jojo, just a fair warning. You have been warned about this kind of behavior before, and one of the people who said they were going to take on this challenged asked that people not as how the story is coming along every other day.
Therefore, I am leaving a public post here. Asking for updates every other day, or every other week can make the writer feel pressured and annoyed, and it can even cause the writer to lose interest in writing the story. So, I advice that those of you waiting for this story to be written show patience, and wait for the writers to let you know how things are going.
As for the writers, when you have a dedicated audience, waiting eagerly for a story, it is very smart to let them know how the story is progressing, as you have done here. Please remember though, story discussions (review reply threads etc) are supposed to be posted in the appropriate sub-forum in the Fan Fiction forum, and there you and your readers can discuss the story to your hearts' content.

Many thanks to our lovely Forum Mod for moving this to the appropriate thread.
We have 22 subdomains, covering everything from Books to Original Fiction to NonEnglish works. If you tell us what fandom you're writing for, we'd be happy to point you to the right place.
But as an author myself, and one who has never written an anime-related story in my life, I'd have to say that we're not an anime archive, or even anime-oriented. It just comes first in the alphabet...

SGS, you've been around long enough to know that I'm pagan, and have been all my life. So yes, treating my beliefs cavalierly will put my back up. Consider it as having poked me.
And warlocks are not magical, nor are witches, druids, shamans or witch doctors. I'll disregard the flippancy of the tooth fairy, in the spirit of being helpful. Witches practice magic. Witch doctors practice magic to some extent. Druids and shamans do not practice magic. They are more akin to priests and/or oracles. Warlocks are not a magical class in the real world, WoW notwithstanding. But none of them are magical creatures, unlike the fey, who are magical creatures.
You can choose to disregard the real-world definitions of these roles, but in that case, you should not come here and ask for assistance with researching these things. All you do is frustrate those of us for whom these things have significance. Instead, consult the WoW Wiki.

That is actually a very insensitive statement... but you probably don't realize that so I'm going to let it pass. But do keep in mind, there are still practitioners of non-judeo-christian religions. Like... Druids and Wiccans, even worshipers of Odin who might take offense to that statement above. So you're handling someone's religion here, of course people are going to get touchy.
I think the main concern people have here is that you're going to shit all over someone's religion in the name of fiction, which is a legitimate concern. (i know this is contrary to my who cares he's writing fiction statement, but admittedly I was a few glasses into the evening, and oh the flippant shit I say when tipsy.)
I would suggest picking up some of the viking sagas or early Irish and Welsh texts. You can get translations of a few of them on Amazon for free. And visit your local library. If you think about the most successful author of what I call super fantasy (elves, orcs, goblins etc.) it's Tolkien and the guy was a medievalist who borrowed heavily from Viking sagas (There is literally a saga about a guy named Frodi who has to destroy a ring),
Also, I think it might be more impactful if you just have one set of gods you focus on and write a story about infighting among them. It would also mean less research for you, (compelling fantasy is research).

Your entire premise is off, because valkyries aren't warriors of the Norse gods, they are grim reapers for fallen human soldiers. I don't really recall any myths where god or the gods have an army of warriors. Such servents tend more to be messengers if anything. Most wars in the old myths where the gods are involved are proxy wars where each god choses a human side to represent them and helps their guys out in much smaller ways, or battles that are so big that only the gods themselves can fight in them.
The view of Norse valktries or Judeo-Christian angels as a army of heavenly warriors comes more from modern pop culture, which usually borrows names from old myths more than it does portray the myths faithfully.

I think my frustration here is a result of your asking for factual backup of what's largely a fictional concept. The Orc shamans from WarCraft 3 and WoW don't have any resemblance whatsoever to a real-life shaman, nor do the goblinoid witch doctors have any grounding in reality. Hence my frequent advise to you to make it up and stop looking for factual references for something when factual isn't what you want anyway. Just read the WoW Wiki instead and go from there to avoid getting sued.

Merely changing the players is not actually sufficient to make a story unique. In order for the story to be merely similar, it would need to have substantive differences in setting as well as in the actual sequence of events in the story. It's one thing to be inspired by a story and write something influenced by it, but my caution to anyone taking this challenge is that merely copying that Castle story and substituting Bracken will not be permitted here.
If anyone taking this challenge needs or wants clarification, I'm happy to assist. However, the site's Terms of Service is pretty clear.

I'm going to hope, very emphatically, that you are not asking someone to copy and paste an existing story and simply change characters and a few minor details. We consider that plagiarism here, and we frown on that sort of thing.

While I normally would consider this a sort of baiting post, I'd like to take the time to address this.
First of all, I want to point out that this site is run and maintained by volunteers. None of us, including our owner and administrators, make one cent from what we do. Revenue generated by our advertising banners, and from the generous donations of those users who wish to help goes into paying the hosting costs for the site, and to pay for the code upgrades necessary to keep things moving smoothly. So, right from the start, the people working to maintain this site do it because we love AFF and what it stands for.
Having said that, we have a clearly written, plain English Terms of Service and Content Guidelines. We make the rules and expectations very clear. Since this is an adult site, we expect that our members, being adults, can read and comprehend those rules. They are few and quite simple. In the event that a member might not understand a rule, we have forums where they can ask us, and we are always happy to explain what we mean by a given rule. The rules are necessary so that the site can continue to exist. We are required to comply with the laws of our domicile, and it is the site's owner and administrators who stand to face the consequences if we don't enforce our rules. Jail time, fines, and lifetime registration as a sex offender are all potential consequences. I would strongly suggest that it is morally repugnant to expect anyone to face those consequences because another person doesn't want to observe clearly stated rules.
I will assure you that we do document infractions, and the methods are in keeping with the nature of the infraction. Given that we are human, it is inevitable that we will make a mistake from time to time. There is no absolute guarantee of infallibility promised, nor is that even remotely possible. If you believe we have warned you, or taken other action that was not correct, you would be better served by emailing us with facts to refute our conclusions.
To address moral standards, by what benchmark do you judge? How do you determine whether you are a more moral person than I, for example? You don't know me, and I don't know you. Therefore, that entire line of reasoning is specious and childish. If you question whether or not any staff member can behave badly with no consequences, we do have oversight at all levels. It is simply impossible for any moderator to apply warnings incorrectly without that error being caught. Moderators are supervised by the administrators, who are long-term staff members, who have written the rules and guidelines, and who insist that those rules and guidelines be implied impartially.
In short, you posture nicely, but you lack sufficient training in logic, or in classical rhetoric and grammar to make this debate sustainable.

    Challenges and Request Forums.
This is where you can post challenges to writers, or request stories to be written based on your ideas.
If you want to take up a challenge or request, it is permitted for the original poster and the author to discuss ideas and how to progress the story.
It is recommended that once an author has taken up a challenge or request, and posted the story, s/he post a link to the story in the relevant Challenge or Request thread, and then create a Review Response thread in the appropriate forum, where readers and author are welcome to discuss the story at any length.
It is NOT permitted to post random, unrelated ideas, or hijack a thread to come up with new ideas, no matter whether they are related to the original post or not. If the writer who takes up the challenge asks for input, keep it to the point, and do not derail the discussion, and allow the author time to respond.
The Challenges and Requests forum is NOT meant to be used like some sort of a think tank with endless ideas being thrown out, but no one taking up the challenge.
If you have an idea, create your own thread to post your ideas, and wait for someone to take up the challenge.

This comes under & Journals I guess.

As of today I have 100 seperate uploads on AFF as JayDee. Not stories; in the Harry Potter drabbles collection I have 9 drabbles, and some of the other oneshots might be viewed as continuations of the same story - For the Honour of The Slytherin, For the Profit of The Slytherin and Revenge Of The Ravenclaw, f'example - but still, a milestone. Would have got there sooner, but for deleting the old celeb stories years ago, and a couple others lost to time.

Can't shake that whole "Quantity over quality" feeling though. I know some of it is actually pretty readable - Shokan Lust ain't bad at all! - and some of it, well,

Still, something of a milestone and only just over ten years after registering!

Well, that's me done marking the 100 mark. Only ten more years of membership for another 100?

Read what the nice Forum Mod wrote. FUTURE posts with story snippets that are more than a ten-line paragraph will be deleted.
Now, speaking as the nice Archive Mod, any story you post here on AFF which has been cobbled together from bits and pieces gleaned from this thread will need to be accompanied by emails from each and every person whose snippet you've used, sent to me at tos_team@adult-fanfiction.org, or the story will be removed by me. That's as per our Terms of Service, a document we do actually want you to read. (Really. We're very proud of it. We even wrote it in plain English as opposed to the legal gibberish you'll find elsewhere.)

Guest XxX, we are a moderated archive, and therefore we enforce the rules on required tags, etc. So, the moderators do make sure that stories are correctly tagged, and if they are not, the moderators ask the authors to fix the missing tags.
Since our mods are human (mostly ) there can always (on rare occasions) be mistakes, or missed tags that are not addressed. And if you find a story like that, it would be highly appreciated if you could let us know, and send us a link to the "offending" story.
To do that, you can either click the little "Report" button at the bottom of each chapter (this is the best option), send an email to: tos_team@adult-fanfiction.org or post a report here: http://www2.adult-fanfiction.org/forum/index.php/forum/97-all-other-tos-violations/ No matter which option you use, please be as detailed as you can, providing links to the story, name of the story, and what is missing.
Beyond that, I agree with CL, and suggest you keep your eyes open for the PWP-tag.
Thank you, and we hope you have fun.

I will state, as one of the archive moderators, I rarely warn an author if the only tag missing is NoSex, just like I don't warn for a missing M/F tag if the story is in the Het subcategory. It honestly shouldn't matter, and I say that as an author as well as a moderator.
Adult fiction means a great deal more than erotica. It can mean dealing with darker themes: loss, anxiety, depression, and the like. There's no requirement that stories here have sex, and there's not even a requirement that stories contain "adult" content. Many authors come here simply because we are an actively moderated archive, and we respond to our members promptly when there is a question or an issue, such as suspected plagiarism. It makes the authors feel safe, because we care about their stories as much as they do.
There are sites that only permit erotic content. We are not one of them, and I for one am quite proud of that.

As to story deletions, the only one who does that is actually ME. I only delete if the story has been hidden for over 30 days, and author refuses to comply with the site rules. Note that word again. RULES. Specifically, I delete stories for the following reasons:
The author is under age The author is posting someone else's work. You know, plagiarism The author refuses to comply with the Terms of Service, and/or the Content Guidelines (which are a subset of the ToS, and this is clearly stated as well). When you decide to grow up and act like an adult on an adult site, then sure, we can discuss things. Yet, you will still find that this site has rules which are enforced. This site is MODERATED. By the way, that is also clearly stated.
