So uh first time I’ve been hired then released within the first day. So either it was a fluke or the economy might not be doing well.

Seriously, that is exceedingly unprofessional to make you come in to be told you were let go. What industry is this in?
-
Ironically, hospitality.
-
Well, shit. If it’s a hotel chain, let me know, because I won’t stay with them in future. Same thing if it’s a restaurant.
-
So uh, manager got axed but she decided to deadman’s switch and nuke alot of other...enjoyers of group extracurricular activities by sending evidence to HQ directly….
And I knew none of this and walked straight into the aftermath of the hidenburg.
There’s burning bridges… And then there’s nuking the thing.
So the fallout has yet to be determined but on the other hand kinda have to respect going out on your own terms via nuclear fission.

So utter chaos at work the scheduler just walked off one day and we’re preparing for 24/5 in Feb. So its like one hell of a drama bomb.
-
Spent a coupled days in Williams. Its touristy place celebrating route 66 but it feels like a small town pearled in time. The gateway to the grand canyon lol.

Still revising, its a good thing I’m going through chapter by chapter and have an outline cause I can tell there’s this weird tone shift I have to solve.
Anyone else ever look at your own writing go be confused of a weird tone shift?

-
Usually an unwanted tone shift is caused by putting the project down and coming back to it months/years later.
-
Or it was that damned midnight snack of peanut butter and bananas on toast…
-
… I legit had that last night.

The goodnews 90% done with the revamp. Tying the loose threads into a serviceable plot. Trying so hard everything will be ready soon!
The Badnews, Having to deal with the fact my 90 year old grandma is a hoarder.

I can laugh at it now.
The bruises are gone but I don’t think I’m going to step into that house for a long time nomatter how much I love my grandparent.
-
Oh, good, you survived. Did you need search & rescue to pull you out?
-
Well between getting conked in the head by 1970’s ads in boxes , three outdated encyclopedias and essentially covered in every single issue of 1981’s readers digest surprisingly not.

And trust me, I’d mangle your native language far worse, Neko-baby!
-
Word order seems to vary substantially among languages. According to linguist John McWhorter, there are even a few languages in which the order of words is meaningless; they have other mechanisms for identifying subject vs object, etc.
-
If I remember correctly, Japanese is one of those languages where the word order isn’t fixed. It’s not meaningless, but the word order isn’t nearly as fixed as it is in English

There’s something to be said for writing a sex scene and suddenly get waylaid cause you don’t know the growing season for olive trees.

There’s also the possibility to be laid by the Olive grove.

Welp, Episode eight managed to somehow find the subbasement to rock bottom. Dear god where do I start?
It is a banal anathemic sacrilege and outright vitriolic and visceral sustained blasphemic abortion to Tolkien’s works. Not only is tone deaf in a way that only a soulless and hellbound corporation could manage. It goes out of its way to be Anti-Tolkien even at its basest level.
Corporate Anti-fiction as its final shuddering evolution on par with the erecting of the tower of babel itself. Not only does it absolutely and resolutely undermine LOTR in its entirety it precludes the conceptual possibility of LOTR altogether.
it has to be AU at best.
The least of its crimes against nature and sin is it refutes the concept of goodness itself. Morgoth won the war is the best way to describe it. Eru Ilúvatar could never have created something this vacuous and empty.
Galadriel-Sue is the brand new face of a blackhole mary sue. Reality is her bitch and even the plot gives way to her mercurial wants.
Non-negotiable Ray Palpatine doesn’t even come close to this new found level of mary sue. This utterly insulting caricature. She is the left hand and right hand of Morgoth at the same time. Fk it Galadriel is what a successful Morgoth would look like.
Not only is she the instigator of everything in RoP. She’s The Dark Lord of the entire franchise by proxy who not only is forgiven but gets to escape karma entirely and go to the Undying Lands. Sauron himself is her victim. Let that sink in.
I joked in an earlier post that sauron was the only one that could topple her. Nope, she took an erupting volcano to the face. Her plot armor is so heavily reinforced and thick I don’t even think the Death Star could touch her.
Sauron is exactly who you think it is and he is the doomed hero of the series.
This finale is what the death of fiction looks like.
If a corporation and or hollywood so much as even looks in your direction. Rings of Power is the absolute and resolute lasting example of what they’ll do to your beloved works if given even half a chance. Have a lawyer on hand and a box of pampers cause there’d be no possibility of even a bathroom break for the author on set who’d actively have to have a fricking loaded gun on the desk in front of everyone in the writing room at all times.
Rings of Power -10/10 Actively avoid at all costs with the acknowledgment that anyone praising it is actively trying to gaslight you.

The sole point I’ll admit is the OST and orchestra has to be tired carrying this horrid world on its back.
-
It’s bad fanfiction, using visuals to break my eyeballs.

Personally, My money is on who has the greater authority. average faerie vs vamp defintely money is on the faerie
An elder vamp vs faerie= probably the elder vamp
A primal vamp vs faerie noble probably closer to an uneasy armed truce rather than any feeling of Tea time.
-
So, who supplied the tea? I’d wager whoever poisons it is more likely to come out on top.

That’s the thing. Following the rules of hospitality means it’d be more of who spiked the wine of the vein =p
Assuming that doesn’t breach the rules of hospitality.

Working till Christmas
I worry about these youngings, We’re already on a skeleton crew and two got themselves fired for “the message” Like what message is worth that?
- Show previous comments 2 more

Was “the message” an actual message sent by the two ex-employees that was in extraordinarily poor taste? Or do you just work for a “high-quality” employer sending a message that they’re “high-quality?”

I work in an industry where the college life hasn’t been rubbed off by the real world yet.

Okay… So, with the headlines, I’m guessing the little twerps got involved in the “River to the Sea” Blood-Libel, and someone in management really didn’t want to go there. Oh, well…
Good luck getting and training the replacements.
