  4. As much as I would love to see people use something that would correct formatting and spelling, the onus for that is on the author and not the site. My inner editor may be reduced to tears frequently, but site policy is to let the attempted murder of written English stand around with its flies undone and its complete inability to comprehend homonyms on full display.

  6. Well part of me thinking about it again is that I’ve found one that has some looser rules around filtering stuff. I’ve also seen some AI image creators that have looser rules around what it can create. Obviously the image thing is not really an issue for this site. My intention at this point isn’t to post anything that I didn’t write myself. Everything I’m posting now was completely from my crazy human brain. However I have also seen some stories that could use a formatting and spelling pass which AI could help with.

  12. I think you mean this thread: https://www2.adult-fanfiction.org/forum/topic/73048-does-aff-have-a-policy-on-ai-generated-fanfic/#comment-445291 So far, we haven’t developed a formal policy. As we’ve been talking about over in the status updates, Chat GPT so far has filters in place to prevent it from generating adult content, which is our milieu. That’s not to say that “clever” folks haven’t managed to jailbreak it, and there’s talk about creating a system to allow verified adults to write adult content. So, it is on the radar but not yet an issue thus far. Will it become an issue? My good gold is on yes, because Rule 34 exists.

  14. I have this vague memory of at some point asking if AFF had an AI policy. Although for some reason I can’t find it on the forums. So I’m just going to ask it again. Does the platform have one?

  16. Don’t be confused, it’s two Chapter Twos! (I feel like a porn-writing Dr. Seuss.) RB-X-17, Chapter 2 Precocious, Chapter 2: Topless Day

  19. This just in: some school districts in the US are banning books about cats. Apparently, somebody needs to have a chat with the administration and tell them those books “aren’t about that kind of pussy.”

It’s getting weird out there, and not even a fun weird. Recently I started coming across a conspiracy theory about lead paint being banned “because it blocks the invisible weapons the government uses to control people,” and my eyebrows became one with my hairline. Every time I run across it, I just think, “you ate the paint chips, didn’t you.” 🤨 Besides, if the government could control everyone, they would spend a lot less time trying to rein in crime, misinformation, and everything in between, and Texas wouldn’t petition to secede from the union every few years.

Albert Einstein said, “The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.” I just keep forgetting that.

I am laughing because the alternative is that I cry and try to murder my liver with oceans of Islay single malt.

  28. The people who leave negative reviews on e-books reporting sex scenes are my heroes. It’s easy enough to filter in smut when you’re reading fanfiction, but the e-book writers get coy about it in their descriptions. If not for sex-averse reviewers, we’d risk reading a “spicy book” that never passes first base, get clam-shelled over the lack of smut, and have to go start a fight with our husbands or something. ...not that I’m speaking from experience, or anything.

But yeah. Someone left a squicked one-star review on a book I was considering. Granted, the review was just the word “sex” written three times – like they’re starring in a demonic possession porno or something - and shoop, there the book went. Right into my cart. I hope it’s filthy. People like that are heroes.

At the moment, chat gpt does have filters, but OpenAI is planning to relax and/or remove those filters for verified adult users, tentatively in December.

I can’t decide if that makes me cringe or flinch, or if it’s something in between. That could go wrong in so many ways. 😬
