Threesome "rules"

Curious what you think are the best kinds of “rules” around threesomes.

I’m working on a story and it’s probably the second time I’ve gone in the threesome direction in stories but I’m not sure if I’m working things out correctly.

In the story, there’s a couple threesomes involving two men and one woman, and now I’m writing some with two women on one guy. However, I’m thinking of it in terms of “tag teaming” and for whatever reason I feel like the “tag team” isn’t written as well for the two women stories.

So what do you think makes for a good “tag team”?

Just so I understand the question: By “tag team,” are you talking about a three-person sex session in which only two of the three are having sex at any given moment?

Well more in the sense of, as an example from the two men on one woman, the guys are focused on the woman and not on each other. Similarly, in the two women on one man scenario, the two women are mostly focused on the guy.

Though in my two women on one men scenario, it’s less focused on the guy exclusively. So part of me feels like they aren’t being a “tag team”.

Well this is part of what I’m kinda feeling is the issue. In my previous threesome series, the guy was “in charge” of the two women and kinda got what he wanted. Where as in this, the relationship status is somewhat unclear or less defined. The two women can be in charge or the two guys depending on the scenario. But because in the scenario of the two women, they’re just as into each other as the guys? It’s feeling like the women aren’t “teaming up” on the guy so much as including him in their own fun.

I’m not exactly a master author myself, but that said my advice is that to get everything across you need depth. For that, you need more than just 1 chapter. Which, unfortunately for you, means more work.

Oh I totally get that. This is actually a multi part story. These scenes are like chapter 9 and 10 of a multi chapter story. Yet it’s still kinda coming across this way in my head.

In my previous threesome story, it was also a multiple chapter story though the chapters were much longer. Close to 30 pages per chapter. These are coming out to 15-30 pages per chapter.

I’ve written a lot of threesome scenes, and they vary a lot in terms of how they go. But they tend to take one of these forms:

--All three participants pleasuring one another more or less equally

--Two participants focusing on pleasuring the third. Sometimes this is the case for the whole scene (especially if it’s two guys on one girl); other times, they take turns being the center of attention.

--A genuine “tag team” in which two participants have sex while the third watches, and then they switch out (usually so one of them can rest up for the next round)

So the “rules” vary according to what sort of relationship and expectations everyone has.

So I think I’ve written some version of all three in various scenarios. But I guess I have been focusing on the word tag team because that’s a phrase that came up in crafting the story and in the dialogue. Though I would say that my “tag teams” are closer to the second option with the two guys on one girl and sort of a combination of the first and third when it’s the two women on one guy.
