’s followed by a little pain and a lot of relief? And if done harshly and with little regard for the patient: drill on nerve!
  5. LOL I was gonna say the same thing earlier about good critical reviews. But I was scared that would discourge people from reviewing kuz they didn’t wanna hurt me lol. But you put it well. I know they’re good for me and I want them, even if they sting. Seriously though, fuck dental work.
  6. Yeah, usually bad reviews leave me stinging for a good week. This one, I was upset for an evening, and even then, being overtired and having had a shitty day probably contributed to it. Especially when they sign it “none of your business”, it’s so obviously someone just trying to ruin someone’s day.
  7. lol my first thought was you or Sara. But I thought maybe TCR could have been feeling frisky too. Because I thought only people fucking around start a review by calling it ‘crap’. <3 I wuw u wifey
  8. @pippychick Sad thing is, I wanted something to go Crispin’s way too, and I didn’t give it to myself! After I finished this story I kept getting these ideas about things I could do with him, but then I’d remember how the story ended so I couldn’t. Course, I could set it before the story, but who likes going back in time (Besides every historical fiction writer and reader ever, including me...)? I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I honestly didn’t think most people would. Not because of typical writer neurosis, but because it was kinda a weird story where the character development and interactions were all a little off. I wanted to write something like those creepy little stop-motion horror shorts that aren’t particularly scary but are often very artsy and weird in a way reminiscent of nightmares. Most people I know hate those things, but I adore em. Thank you so much for the thought-provoking review <3
  9. Well, today was just a big ball of shit. Here’s to tomorrow being super awesome for the sake of homeostasis. :hitthefan:

@Desiderius Price Today was much better, thank you. Woke up to the messages from TCR, sweetmamajama and Pippychick, and then the new assassins creed arrived in the mail and now I’m writing porn with another friend. So awesome day ^_^ :spank:

And I quickly misread, thinking you were writing porn *for* your friend…nice friendship.   :taser::sex:

  10. Hello ‘none of your business’. lol When I saw the email pop up, I legit thought it was one of my friends fucking with me. Not sure what’s going on in your life that you feel the need to be a dick to me, but I hope it helped and someone got something out of it.
  11. Chapter 16 is up! Calaca and Iddy finally get a chance to put everything on the table… Well, not everything.
  12. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with your responses. I completely agreed with everything you had to say and thought you came off quite patient and understanding. It’s a good idea to use this as a fic-fodder moment though.
  13. Well, at least he made his reasons for leaving clear so all his readers don’t have to wonder? Of course, he also made unfounded judgements and claims about everyone on this site. People he’s never met. I dunno why I’m saying he, maybe it was a woman, or somewhere in between; I’m not sure that matters. I’m not really offended by it, I’m just baffled and incredulous, because of how fricking presumptuous their rant was. In my case, yes, my family would be shamed if they found out what I write. My family is made up of seventh day adventists and uber catholics and bigots. They’d be ashamed of me if they knew I was a feminist, or if they knew I was pro-choice, or if they knew I didn’t believe in a cosmic hierarchy. Or even if they knew I didn’t completely hate the Canadian prime minister lol. The pro-choice thing would probably horrify them more than the writing smut thing. (My grandmother founded a pro-life movement in our area.) Writing smut and violence is healthy. Unless you’re a psychopath and what you’re writing is actually your personal memoirs about rape and cannibalism… It’s therapy. At least for me. It’s a way to vent. I hope y’all never feel ashamed of the depraved things you enjoy writing and reading. People on this site are a million times more creative and open-minded and kind and supportive than any of the anti-smut people I’ve known.
  14. Binge-watching Lockup. So who wants to write some fun m/m prison fiction for me to binge-read?

  15. Wow, your stuff is so naughty it violates the super accepting AFF rules? I am impressed, sir!
  16. I used to be on Fanfiction.net too! But the things I was posting were too dirty and all my pervy friends were getting purged so I came here a good 10 years ago and never really looked back. My profile is still there though! And some of my dirty, old, badly written fan fiction lol. I think under the name “Chlover”? Oh well. I’m on Ao3 too (As CloverReef). I’m glad you joined the party, @SesshomaruFreak ! It warms my lurid little heart to see more active faces on these forums!
  17. Chapter 15 is up! Iddy and Nathan play two truths and a lie! For about 2 seconds.
  18. This thread is for exploring the review writing process. If you’re intimidated by writing reviews, have questions, or just don’t know what to say, we’re here to help. If you already frequently leave reviews, this is a good place to detail your system (if you have one!). When I review, I open wordpad as soon as I start reading, and whenever I notice something I really like (Even if it’s just a line) I write it down. I write down my thoughts about events or characters as I go, and then at the end, I put them all together for a review. Writers love it when you notice things about their characters, so that’s usually the best way to go. But I’ve been betaing for over a decade now so I tend to notice the technical side (grammar/sentence structure/etc) most so that ends up being what I comment on. Personally, I prefer to stick to positive things, and leave the constructive criticism out unless they specifically ask for it, or I was consistently distracted by something that’s an easy enough fix. I don’t touch the big issues. I feel my job as a reviewer is to encourage. I keep the concrit for when I beta. But it’s okay to offer concrit in a review. Many writers desperately want it, It’s also okay, if you don’t have anything to say but enjoyed it, to just say “I liked it” and that’s it.
  19. LOL that’s awesome that you were so attached to the story that you wanted to kill the evil character
  20. Absolutely! Making readers cry, rage, and shit themselves is like the holy grail of writing.
  21. Thank you for the review @GeorgeGlass ! I dunno why, but all my Halloween ideas this year involved some asshole victimizing the wrong dude. I usually like the survival horrors best! Oh well, might as well go with the flow!
  22. Ahhhh! It’s been seven years since I had to write a conclusion to a chaptered story. WTF I have no idea what to do with this conclusion lol. Now I’m all excited and proud and nervous and frustrated all at once, so I’m just gonna scream again, kay? AHHHH! :flash:

You, DP, I totally take for granted. No, I’m kidding. You don’t fascinate me, sorry, but I am often impressed and amused by you.

Y’all scare me. Also the brothers have pointed out they modernised from brethren and so I withdraw my objection to talking about the brother.

  23. Thank you @KoKoa_B! I'm glad you liked Crispin. I think that's what I was worried most about: that he was likeable and that the reader would still sympathise with him even if he saw the world in a, perhaps, unrelatable way.
  24. I’ve seen it used with male chars but only when they were being represented as excessively cute and helpless. Usually while sexily/cutely begging for something. In animals, (In my opinion) a mew is different from a meow in that I’d usually just apply it to kittens begging for milk, so when applied to characters in a story and sexual situations, I’d use the same sorta context. A helpless/cute character wanting something and begging for it.
  25. I’m not entirely sure if that’s a twilight reference or something else entirely
