I rewatched… within the garden, I think the point was to show the villain she could be, to Frodo, if she had the ring.  Therefore, a villain perspective was appropriate TBH, and consistent with the book on that matter.  Now it was irksome to watch Ned Stark be cursed, yet again – at least he keeps his head this time.

See that could work. But, that would require basic fan-fiction competence and basic understanding of the world the writers blatantly don’t have. its like they wanted to do generic fantasy # 27 but decided to put the LOTR sticker on it.

Within that specific scene, it felt on point.  HOWEVER, I don’t like all of the other tweaks that were done.  (ie replacing Glorfindel for the flooding-at-Rivendell, for instance.)   Scouring of the Shire, totally missing from the movies, was very good at highlighting the change/growth that had occurred in the four hobbits on their adventures.
